Anyone who knows my parents knows that they deserve a little break.
My mom is on RHF under the user name mightymom239, check out her profile. She has been going around voting and encouraging people and has yet to make one wish for herself.
For the past 31 years my parents have been caring for my 4 brothers, my 3 sisters and I. I have talked to several of my siblings about this and we all agree that the reason we have become the good people that we are, and the reason that the ones of us who have neurological, social and learning challenges have done so well is because of the support and teaching we got from our parents.
Even now, as an adult I still can count on my parents. I am a single mom with 5 boys, some of whom can be very challenging. There have been times that my parents have dropped important things just to come and help me out I think that they, more than many people , deserve a break... even more than I deserve my desk chair!
what I want to do is put together a little pampering kit, a few bath/massage products from Lush (for some reason even though they are strongly scented they don't seem to bother mom's allergies, a bottle of Dad's favorite wine, a gift certificate for dinner, a paid for reservation at a hotel that they would have to take Dad's bike on a bit of a road trip to get to, and an envelope with a bit of cash for gas money.
For the past 31 years, these two have been taking care of everyone but themselves. Help me to make their 32nd wedding anniversary this July special and all about them! (more)

Here we go! Good luck, Karen!
This isn't a naughty wish at all!!! They sound like great people and they deserve a special night!!
Great idea Karen! I honestly can't think of anyone more deserving of some pampering.
Karen did a great job in her description, but I need to add a few things.
My parents are the most caring and devoted people I know. Dad has spent about 25 years working underground in the mines to provide for our family. He always puts our needs ahead of his own, going in to work even when he is sick, and taking what overtime he can get. Often he'll go through days never having seen the sun because he went below before sunrise, and came back up after sunset. All of this in a job that Stats Canada has labeled the second most stressful in the country only to air traffic controller! Not only does he work long hours, but he does a fantastic job. As an underground supervisor he received the highest award for safety ever given in the Porcupine region.
With all this time at work you'd think it was one of those stories where he never finds time for his family. Just the opposite! Nearly every waking hour he is helping around the house, taking time to drive us all over town so that we can run our errands, or have fun, helping us with our school projects, and just about anything else you can imagine. Some of my fondest memories are of discussions with Dad. He'll talk with us about whatever subject we're interested in, and really listen to what we have to say. He encourages critical, independent thought, and for us to pursue interest in a broad variety of subjects from philosophy to computer science, and everything in between! I can say for a fact that I would be a much less interesting person if it weren't for dad. I also wouldn't exist, but thats besides the point!
If there is one word to describe mom, it's loving. Aside from everything she does for this family, which in itself is a 29 hour/day job, she is a vibrant, active member of the community. To be honest, I can be rather judging of some people. If I see someone I find unpleasant(not speaking physically), they will have to prove to me that they are not. Not the case with my mother, she is accepting of everyone. While you or I might see a rude, unpleasant, bitter woman, my mom sees only a person, and befriends them without hesitation. For several years she was involved with the local Navy League Branch, which is a support organization for the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets, and the Navy League Cadets. When mom joined, there was a lot of corruption on the Branch, and the relationship with the corps was shotty at best. Neither side was very trusting of the other. My mom was at the center of the change in that relationship. Her kindness and integrity built up the Branch to a stature it had never before achieved, and with its support, the cadet corps grew as well. By the time Mom decided to step down as president, the Branch was fully functional, with honest, devoted members, and the corps was the largest anyone can remember it ever being. They put up a heck of a fight when she said that she needed to step down, and managed to keep her for an extra year. Even now, they keep her as a special adviser to the President.
She is also highly involved in her church. She is the Presbytery Representative, as well as being an active member of the choir. Be to honest, I do not know even the tip of the iceberg with regards to her role in the church beyond the fact that she is currently studying theology, and frequently fills the role of minister at the church.
These two people deserve this break, and I hope everyone will help them get it!
Sometimes it is hard to find the right words, and the words of a few of us will be better at describing than just my own alone.
Aw :-D I can't wait to vote!!! This'll definitely have a five :)
AWESOME! What a wonderful wish!!! Best wishes, and good luck!!!!!
WOW! I'm not sure what to say, but just that you would think of this is an act of love. In the meantime, I will try to keep encouraging others with votes and comments. With 8 kids and 6 grandkids and a partner like no other, I'm blessed.
