This isn't for me, it's for my mother.
My mom smoked when I was young, quit for 12-13 years, but when my dad died November 23, 1998, it wasn't long after she picked the habit back up.
They had celebrated their 26th wedding anniversary the year dad died, and you would have thought they were just married. My parents provided such a wonderful example of what love should be.. I really thought my mom was going to die of a broken heart.
Anyways, my mom expressed feelings on wanting to quit smoking, but I know her financial situation doesn't allow for too many extras including getting the Nicotine patches.
My mom gave me life and I would like the chance to save hers..

Here's my 5!! And thanks for the information everyone about Chantix. I want to quit too, and the way Newauntie describes the process, that may just work for me. Got a question though...... Can you use it if you have heart problems???
Best of Luck to you on this wish!!
It's really quite amazing. I didn't expect it to work so well, and wasn't even sure I was ready to quit. They recommend you take it for a week and then quit smoking, but I took it for 2 1/2 weeks before I quit. By that time I was down to 2 cigarettes a day, and I didn't even really want those. I only smoked them because something in my head said I was supposed to, lol. It's a weird feeling, and if you try this stuff you'll understand what I mean.
It does have some side effects, but for most people they go away with time. The most common, and worst in my opinion, is nausea....but again, it goes away after a little while.
I'm thrilled! I my brain is a little confused, it's strange not having the physical cravings to fight along with the habit, but I'm getting used to it. Good luck to you!!!

Good Luck. My Doctor gave me a prescription for a new drug that is supposed to work very well in aiding me to quit smoking. Its called chantix, As soon as I come up with 100.00 I plan to try it. My insurance wont cover it.
You are not asking for a large amount, that's very humble and should be granted IMHO. You've got my full support, and 5 stars from me! I know how hard it is to quit, and I've been toying around with the idea of posting a similar wish for myself on here, but I don't want to take out of the "needy" pool for my obsession....which only becomes worse, as you said, with stress and life's roughnesses, which seem to come to me in heaps lately.
Good luck to you & your mom. You are a very good daughter.
Girl in tears.
Good for her for doing this and good for you for supporting her! Best wishes to both.
Have your mom ask her insurance company if they cover Chantix. It's a new drug that helps people quit smoking. I started taking it last month, and this month, on April 7, I quit smoking. Haven't had a cigarette since April 6. I had tried the patch and Zyban before, but always went back. This Chantix stuff is like magic!!! But it's not cheap if your insurance doesn't cover it, about $100 a month for 3 months. Something to look into anyway! Good luck to your mom!!!
Congrats on not smoking, you should be really proud of yourself!
It ain't easy, but it really is the best thing any smoker can do.
Good luck! :o)
Thanks for the support!!
Best wishes!
Good luck~
Tell your Mom good luck! I hope you win!

good luck to your mom!
My mother has smoked for as long as I can remember. She doesn't smoke a lot, maybe a pack a week, but still I would love for her to quit. Best of luck with getting some help for your mom and her quitting again.
you got a 5 from me Mist!!!! sorry about your dad sweetie, and hope everything works out for your mom.
Awesome wish! I'll come back to drop off a 5 when the voting starts!
I shall return!
good luck, i'l be back soon to Vote.
Good luck!!! I bet she'll save a ton of money just by not buying cigarettes! LOL I hope that she can quit for good this time. =)
I chew tobaco, and know how difficult quiting on your own can be. I quit every day, then fail it seems like. I really hope you win whatever it takes so she can quit.
Smoking is tough to fight, and this is a wonderful wish for your mom !!! When I finally quit for good, I quit cold turkey, but not everyone can do that [and it wasn't easy]. God bless you and your mom !!!
I'll be back !!!
i can't see the voting poll to give our vote :/ good luck though
Your mom is a very beautiful person and not from experience but I know it's hard to stop smoking. I hope you get ur wish!!! Good Luck and God Bless!!!
I used to load my Dad's cigarettes every time he made me buy smokes for him. Noone could get him to quit, not even his "baby-girl" aka my youngest daughter.
He had a stroke at 51 and died just two years ago.
