I would like this year to start with hope.
I'm not ready to be housebound till I am disabled enough to need a scooter for home mobility which is what is required by medicaid before they will authorize one.
I am a physically challenged mother who cares for a developmentally and emotionally disabled adult son as well as my younger 17 year old son. I also rescue and cares for disabled pets.
I am able to stand and walk for short periods at a time so I am ineligible for a scooter from my insurance. I do have a rollator to help me for those few minutes of walking but I have however become rather housebound because I can't stay on my feet long enough to do anything outside of my home.
Going to our local botanical gardens with my family is something I loved to do but can no longer do. Shopping at discount stores is extremely difficult as they do not have mobility scooters for customer use. Going for a walk around the block is impossible now.
I would need a 4 wheel scooter designed for indoor/outdoor use since most of the activities I do for animals and family events are outdoors. Most of these begin at $1000 new but a friend knows someone who is selling one for $300 and if I raise the money soon I have a good shot of getting it.
If you want to check the status of donations (or donate if you can) you can check my Chip In page it shows real time contributions to the scooter fund. You do not need a paypal account to donate as I have a premier account and can accept CC donations [ link ]
There is also a good refurbished scooter here that comes with warranty and free ground shipping

Good luck
Thank you everyone for all your support of my wish. I realize I'm not going to win this round and that's fine because the two front runners in the needy category really deserve to win and they both have my full support. I'll be trying again in the next round. Again thank you everyone. Your support is heart warming.
Good luck! I know what it's like to be housebound - I can't go anywhere where I have to walk very far. I can walk a little bit, so like you, I can't get a scooter. I did get a wheelchair, though, and that helps a lot!

I think it is so sad that you do not qualify just because you can stand a few minutes .. my husband has M.S. and while he can walk and does..he falls ..he has almost no balance (people think he is drunk most the time). You need a scooter! It so angers me that we have to be nearly dead before we can get the medical things we need!!!
This is the requirement for Scooters taken directly from the medicare website [ link ]
There is more info here: [ link ]
Power wheelchairs and scooters
For Medicare to cover a power wheelchair or scooter, your doctor must state that you need it because of your medical condition. Medicare won’t cover a power wheelchair or scooter that is only needed and used outside of the home.

you got my 5
I will be back
good LUCK
u got my 5 when votes start!!! good luck
This is a really nice scooter. My sister bought one for me. It breaks down very easily for transport in the car and the heaviest piece is the battery. You definitely do not want the 3-wheeled version. I rolled mine in the driveway. Luckily I had my cell phone and could call my son for help. I hope you manage to get one!
This is not a greedy wish. It's a needy wish. I'll be back when the voting starts. Hugs, Vicki
