$$$ To Help Sherri Ferst Pay Her Medical Bills!

$$$ To Help Sherri Ferst Pay Her Medical Bills!

Sherri and Tom have lot of physical challenges and the medical bills to prove it.

Sherri recently underwent a battery of tests to figure out what is wrong with her. She has no insurance, so those bills will be sky high, and $$ is scarce in the Ferst household. She does a lot for this community, running contests, auctions, helping out the Avon fairy, etc., and I'd like to win this wish to help her out with her medical bills. Can you please give back to her in the form of 5 *****s on this wish? Thanks! Lisa

A Diet Pepsi and a Twinkie Cake!

Well you see this is a family tradition that started a long time ago. His mother was quite the busy mother as she has 5 children. Having so many children meant that you had to economize on some things. So the traditional birthday cake in her household was a yellow cake mix baked at home with peanut butter frosting. Her family adored her recipe and she was always given standing ovations for her creations.

Then one year, disaster struck. It was his tenth birthday and one he would never forget. Half the children were sick with the flu and there was a birthday to plan for! Where was the father you ask? Well he was in the Navy and out at sea for 6 months. He was not due to come home till Christmas Eve. So mom faced this disaster by herself without the loving support of another adult. (Or anyone else to blame).

While she was running from child to child administering cold medicine and Vick's vapor rub the smoke alarm went off. Then everyone was dashing about as smoke filled the air. Black tendrils curled along the ceiling and filled the air. The stench was heavy and her heart was filled with dread as she opened the oven door as a plume of black smoke curled up from what was going to be a birthday cake.

With tears in her eyes she pulled it out of the inferno and turned off the oven. She laid it to rest in peace on the cement front porch to be mourned. (So it did not catch the rest of the house on fire of course!) The neighbors looked on with curious expressions as the children gathered round to pay their last respects to a tradition that had been the highlight of their birthdays.

Collecting herself and wiping the tears from her blackened face she looked at her oldest son and declared ?You will have a birthday cake!? She marched inside and grabbed her car keys muttering under her breath. What she said I dare not repeat to young ears. The children watched in dismay as their mother asked a neighbor to watch over them as she went to the store.

While she was gone the children looked around dumbstruck. What had started out as a triumphant and joyous day had turned serious and sad. Their adoring mother had never failed at anything before. They cleaned up the mess hoping to cheer her up when she got back.

She returned about a half hour later. She shooed all the children out of the kitchen without a word. She carefully pulled them out of the box and wrappers. With intense concentration she stacked them using Cool Whip as her mortar. She used every skill that Lego had taught her. She had added a dollop of creativity from Betty Crocker. She smiled at the finish result as she added some birthday candles.

She called out in a clear voice as she put her apron away ?Children come here it is time for Birthday Cake!? The children were astounded as they had not seen their mother bring in a store bought cake. Nor had they heard her mixing or setting the timer for a new cake. They hurried to the kitchen and stared jaws agape. Their mother was holding a SQUARE CAKE!

She began to sing Happy Birthday to you?Cary wiped away a tear knowing how much she loved him. He swore to his mother that day. I will never eat another birthday cake unless it is Twinkies and Cool Whip and a square cake!

Okay honestly this is just a story to make you laugh. December 9th is my husband's birthday (his name is Cary). He jokingly told me that he wants a Diet Pepsi and a cake made from Twinkies and Whip Cream for his birthday. Well if this wish wins I will give him just that! Just to see his reaction! I promise to take pictures too! I will use the rest of the money to take him out for his birthday! So help me astound my husband by giving him exactly what he asked for!

PS The video shows you how to make home made Twinkies!

To help others have some Christmas magic

To help others have some Christmas magic

I have so many things that I will not use, but many others have requested them on GON, and WUAH. I want to grant these wishes so badly since I have ornaments, artificial trees and lights. I have always been an after Christmas deal shopper. So now I have excess, but it has been very challenging lately just making sure that my children's needs are met. I am asking for this wish for shipping to a few members here and at WUAH as stated.

I have the items, and can show proof of where everything is going, but I just can't afford shipping at this time.

GRANTEDGroceries - Had to pay for surgery co-pays up front -

GRANTEDGroceries - Had to pay for surgery co-pays up front -

This wish has been granted by the loving members of the community. Thank you all so much.

I am re-running my wish for groceries. I am still trying to dig out of the hole created by our medical bills, lost work and lost wages. My trip to urgent care and minor surgery last week set me back $210.00 upfront plus my son's surgery on the 19th had to be paid 10% (what insurance doesn't cover). That came to $159.63.

