You have my full support! Thank you everyone for all your support of my wish. I realize I'm not going to win this round and that's fine because the two front runners in the needy category really deserve to win and they both have my full support. I'll be trying again in the next round. Again thank you everyone. Your support is heart warming.
Rally the troops! You should totally Win! Good luck! I know what it's like to be housebound - I can't go anywhere where I have to walk very far. I can walk a little bit, so like you, I can't get a scooter. I did get a wheelchair, though, and that helps a lot!
My doctor is going to try for a transport chair for me. I can't use a wheel chair for a few different reasons, one being my left hand doesn't work right and I can't operate a manual wheel chair independently, the other being that same restriction of not needing it inside my home especially since I am encouraged to stand/walk as much as possible to keep with my exercise program to keep my leg muscles strong. I'll know about that in a week or so if I can at least get a transport chair. I don't really want one because It really robs you of independence...but being in the house all the time robs you of life so at this point I'll do what I have to do to at least have a life.
Believe in your wish & Reach for the stars! Sounds like you're a very strong person! Keep doing what you need to and eventually everything will fall into place. Good luck with your wish hon :)
Thank you kindly for your comments. I do believe eventually everything will fall into place. If I don't have a scooter by spring then it just means I'm not meant to have one for some reason. There is a reason for everything and I will be on wheels when I am suppose to be. My heart wants to be out there doing things and enjoying life, but perhaps there is a reason I'm stuck in my home...maybe it was to meet this great group of people on GON!
I have a wish on WUAH too it's been up since Jan 9

You touched my heart and I reached for the stars I think it is so sad that you do not qualify just because you can stand a few minutes .. my husband has M.S. and while he can walk and does..he falls ..he has almost no balance (people think he is drunk most the time). You need a scooter! It so angers me that we have to be nearly dead before we can get the medical things we need!!!
So true Lisa...sadly that is so very true. We have to be nearly dead or in my case beyond all hope of living a happy life before we get some of the things we need. Medicaid follows the same guidelines as Medicare. There is simply no way I can be eligible. I can't push my doctor to lie because saying I am unable to sit/stand will then damage my authorization for many other things like my walking braces which I still don't have! I have my script in my wallet but no medical store in my area accepts medicaid. I had the same problem with my wrist brace but that was only $30 and I just paid for that. Leg braces are between $300 and $600 each but most medical supply stores refuse to participate in the medicaid programs due to all the cuts they just don't make a profit.

Power wheelchairs and scooters
For Medicare to cover a power wheelchair or scooter, your doctor must state that you need it because of your medical condition. Medicare won’t cover a power wheelchair or scooter that is only needed and used outside of the home.
Here's 5 stars for you. This is a really nice scooter. My sister bought one for me. It breaks down very easily for transport in the car and the heaviest piece is the battery. You definitely do not want the 3-wheeled version. I rolled mine in the driveway. Luckily I had my cell phone and could call my son for help. I hope you manage to get one!
I didn't even know about this scooter. I just used a photo for the wish. I am actually looking for any 4 wheel scooter I can afford :-) I tried a 3 wheel scooter in a shopping store and had so much trouble controlling it. I think I would prefer something that I wont tip so easy. Thanks for your comments!
