Weekly Wishes

Thursday, November 30th, 2006

Almost December Wishers! While it isn’t Christmas yet, we do have a pile of wishes that have been granted!

Me, Myself and I
Day is the proud new owner of an electric guitar (or almost)! Send us another video of your band when you get you rnew guitar. We’d love to hear it!

Samu gets $77 towards his dream of going to Asia. Samu has a great idea, he has entered his wish again since his wish isn’t entirely fulfilled. Good luck Samu!

Twist of Fate
Shirley needs a little bit of help to get her back on her feet after an abusive relationship. Her wish is receiving the full pot of $257 and hopefully this will give her the little boost that she needs.

Health and Wellness
Broderis88 is starting college and hoping to get in shape. I guess we can all relate to that hope, because she got the most votes in the Health and Wellness category! She will receive $100 to buy and ab roller. Congratulations!

jon berry will get the rest of the fund to put towards some health insurance bills. It isn’t very fun to be ill and worry about how you are going to pay for the stuff that is making you better.

Weekly Wish
Mama Weezie is a sixteen-year-old Daucshand. She is ready to go to that big farm in the sky where the squirrels are slow and the naps are long. Her wish has been granted and she gets $250.

Gypsy had the second most votes. As the pot was larger than Mama Weezie’s wish, She gets the rest of the pot. A whole $7! :( Since it doesn’t seem all that great to receive $7, Robin Hood is giving Gypsy 5 free wishes! Gypsy, I’m looking forward to seeing your new wishes. If you can’t think of 5 wishes, Christmas is coming up and I’m sure you know a few people who’d love to make a wish as well.

Help Me, Help Others
ursa maior is getting $200 for some new scenography. Ursa maior is in rehearsals for a production of Karma Merlo. The Merry Men would love to see you upload the performance so we can all see it! Break a Leg!

heavensbabydoll is getting the other $57 of the fund towards some Christmas presents for her children. Merry Christmas heavensbabydoll.

Hope you enjoyed reading about all of these great people! Stay tuned in December for some new and great things. The Merry Men are planning some big surprises!

Cheerio,
Maid Marian

Tuesday’s Update

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

Hello Merry Men and Women,

Today is the last day of voting for this week’s wishes. You know what that means, you better get your votes in! There is a pretty tight race going on in the Help Me, Help Others Category. The wishes in in Health and Wellness are fighting for the most votes as well.

If you have a wish in one of these categories, you better get your friends to register and vote for your wish!

Can’t wait to share with you tomorrow who’s wishes are going to be granted!
Keep smiling (especially if you are in this extremely cold weather like we are),
Maid Marian

The wish you should read about today

We have more amazing wishes coming into the wishing well this week. Today, i’m profiling another wish made on behalf of someone else.

The little student I would like to help has had a very hard life. She was separated from her family during the hurricane and did not get back to them until some time later. She is a very sweet young lady that I do not teach, but see her everyday because I am an English Special Education teacher and she attends the class across the hall from me. She is always smiling. I look for her each and every day to feel good about my day. That sounds selfish, but she makes me think of how good my life truly is. She has Cerebral Palsy and pushes a hand pushed wheel chair. Once before they offered her an electric wheel chair, but she refused because she was afraid she would lose the use of her arms if she didn’t push it herself. However, she has a very hard time using her arms and insists that she is OK. It would be so nice to let her get that chair on the picture I sent. I never told her I was trying this so she may refuse again. But that was last year and this past year of forcing her way up the hall at a slow pace to try and reach her next class before the 2000 other students came into the hall has really worn her out. She is precious and helps others see that life is so special and any obstacle can be overcome. She is hard-working and never complains. I would like to see her blessed like she blesses others.

We are getting such stories of courage from people all over the world. The friends I am meeting are truly incredible.

Keep voting,
Maid Marian

Weekly Wishes

Wednesday, November 22nd, 2006

Well, Hello Wishers!
I hope you are all having a great week. It is snowing here in the Sherwood Forest and that little layer of snow is making everything outside my window look beautiful today. As it is Wednesday, I am looking forward to you reading about this week’s fund recipients

Me, Myself and I
Gunnar needs some car repairs in a big way. Hopefully, this week’s Me, Myself and I fund will be able to help out. Hope you can get some stuff done on your car to keep it going. Good luck!

