Changes At GoN

Dear Community,
Due to the current economic environment, we here at GoN have had to make some tough decisions as of late. As some of you have noticed, a few of these pressures have taken their toll on the community here at GoN, and we apologize for any of these technical mishaps.
We are not trying to make a profit with GoN. Rather we see value and want to invest in a community of people who support one another and help bring joy into the lives of those who are need of a helping hand. However the costs with running a site of this magnitude are very high, so we will not be continuing to fund the weekly wish round portion.
Instead we will be moving to a monthly system, where $200 will be given out on the 7th of every month in the same Greedy or Needy categories fpr the time being. Everything else on the site will remain the same. We know this is unfortunate, but we hope that you can understand the reasonings behind it.
We will also be moving to a new server sometime in the next 2 days, so the entire site will be down for an hour over this time. Again, we apologize for the inconvenience and disruption.

when does this start? Will that mean you get one greedy and one needy or just one will win 200.00 so confused. You know I am a little slow.

I think he means that they are keeping the winning pot the same but they are stretching out the time between rounds from weekly to monthly? Do I understand that correctly Doug?
I have to say I am not surprised. I can understand why.

I can completely understand your decisions. Things are hard right now for millions of people. I’m just happy that the forums will still be here.
I like Missin’s idea, if a person does in deed want to put a wish up, maybe a dollar per wish would be a good idea.
How about bringing back the donate button, only maybe this time making it a direct link to the member? Of course, that wouldn’t be good, because there are many private angels here who
would rather donate anon.

Completely understandable. Many of us are just here for the forums anyway. Most make wishes just for fun.

why not add a donate button to individual wishes and take a 1 percent fee for the company
for example if someone wants to donate to someone they click donate on thier wish gon gets the money takes 1 percent out and then sends the proceeds to the user, while still giving the monthly prize just a thought

I agree with the need for the donate button, but think it should go directly to GoN to prevent giving out the donating person’s information. My wishes are usually put up for fun for others to have something to smile about. I don’t ever expect to win, but may want to fulfill the wish of someone else if I can. Paypal helps prevent some information from being given out but it is not fool proof.

I understand the change just too bad things are so costly for everyone and needs are so great.
Doesn’t seem to be the activity on the site since the change, my opinion.
I even thought two weeks would be good as it gives someone knew to the site sometime to get the hang of it.
You are doing the best you can Doug and GON Staff. Not easy running a website.

Did you know you have a spelling mistake? fpr => for?
And coop, $25 a week = $100/mo. Why not make it $50/week and then it equals $200/mo? Makes more sense to use all of the money available!

I am old and don’t like change.I don’t like the monthly wish thing.It was so much more fun when it was weekly.Even 2 times a month wouldn’t be so bad.However,I realize that the “powers that be” have spoken,without comment from the 2.0 self-governing wishsite members,so I must accept it.I really like the chip in and other features added.Barb

Totally Understandable…And Yes maybe you should do somthing like a little amount weekly…Like someone mentioned above a MONTH is Long..LoL…But this is a NICE & Fun site anyways. GOD BLESS GOOD LUCK! With the Changes
