Thank you for your comment, MM. Yeah, it is very easy to get caught up in the trials of life, especially when going through a crisis. My wife and I do take time to be with eachother, just us, as often as possible. Sometimes our kids are off at friends houses overnight and we sit and wathc a movie on TV and eat popcorn and just chill. Usually once a week, sometimes twice, we go to the local elementary school. They have a newly paved 1/4 mile walking track. Now, I cant walk the track, obviously, but I can roll on it now because the local Pharmacy has donated a new wheelchair for me that is equipped with mountain bike tires. I can't go fast and I can't make it around more than a few times, but while we are rolling/walking, we talk, laugh, dream about what could be and get a little exercise. =)

Awww...Al, you are just the sweetest :) I cried reading this! I LOVE that you and your wife have the track by the school to *walk & roll* around! You know, so many people take their partners/spouses for granted. Your wife is one lucky lady, and I have a pretty good feeling that you are also one lucky man *wink*!!

Yes, I agree and I am going to be on the phone with them every day if I have to. I might even visit their office on a regular basis. I have three letters drafted, one to the Congressman who represents my county, one to the Senator that represents my state and one to the President himself. I have not mailed them yet because I am including documentation such as medical records and function reports and this will cost money for copies and postage. I will be at the post office tomorrow morning, though, you can bet on that!

Bandit, I have a lawyer on this. Have had one since Day 1. That is a whole other issue right there. I don't know if I can change anything in that area at this stage of things. I agree that I need to start bugging them more. I am going to do so forthwith.

First of all, turn off the caps lock. It makes you look stupid and ranty. Second, you're an idiot. Obviously you are either someone who is angry because Al is winning or you're another bitter tool who hates the Isle and anyone associated. Get a life. Maybe you can wish for one?

You realize, you piece of crap, that you are speaking to a Marine Corps veteran who has worked faithfully for years, supporting his family. He worked to buy them a nice home, owned his own business, and then his ILLNESS took all that away. HIS ILLNESS took all that away, how do you attribute that to bad choices? Al didn't choose to get sick, and lose everything. And for your comment about how a dying woman is more deserving than Al - Al's disease could kill him, as well, so who are you to come in here with crazy rantings about something you don't know anything about. Al is a good friend, a great husband and father, and deserves this.

No. No, I don't agree. I do, however, think you need to learn to read things in their entirety and comprehend them before commenting. Al has worked all his life until he became disabled due to a medical disability. How, pray tell, do you think that the disabled who can not work will 'get a job'? You'll pardon me if I'm wrong I'm sure, since you seem the chatty type, but as far as I and the rest of the world has ever known the term 'disabled' is pretty indicative of being unable to work, even if unpleasant little munchkins rant at them in caps.
Shall I recommend that you Google about disability and MS and educate yourself before you go off ranting ignorantly? Or is that too much to ask?

I am sorry if I offended you in any way. Trust me when I state that I would rather be working. I had an excellent career in the hotel industry as an Area Operations Manager for a major hotel chain. I've always been able to support my family. I am not sure if you have me confused with someone else, but I have a progressive and degenerative auto-immune disease that has attacked my central and peripheral nervous system. It is my sincere hope that you are healthy, and if you are, that you remain so and never have to see your life savings being depleted and your personal possessions being given to the highest bidder while the Government program that you paid into for 28 years is sitting on it's behind. I am not angry with you, and I understand that there are many people who would fit your perception of me. However, if given the choice, I would be waking up and heading to work every day, as I have done for nearly three decades. My best to you.

Dude, if he could work he would. He lives in constant pain, imagine if every step you took were as if you were walking on broken glass in bare feet. It is humiliating for him to even have to ask for help. The systems we have in place to help people in his situation are failing him and his family. This is what the RobinHood Fund is all about - helping people who really need it. He really needs it. You need to get a clue.