Twist of Fate
Matt your new life in Spain sounds fascinating! We’d love to hear more about what it is like to move to Spain and live there. I think the community really voted for you because you mentioned that your cat was weeing in your kitchen. Definitely vote worthy. The fund for Twist of Fate won’t get you a complete new kitchen, but hopefully it will be a good start. Do they have Ikea in Spain? I love that place for kitchen stuff.

Health and Wellness
Icefire’s wish to help pay for her parent’s medical bills really struck a chord with our community members. This category was a tough competition this week, so congratulations Icefire!

Weekly Wish
Shawn wants a WII. So does everyone else. His story seems to have resonated with our community though, because he got the most votes. I think it was the comment about not being able to buy it before your wife’s wedding ring. Remember, we expect follow up on life with your new WII, so send us some photos!

Help Me, Help Others
zat24 told an amazing tale of the growing up in a house made of thin plywood. You have received the most votes for your wish. I hope that the funds you get will help your parents with some home renovations.

This past week was filled with wishes from some amazing people. Now, there are many new wishes up for voting from more amazing people. As a community member, please take the time to go through some of them and vote. You’ll be impressed with what you see!

Cheerio,
Maid Marian

Last Day of Voting

Tuesday, November 21st, 2006

Happy Tuesday, Wishers!

Thought I’d remind everyone today is that last day to:

1. Vote on this week’s wishes. Have you voted on wishes you think are worthy?

2. Get your wish in for tomorrow’s fund. Have you wished for something special?

I can’t wait to find out what wishes will be granted tomorrow! As soon as the Merry Men let me know, I will post them on my blog for you to read.

Until then, may fortune shine on thee,
Maid Marian

Today, I am profiling icefire’s wish to help her parents.

Medical Expenses for Diabetic Parents

i belong to an average family of 1 son and 3 daughters… among the 4 children, i was the one whom my parents had highly hoped to give them a better life mainly because i always graduate with medals and honors from pre-school to college. our eldest brother has now a family of his own, my two sisters had not even graduated. it makes me feel guilty coz i failed them when i got pregnant and decided to be a single mother. my father did not speak to me for some years. my priorities had changed and focused on my own life and my son. however, i wanted to give something for my parents thats why i posted my wish here.

both my parents have diabetes..it pains me to see how the are suffering from this sickness. My father’s eye sight is already deteriorating at the age of 59 so he could not do anymore work but to stay at home. My mother owns a little store but her income is too little even for their own daily expenses such as food and other basic needs. normally, my mother just boils on some medicinal plants for them to drink as an alternative source of medicine. i know they would need constant fbs and medical check-ups as well as operation for their eyes.

my income at work is just enough for me and my son. my birthday will be on the 18th of december, i just hope, u can grant my wish and take this as the greatest gift i will ever have for my birthday which is helping my parents.

Icefire, I think you are a great daughter. Thank you for sharing your wish with us.

Merman was kind enough to send us some background information on his wish:

6 lounging chairs for the Corvallis Cancer Radiation Center

My first wife was diagnosed with and passed away from Cancer several years ago. While she was undergoing treatment, there were times when it was hard just to get through the treatments. Chemo, and radiation in varying degrees can take a real toll on a person’s well being as you might well imagine. Recently, I had occasion to frequent a waiting room for Cancer patients of all types, breast cancer, bone cancer, and many more too numerous to mention. Did you know that there are more than 300 different types of cancer and that they all have different methods to try and control/stop them? I had some conversations with some of the patients waiting for their treatments, some had to come some distance and would arrive a bit early for their treatments requiring that they wait some time. Those that had had several treatments were many times very tired and not really feeling that great. It occurred to me that anything that can be done to make waiting more bearable should be done. The idea of lounge chairs, that would enable people to “put up their feet” while they wait for yet another treatment that would probably make them feel worse before better would be a kindness that could not be measured except by the smiles and contentment of those using them. The chairs they have now are ok, but they are simple upright chairs that don’t make it possible to really get comfortable while waiting. Some patients must come back for as many as 40 treatments sometimes waiting 20 - 30 minutes for their turn! I’m very humbled by how well they “get on with it” , the endurance and patience that they exhibit, and how they encourage each other to get through the process. Knowing that they have a “comfortable” chair to relax in while waiting for treatment is a “luxury” that is not an expense that can be borne by the clinic, but would seem to be an ideal wish for the Robin Hood Fund.

