Full Swing into Spring
April 3rd, 2008
The kids are all back to school after spring break, the snow is melting (for those of you that get snow), there’s a certain something in the air…
Spring is around the corner, can you feel it? I’m not one for New Year’s Resolutions really, I feel it is just setting myself up for failure. However, I am all about making summer plans at the first sign of Spring. Here are my top plans:
-Bar-be-ques with Mojitos and friends
-lazy afternoons with Pimms
-team Lawnbowling (this is going to awesome!)
-hikes in the Rocky Mountains (Kananaskis Country and Banff National Park)
-hanging with my parents at their place on the Lake
What does everyone else have planned for summer? Any GoN meet-ups? You know I’ll totally come along if you guys are planning anything!

Sounds like you have some wonderful plans. Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, our spring break is just beginning. Our summer plans seem to revolve around Myrtle Beach, dance competitions, some outlet shopping, and maybe a daiquiri or two or three.

A poem for spring by me:
Spring, Come
Ah, Spring: What finer word can be uttered?
Grassy swards, all cup buttered;
Pussywillows, all fuzzy tails;
Cheeky Robin morning hails.
Sweet sky of cotton candy blue
Picture frames shy sky anew.
Dear spring, come to us on trembling feet;
Share thy beauty, thy dawning heat;
Pinkly kiss trees in petaled splendor;
Yearly birthing . . . nature’s mender.
Open skies pour forth libation;
Scented breath of wine fermentation.
Oh, Spring, winter-fasted earth awaits:
Upon wind dandelion dancing skates.
River, swell, birth forth your waters,
Quicken acorn’s dormant daughters.
Bumble bees a-maying go;
Beasties promenade, and find your beau…
Ah, Spring, dear Spring,
Oh, Spring, come.

Beautiful poem!.. I can’t wait for it to feel like spring! the birds will be chirping, and the bees will be trying to make out with them for some reason…

Big plan so far is working at the Cadet Training Centre in Kingston again. This year in a more specialized capacity. Teaching kids to sail, and tie knots, and all sorts of fun stuff.

I built a barbecue the other day, so I will be having fun with it. It’s a little charcoal thing. Nothing fancy, but a step up from the hibachi I’d been using.

I would love to learn how to sail.
…and I”m intensely curious about how you built your own bbq!

LOL, Oh I wish I could claim to have built it from scratch. I suppose “assembled” would have been a better word.
As for sailing, if you can find a friend with a boa, and is up to teaching you, it is totally worth while. It’s one of the most liberating things one can do. Especially in a boat without a motor (though I reccomend having one on any sizable craft). It can be very intense, or extremely relaxing. And sailing with a group can create bonds like few other things I’ve experienced.
Now you’e done it. Spoiled my perfectly rotten mood, and got me smiling.

Love spring!! Just waiting for it to get warm enough to put some plants in. I have a bird feeder in front of my huge window, which I can look out when I am on the computer. Getting alot of chickadees, which I love. Can’t wait until my hummingbirds come. Had 2 the whole summer last year. I also have a chipmunk that hangs out. I see him all through the day, scurrying across my porch. He eats the bird feed that has fallen on the ground.
No big plans for summer. Just spending time with family, and maybe riding the motorcycle, if we can afford the gas!!! Love riding, especially when we ride along the great lakes. Awesome, sad that Michigan is in such a sad state, as it is a beautiful state. I love it here.
So, we will probably go camping, there is a campground up north in Interlochen, MI. It is a campground only for motorcyclists. It very inexpensive, and you meet lots of very nice people. If we can’t afford to go that far, there is a beautiful campground near our home, right on a lake.
I will hook up with my daughter and grandaughter, and go to the lake. We are lucky, as there are lakes so close to us. One about a mile away! I love the water, find it calming!! My grandbaby loves to swim, we have such a great time just playing in the water. She makes me laugh, her and her Mom both have the ability to give people a good laugh.
So, to sum it up, we will camp, swim, spend time together, and laugh!!!
