Dear Kelli,
As I sat here and watched the video and read about Elitsa's condition my heart cried. I can't imagine the pain and the anxiety that she must be going through. It is not fair that such a young person should have to face such pain and stress. I am especially moved by her courage. While I do not know what it is like to live with SMA I do understand spinal pain. You see, when I was a young child at the age of 14 I had to have major reconstructive surgery on my spine. I had severe scoliosis, which had gone unnoticed by my parents and by the time it was discovered my spine had a 59 degree curve in it (it looked like a question mark) I needed to have steel rods and hinges placed along my spine to keep my back straight and my ribs from rotating too far and puncturing my lungs and heart. But, despite all of that, I was one of the lucky ones...I can still walk. I do live in quite a bit of pain, but, I am just happy to be alive. I am writing all of this because my heart goes out to Elitsa. I know that our situations are not the same, but can relate to her on some level and I know that living in chronic pain sucks! I would like to ask anyone out there who is reading this to please consider helping us to make this wish come true. I know that you may look at the total of the goal that we need and feel that it is alot of money, but, if we all join in and just donate $5.00 we can make this wish come true. This young woman has such an amazing spirit, and she deserves to live a happy and full life. I have decided that I am going to join Kelli and try my best to find a way to help Elitsa. We are simply asking for your prayers and some small support...if you can't afford to give then please cross post this wish to your friends because you never know how God is going to provide.
