ok my friends, I have helped many of you with your wishes and now I could use your help.
I really need my kitchen back!!! to the left is a current picture of my kitchen (in it's present state). it has been this way for over a year!!! as you can see, the floor is in really bad shape. last time i asked for money for kitchen counters/lower cabinets...this time i am asking for the means to redo the kitchen floor. this needs to be done before the counters/cabinets are installed.
we need to rent an electric grinder to get the glue off that whoever laid in the first flooring in this old house (70 yrs. ago) used. that is $40.00 a day. then we need plywood to lay down, and the vinal tiles to lay on top of that. $500.00 will get pretty much all of the flooring materials. my hubby and I can do the work, we just need the funds to get the stuff to do it with!!!
we have had a long drawn out period with very little income coming into the household. my hubby's work has been up and down for a long time, and about the time we think we're going to get caught up, he gets laid off again. so we never get there and then we get even further behind.....it's a never-ending cycle for us!!!
I am aware that a few weeks ago there was another wish posted very simular to this one. when I read that wish, I thought....she's got my kitchen!!!! lol not the same one I assure you!!
I am posting this wish in the 'naughty' category, for the simple reason that I would never post a wish in the 'nice' category that might take votes away from the most needful wishes. even though this wish is very much needed, it's not 'life-threatening' nor 'critical', therefore I thought it best to post it in the 'naughty' category.

Is there a Habitat for Humanity Re-Store in your area? We were able to "rent" a machine we needed and buy lumber to repair a handicap ramp for our neighbor at very VERY low cost. When we took the machine back, they found out what we'd been doing and didn't charge the $5 rent for the post hole machine, and gave us a voucher to cover what we'd spent out of hand to help her.
Google Habitat for Humanity, and look for the links to Re-Store. The one near us had beautiful non-slip tile, not vinyl, very inexpensively, because it had been donated by a builder that ordered it and then the client changed color schemes...They also had some beautiful counters and backsplashes at about 1/5 of retail!
it may be different there, but it never hurts to look!