Last month I had to push bills off until this month. I get paid once monthly. I had $103.27 left after paying the bills and Chris's surgery co-pay. I have 6 mouths to feed and not enough to get by.
We make too much to qualify for free or reduced lunch. School lunches are just under $160.00 per month for 4 kids and the kids have been packing their lunch for the past 3 months.
I don't even have enough to buy their school lunch supplies (pb & j, chips or fruit, and individual juice boxes, paper bags, and ziplocs)

I've already told the family there will be no money for Christmas or Christmas dinner this year.

Please pray for us and give us your vote!

My son is old enough to understand that we can't afford presents, but, at 13, he's always hungry. He's a super kid, and has had to grow up too fast since his father died. He has had to take on a lot of adult responsibilities due to my disabilities, but he's eating us out of house and home. We have another month before the cost of living increase on my SSI/disability kicks in. We may have to resort to slaughtering and eating my stuffed cow collection. Please help us (and them). They are too cute to die!!!

Wish amount changed to reflect donations. Thank you so much.

Well this year has just flew by and Braden and Sara, my twins, are just growing too fast. They have become regular escape artists at every turn. Well this one is not so funny. While driving to the store Braden got out of his carseat. He literally got his arms out quietly and the stood up in his seat. I freaked out (thankfully I wasnt driving)! We went to our local police department to make sure we were buckling him in correctly, they said yes. Now due to his size (small for his age) He has an advantage of being smart enough to wriggle out of tight spots. They told us to get the rear/forward facing upright seats with the 5 point harness. Walmart carries them for 43$ plus tax. Well now Sara is trying to do the same thing so we need both very soon. At this point in time I just cannot scrape together 100$. Please help Braden and Sara be safer in the car as they love thier car rides. Thank you,
Kim

Dear Santa,
Thank you for the body wash last year, I really enjoyed it, and have used it ever since. Did you get the cookies I left out for you? How are Mrs. Claus, and the elves?
I must admit, I am not only writing to too how things are going. I have a few special requests to make. Money is a little tight on my end this time of year, so I was hoping you could help me give some friends some presents. You know me, and my Star Trek stuff, well, a lot of my friends are fans too, and I'd like to add to their collections. A couple in particular get very Grinch-like around Christmas time, because they can't get past the idea that Christmas isn't only for Christians anymore. So I thought a nice way to involve them would be to buy them an ornament, to put on the tree.
For my new Captain, who is really spear heading change in the cadet corps, and reviving the strength that it once had, I'd appreciate it if you would drop off this Prometheus ornament, by Futura [ link ]

For my assistant in the Supply section, who has been a real life saver, considering my lack of organization,(even though she is a bit of a capitalist) please send a Ferengi Marauder ornament [ link ]

For my old friend, NES, who I don't get to see very much since he moved, an Enterprise-B ornament (he always plays with the refitted Excelsior Class ship on Legacy) [ link ]

For my dearest Ellen, with whom I am building my entire future, please leave the Future Enterprise ornament. [ link ]
And if you wouldn't mind, I'd love to have a couple more for my own tree, which is still fairly Spartan.

Your friend,
Peter

Flannel PJs, A Robe & Indoor/Outdoor Slippers For Heidi

Flannel PJs, A Robe & Indoor/Outdoor Slippers For Heidi

Ok, so it isn't usually that cold in Mississippi, BUT Heidi (sweetblonde65) has been there so long, her thick Minnesota blood has thinned out, and she's freezing!

I want for her to be able to pick out a nice soft, thick robe, some snuggly flannel PJs, and a pair of warm indoor/outdoor slippers, so she can be both warm and comfortable. She's a very sweet lady, and can't afford to buy these herself, so I'd like for us as a community, to grant this wish to keep Heidi warm. Thanks for reading, and please consider giving Heidi your 5*****s on this wish so she can be warm!

My Family To Be Together For Christmas 2nd Try

I put this in needy the first try because I do need this is a big way. I decided to try it in greedy..I guess it could be considered a little selfish to want something for myself no matter how much I need this emotionally =)
As some of you know, I have been struggling with depression and stress due to my son's illness. I feel alone even with a house full of kids (3 still here), and hubby. My parents live in NC and my 2 oldest sons moved to TX and MD in May, niether have the means to come home.. I have not seen my parents in over 5 yrs..and they have not seen their grandchildren. There will be no gifts this yr, (meds, doctors, and bills come first), but that is fine..Christmas isn't found under a tree..and I can think of no better gift to my sons than to have their grandparents here for the holidays. I need someone here that I know cares about me and my children. Husband is no help, he's a man, he wants to "fix" me and tell me not to cry.. I need to talk to my mom about my fears with J's transplant..and get her motherly advice, lectures and love. I desprately need the "family feeling" now, esspecially around the holidays..with 4 brothers and a sister, then having 6 boys, I am use to having family around...my "nest", and my heart feels empty.. I talk to my mom on the phone weekly, and usually we both end up crying..it isn't the same as giving her a hug. Thanks for reading..and won't you please drop off some stars?

