The last couples years have been horrible for my son.
He is 16 and has endured intense bullying and discrimination on the part of students and staff at his high school. He has Aspergers syndrome and was a easy target to put the blame on. The Principal even suspended him for something he did that was part of his disability. Since that suspension we have fought the schools to assist in educating him. We filed complaints they were in violation and got a slap on the wrist. We filed again and somehow they managed to have the case dropped. They have lied to the state and bullied our whole family. We even had people come to our home telling my son that if he didn't leave they would kill him.
The school has offered to do the right thing and then will turn around and tell us no. We went on like this for 3 months , till we decided we can't wait anymore and signed my son up for a virtual online high school. He needs 15 more credits to graduate.
Just this past fall we tried to assist my sister and took out all our savings to help her get custody of her daughter. We spent $4000 to make sure she would get custody. Well my sister did get custody but took off and left us no contact information or any idea if she is going to pay us back. So we pretty much our out of the money. That would have really helped pay for my son's school.
We just want my son to finish school and possibly have a chance for a happy future. My son and I are now doing presentations at Colleges and schools spreading awareness about Aspergers and bullying. We really are enjoying meeting so many great people and have already seen the effects it has when we speak. This is something I want to be able to continue but it will be hard if we don't have the means to do it.
Please consider helping us with our wish. If you want to see what we are doing here is the website autismawareness.tripod.com. (more)

5 for you!
I was a stay at home homeschooling teacher, so I really understand this wish. Try some homeschooling too, you can teach your child anything and get credit for it.

I just wanted to stop in and wish you the very best!! You have my stars!
good luck to you
you have my FULL support! I have a boy who is 17 now...nearly 18. He has fragile X syndrome and is on the autistic spectrum as many frax kids are. He got pretty much the same treatement as your son. He was recommended for expulsion and the behavior specialist told me if I refused to appeal they would expel but because he was special ed the school would have to home base educate him. I said expel him. The asst principal even went so far as to press charges on my son because my son got frustrated and did what we have always taught him to do when he felt out of control. Put your hands in you pockets and walk away...call home and let someone know you need help. He did just that and was turned around, restrained, had the SRO called...who laughed by the way a the idea of arresting him for walking away but he had to do his job. They did and the behavior specialist was his home educator. He was not impressed by the how the school handled the whole thing and really thought it silly the asst princ. went so far as to have my son dragged into court. All the tests and all the crap we went through with the court and they said that basically he was disrespectful and they had to at least give him probation. The probation officer said he needed nothing else, no counciling, no nothing...just be on probation and get it done. We learned about unschooling during this whole ordeal and we quit him the next year so it would not happen again. I hope your wish comes true and you can have your son educated with online high school.
You have my 5***** Good Luck and God Bless!!!!!

Great wish. My heart goes out to you. My little girl has Aspergers too, and going out into public is incredibly stressful for her. She has not yet started school, and it is a concern of ours. I am so sorry that you and your son have had such a difficult time. My HUGS to you both.
You have my 5...and a few tears too. My son is 8 with Asperger's and the bulling has just begun. He really doesn't understand they are until it gets physical. These kids are such sweet kids. I hope you get your HS....please look at my wish too:) Thanks!
May all your wishes come true!!

Hello, and welcome to Greedy Or Needy. So you are aware, this site has a limit of $100 per winning wish each week. Because of this, the likelihood of your wish gaining much support is fairly slim. I just wanted to say, as an Aspie who endured many, many years of bullying, thank you. It is so encouraging to hear that a man as young as your son is out there advocating for us.
Oh, I have a special request. Do you think your son might be willing to type up something about his experiences, and you could post it in the forums here? I think it would mean a lot, and be very helpful to the parents of Autistic children who are on this site. I don't say this often, but bless you.
I will be back to vote...scotty
