My daughter 5 1/2 and mildly autistic.
Her biological daddy walked out on her over 2 yrs. ago. He moved 2000 miles away and we heard nothing from him. My b/f of 2 1/2 yrs. has been with her everyday of that time taking on all the responsibilities of being her daddy. All of a sudden I started to get threatening letters from her biological father saying he wanted visitation since he pays support (garnished wages against his will). He expected me to put her on a plane and send her to him. He cannot even care for himself let alone an autistic child. (bathes 1 time a month, can't cook, and knows nothing about autism or child care) I was able to convince him to sign over his rights to my fiance' so she could have a real daddy but last month just after we were married our income took a huge hit and we lost over $600 a month making it difficult for us to raise the last little bit to pay for the adoption process. The biological father has signed over his rights but due to not having the money this still gives him the opportunity to change his mind. he would only do tis to get back at me and the dangers for my daughter would be unimaginable! Please help us get the rest so She can have a real daddy and get her out of harms way! Thank you to all who respond! (more)

You have my 5, my husband of 2 years adopted my 2 children about 1 1/2 years ago. My youngest is mod-severe autistic (high functioning) and also has severe adhd. I wish you all the luck in the world. Takes a awesome man to do something like that (i should know). He must love you and your daughter very very much.
You have my five. It takes a good man to take on someone else's children. I have 2 step children and it gets rough sometimes.
I voted & propped all your comments and hope you get the help you need. I'm sure theres some resource out there to help you in time. I know with dwarfs trying to adopt or, average size trying to adopt dwarfs, there are lots of people who will help with adoption processes. Google autisim support agencies and info for adoption, I'm sure somethings will pop up, I forget what sources my parents used (My parents adopted my nephew, their grandson and were able to get funding because he's mildly autistic), but if I come across them again, I'll let you know.