I love that Merman took such a personal experience and made it into a wish that could really benefit others. He has definitely embraced the spirit of Robin Hood and the Sherwood Forest.

Thank you for sharing your story with us Merman,
Maid Marian

Weekly Wishes

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

It’s time to grant some more wishes and I just want to say I am thrilled to share their stories with you.

Me, Myself and I
Kimc has a pretty sad story about breaking up with her fiancé, getting stuck with the bill for her engagement ring (for shame!) AND needing work done on her car. The community felt her wish should be granted and she will be getting the pot to help pay for all of this.

Twist of Fate
We all have aging parents and DeeS wants to get her family together for a reunion while her mother can still see and hear all of them. I love seeing my family, so I really understand this wish. DeeS, we’d love for you to share some photos of your reunion when it happens!

Health and Wellness
yesdeere has had a stressful month and wished for a massage for her and her husband, who has Crohn’s disease. Her husband also suffered a shoulder injury! The community hopes you enjoy your massages, have a great and relaxing afternoon.

As yesdeere’s request was less than the pot, Sharonma will receive $50 towards a new treadmill. Sharonma, hopefully this will get you just a little closer to your treadmill.

Weekly Wish
AmandaA needs a mac book for school and is now closer to getting one. AmandaA, we all know how hard it is to have enough money to get yourself through school and the community wishes you well! Send us your report card so we can feel like proud parents!

Help Me, Help Others
MikeD is going to be able to give his mother an early Christmas present. His wish for helping his mother with Christmas expenses has been granted. MikeD, let us know how it turns out!

Once again, keep submitting your wishes.
Cheerio,
Maid Marian

Update

Friday, November 10th, 2006

DouglasB, recipient of the weekly wish fund, has truly embraced the spirit of Robinhood Fund! He decided to donate his weekly wish fund to Katocat, the wisher for Lasik eye surgery.

We here in the Sherwood Forest think this is a noble gesture that deserves great recognition. DouglasB has some amazing Karma coming his way.

A round of high fives to both DouglasB and Katocat, let’s bust out the minstrels for some Friday merriment!

What’s up wishers?

Thursday means we have some new granted wishes to tell you about!

Me, Myself and I
Ryan429, my dear boy. My heart cried out after reading about your girlfriend and apparently, mine wasn’t the only one. Your wish has been granted and you will be receving the funds for Me, Myself and I this week to go towards transferring Universities. I wish you luck.

Twist of Fate
DebbieW’s tale of woe has inspired the community to support her wish! She will be getting $50 towards fixing her small home repair job that went awry.

Since there is more than $50 in the fund, the next wish has also been granted. Also worth $50, Sharonm’s wish to help the Millionaire Hopeful, Chase Sampson has been granted. The Merry Men are interested in what a Surge Protector is and I am very interested in how Sharonm will be getting the Surge Protector and book to Chase. Hopefully, Sharonm will keep us posted and we can post some follow up soon!

The fund rolls down to a third wish this week, with jjd getting $100 towards a Rhodes Piano. jjd, maybe I could bring my lyre over one day and we could jam. I do enjoy a good ballad.

Health and Wellness
Katocat’s wish of Lasik surgery is $200 closer to reality! This is not something we have in Sherwood Forest, but I am very intrigued! I think if all of the Merry Men didn’t need glasses, their stealth quotient would go way up!

Weekly Wish
Douglasb has his wish granted. Our weekly wish was sponsored by Gwabs.
Your plea for more material possessions has been answered. Was it noble? No. Will you love your new xBox360? Yes. That is what the weekly wish is about. As I said yesterday, tales of woe AND tales of glee! Douglasb, let us know how much you enjoy your new xbox360.

Help Me, Help Others
Milom, the community wants you to have an iMac to test the website designs on the Mac platform too. Keep us posted!

Once again, merry folks, I bid you adieu. Keep submitting your wishes.
