So let's do it ONE MORE TIME ~~~ For the Eighth (8th) TIME!~~~~ WOOHOO!!
I am disabled, on SSI. I have degenerative disc disease, spinal stenosis, fibromyalgia, lymphedema, and a whole bunch of other things wrong with my body. Washington State Medicaid will not pay for an electric scooter for me, because my house is too small for one. I don't need it for inside the house, anyway. 20 steps will take me anywhere I want to go, and I can do that with my walker. I need the scooter for outside. Getting around is very difficult for me, and I use a walker. But on some terrain, and for long distances, a walker is not very feasable. I would like to be able to go to certain places with my husband, but can't, because of my limited mobility. A scooter would help in this regard. Please support this wish, as I have no other way of getting one. Thank you. (more)

I gave my 5 and fully know what it is like to have limited mobility my dad was lucky enough to get his thru the VA when he had his stroke state of Ga would not pay for his and he could not walk cause parlazed whole right side so i feel for you and I hope my 5 helps u get your scooter

My mother has many of the disabling ailments you have. She as well, was in pain and required assistance to get around. Mom was fortunate and got a scooter through her health insurance. Everyone please vote for this lady!! There is nothing more disheartening than to have your independence taken away simply because of lack of money. Good luck You've got my 5!!!

I'm sorry you live in Washington. It is beautiful in some places, but all of their social service programs SUCK! I hope you get your scooter :)

Of course you have my Five! Have you tried: [ link ] ? They have a program were if they are unable to get it for you through your insurance program - they will give you a scooter absolutely FREE! It wouldn't hurt to try. I hope it helps. God bless!

okay, guessing you aren't going to get your wish this time either, let me make a few suggestions. First try the Mobility Store at [ link ] These are wonderful people who will bill just about any insurance you can think of in an attempt to get you, your chair for free. Second, contact your state healthcare provider. As that you are disabled, and on SSI you are entitled to your state health care. Usually your health care provider doesn't want you to know they will pay for a chair outright if your Doctor says you need it. That would mean they have to pay for something. And lastly there are alot of groups in your community that help with things, especially those you would never think of. The Lions, The Knights of Columbus, The Masons, are all groups that help in very specific ways (Masons=Shriners Hospital; Lions=glasses) However, if you contact your local chapter, quite often the members of the orginization have funds that they might let you have for a worthwhile cause. I really hope your wish comes true this time. You really deserve to be able to have the mobility. People forget to appreciate being able to leave the house and being able to walk well for that matter. I understand your need for a scooter. When I was 13 I had to have a knee surgery that actually made my problems worse and for a whole year I was basically stuck in my bed because I wasnt allowed crutches or wheelchairs by my doctor and my house was also too small. I'LL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS! And Hope your wish comes true!!!
