I can totally relate to the "you make too much money" thing...we have been denied assistance before for the very same reason--when they didn't subtract our monthly expenditures (rent, gas, electric, water bills) from our income. Ridiculous, isn't it? The system is definitely skewed. I hope you get what you need to have a wonderful Christmas and that your long-term prospects get better. :)
I agree with Michelle about the gross vs takehome. We are in the same situation--I am disabled, my hubby retired but we make 25$ to much for any help. Hopefully next year will be better for everyone. Good luck on your wish, hugs!
We're in that "too much for help, not enough to pay bills" spot too. My husband actually just left his job so that we're saving money on childcare and will now qualify for health insurance for the kids. Sad that he has to not work in order for us to make ends meet.
