People have given me some good suggestions like looking through Craigslist.com and checking into microgiving.com and modestneeds.org I wont be eligible for Modest Needs as I need a photo ID and can't get one of those till I can get an old marriage license from another state as my name has changed and I need to have my original SSI award papers and those are long gone. It will take me a few weeks to come up with the documents since all this has to be done by snail mail and I need to pay for the copy of the old marriage license so I'll apply again later if I don't find another way to get a scooter.

PM me scrollmaker if you are interested in the documentation you will need for Modest Needs. If you have all the documents in hand perhaps you can apply with them and get a scooter.

Thank you for your suggestion. Just barely did that tonight. I don't know how modest needs works but I got the confirm email and it said my app goes to the Client Advocacy Specialist and I guess I'll know something in the next 3 business days.

I tried the Scooter store and U-Scoot and had the same problem with both. They follow the Medicare guidelines which state your doctor must state you need one *inside your home* for normal ADL. This contradicts the ongoing recommendation that I continue to try to walk inside my home with the use of a rollator. I am encouraged to use my rollator to do normal household chores so that I keep up on exercise needed for diabetes and for my knees also to keep my circulation good in my legs and do not gain weight. The mobility scooter would not even be practical inside my house as I can't even use my walker to go up/down my hallway. I am in a double wide that is not ground level so would have to have a ramp which is not covered. These are the roadblocks I'm running into. I have also been advised not to go to just any doctor who will say I need one inside my home as I would most likely be discovered for fraud. I have been followed since my teens for this disorder and every doctor has said keep on trying...and I don't argue, I have to keep trying because I don't want to become unable to sit or stand at all. Even if I can only do it for 2 minutes at a time it's a matter of independence and I hold my abilities dear to my heart.