Oh no, I can't stop! Well I can if I throw it in neutral before I hit the brakes. But that will only last so long. I don't have much time left before my brakes are completely gone.

I drive everyday. I take the kids to school, head over to the grocery store, put some jobs applications in, and then pick the kids up from school. Then we have their after school clubs and meetings, tutoring, and quite possibly another trip to the grocery store.

I can't stop for a rest but I would like for my truck to be able to. Autozone quoted me $120 for front and back brakes.

I ripped my good bra too many days ago... and normally I just sew it up but its the spot between the breast and its not fixable. sucks. I really really liked the bra. Its a bali bra, got at macy's like 1 and 1/2 year ago. I am a 40 DDD. so I just can run up to walmart and buy another cause they don't sell them. And I cant go without one cause well, it is not appropriate to work without one. I am way to big to be walking around without one on.so... yea.

Sci Fi Marathon *Sci-fi Contest*

"In the 1960s, there still were hundreds of motels with thousands of rooms along Route 66 as it twisted its way from Chicago cago to L.A. and back. None of them stood out from the rest until one day when some unknown event at the Sunshine Motel transformed ordinary things into items of wonder.

Room 10 of the Sunshine Motel and many of its mundane contents a pair of scissors, a comb and so on gained unique and inexplicable properties on that day, transforming them from ordinary objects into indestructible Objects.

The Scissors can turn and rotate any item in three dimensions. The Comb stops time for 10 seconds when you run it through your hair. The Eyeglasses inhibit all combustion in a 20-foot radius. The Room itself is an unchanging haven and a portal to any destination. But it can also take that which you value more than your own life.

To possess an Object is to possess its power.

Using each Object exacts a physical, emotional or psychological cost from the owner. Just holding one makes you a target for murder.

For decades, maybe since the first moment that the Motel Room was ripped from this reality, cabals have formed to collect all the Objects. As always, some just want unlimited power, and they believe getting all of the Objects will give them that. Others want to prevent anyone from ever again using the Objects.

And though their motives vary, the cabals' tactics are similar. It's said that while you have one of the Objects, you have no friends, only people waiting for an opening.

Police Det. Joe Miller was introduced to the Motel Room when a fatally shot young man gave him one of the most powerful and coveted Objects of them all: the Key to the Motel Room. His life is immediately turned upside down when his young daughter becomes lost in the room. In his relentless quest to rescue his little girl, Joe becomes the target of shadowy figures who will stop at nothing to take from him his only hope of saving her ? the Key."

Gorram Reavers! (sci fi wish contest)

Gorram Reavers! (sci fi wish contest)

If they take the ship, they'll rape us to death, eat our flesh, and sew our skins into their clothing. And if we're very, very lucky; they'll do it in that order.

Reavers are nothing to laugh at and no one sane would ever fly right through Reaver territory. But, when you fly with the best damn Cap'n in the 'Verse (who sometimes has the problem of his brain being missing); sane flies right out the cargo bay door. If you are lucky enough to have a fellow crew member who just happens to be an Alliance experiment, you might just make it through Reaver space and live to tell the tale.

If you survive such an ordeal (mostly) intact without having your insides gnawed on, you'd want the 'Verse to know, right?

Which is why I'm wishing for this shiny "I survived a reaver attack and all I got was this go se t-shirt" shirt. We've done the impossible and that makes us mighty.

Yes, I've watched every episode of nearly every Star Trek ever made and I won't turn off Heros unless the house is burning down, but my true love in science fiction is the art of the short story.

Once a year, I used to love to buying "The Year's Best Science Fiction" collection which showcases the best of the best short stories written that year. New authors, old favorites, fantastic stories--each one a tiny work of literary art.

The last year I bought this volume was unfortunately 2003! They are available used on Amazon for around 5.00-11.00 each, so this wish covers as many as I can get of the FOUR YEARS of fantastic stories that I?ve missed. Here is a link to this year's volume: [ link ]

This wish would bring me endless hours of joy, as I read every story dozens of times during the only time I have a moment to myself--when I'm soaking in the tub!
