It seems that my 10 year old son absolutely CANNOT attend school at the moment unless he has a pencil that says USA Papermate
Mirado HB/2 on the side of it in Gold lettering on a yellowish orange pencil.
No other pencil will do. After enduring a tantrum of epic proportions this morning I have decided that it is in the best interest of all in my home for me to procure a whole gross of these pencils (144 of them, in 12 12 packs.)
Just because I have dealt with the comments on other occasions, before they start I will state tha my son has a disability that causes him to be rather obsessive about certain things and it is good to pick my battles. These pencils are 2.50$ a pack. Very reasonable, and so, this is one of those times I would rather just make sure that I do not run out until he moves on to something else instead of choosing to make it a fight. (more)
Comments
pencils, pencils, pencils, May your boy have ALL the pencils he needs to make it through school...until the next need arises...you are right chose those battles, this is not one to be a biggie...so on to: pencils, pencils, and more pencils!!!
I think you are an amazing mother, and the negative comments should truly stop.
People, we live in a world FILLEd with hate, why do we need to add to it???
Try loving one another and coming together, it would make this world a MUCH better place!
ITS CALLED A NAUGHTY WISH!!! Nancy!!! leave her alone!!
Nancy's behavior is plainly quite childish and even a bit freakishly stalker like.
However, to anyone with with more than half a hemisphere worth of brain power these antics only reflects poorly on her. Sad thing is she seems to not be astute enough to see this. Poor soul. I will pray for her enlightenment and redemption.......... not!
My son Isaac felt the need to comment a couple of times while I was in the bathroom felting his new knit mohawk hat in the sink... that is why the random letters.

Nancy, you should grow up a little, you are being overly abrasive and completely ridiculous. You would do better to try a little civility, it goes a long ways.
Nancy i Feel you have stated your point already, but you continue to push an argument for ARGUMENTS sake.
That isn't the intent of this site and if you are looking for a fight you should consider other places.
While I am not saying you do not have a right to make comments, I personally don't see the point in you continuing to comment on this wish (and others) with the same pointless drivel.
Unfortunatly because of your actions you come across as very rude and unpleasent. It certainly makes it hard for me to take you seriously and I am sure it is the same with others around here.
If you insist on asking questions and making statements you could learn to use some TACT, and present yourself in an acceptable manner. At this point everything you post is filled with Vile and Venom and comes across as uninteligent and vindictive.
Please change you tactics. It would do you a world of good and do everyone who come across your posts a world of good as well.

BTW, your brother said you couldn't afford the pencils sweetcheeks
Talk to him
As I stated on my plane ticket wish, because of my children's needs I have been unable to work for a while now and am on a limited budget. Lucky for my children, I am very good at budgeting. We always have what we need and our bills are always paid. Sometimes I do not have money for little "extras". this very well could have been the case with pencils... at least for a short time until more money came in, especially since my son just all of a sudden decided that he could not use any other type of pencil.
I have already purchased one box of these pencils for my son.
I am sorry if you think I took away from this wish. I didn't downvote it, but when he jumped me and called me a troll and then you say that I am following you, trolling. I view all of the wishes every week and have since I became a member. If you have a wish I have either voted on or I have seen it and chosen not to vote.
I apologize but I was rudely attacked for pointing out the obvious to your brother and that was that she was not picking on your son by calling the wish stupid.
The way that you "informed" my bro was rude and you continued to be rude.
You seem to be verbally attack and trolling certain wishes, those wishes (oddly enough) all seem, that I have seen anyway, to belong to members of isle of whack.
If you want to argue, or come after me, head of to IOW and spew your venom there. I am fairly certain that you know where it is.
Thank you for voting this wish up. I do, of course appreciate votes regardless of who they come from.
"I see, that does make a bit more sense.
The reason she's putting in the wish is because she's already spent the money she'd allotted for stationary, and is now faced with this predicament."
Ooops, I meant to! I will do so now, thank you for pointing out my mistake. I still don't see how that initial interaction was an insult, but whatever, impact, not intent. Sorry it came across that way.

Hey Nancy, I gave her a 5, does that make ME dumb too? Hahahahahaha
FOR GOODNESS SAKES PEOPLE!!!
It was a wish that I thought would make a few here smile.
I CAN afford his pencils.
As for it being a stupid wish? Then vote it down, shut up and stop hunting all over the place to insult me.
I don't know what your beef is with me Nancy62, but I KNOW I am a good mother, those who know me know that as well and your intimations otherwise, here and in my mom's carseat wish aren't going to convince anyone differently.
I think my next wish just may have to be for "a booty call for Nancy62" I think maybe you need one. Something to occupy your mind anyway and make you feel good enough for once that you don't feel the need to troll around putting others down. It does not make you look intelligent you know.
and as for Carolyn... I'd rather not give my personal information to someone as rude as you. If you really wanted to help you'd either donate or private message me. You wouldn't say "that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard"
Guys.
THIS SITE IS FOR FUN!!!
FUN!!! GET IT???
You make wishes for anything you want/need/think will make someone smile or laugh, you have fun, and maybe... just maybe... you win something or someone buys it for you. You also have the chance to help others get their wishes! I know I and many here have donated money anonymously or otherwise to various wishes that they support.
Once again. This wish wasn't because I can't afford pencils. I can, and will, and have bought them for him.
If someone gave me $30 for pencils, then my $30 that I would have spent could go back into the budget for something else that would make my boys lives better/more interesting... books, clothes, snacks for a family games or movie night, whatever.

I didn't shit on your wish, your brother insisted I was stupid, how does that help anyone?
you are AGAIN bringing up the airfare. He NEVER made a fuss about the type of pencil he used until the morning I created this specific wish! When I made the other wish I DID NOT KNOW that this would become an obsession.
I made this wish to make people smile and because sometimes when I post things or make wishes mentioning something about my kids I hear cool/funny/similar stories about other people's kids and I love that
also, like I said, it was unexpected and if someone did happen to cover this... which I DO NOT EXPECT, I would be able to take the $30 I will now be spending on new pencils to replace the ones that he will not use, and put it back into my budget for something else that the boys need/ will like.

Thats the dumbest thing I've ever heard. Send me a PM and I'll send you several boxes of them!!!
No one insulted a child
wow
Pointing out that you failed to comprehend a simple statement isn't a lack of an argument, its simply pointing out that yours is built on a flawed premise.
I don't assume anything about your experience, I am only making statements based on my observations. Perhaps you mistook my sarcasm for more than it was. I generally don't like checking the votes, but thanks for voting this one up, even though you thought it was stupid. That was indeed nice of you.
As for finances, again, I don't make her budget, so I don't know it. And as she said, she can fit it in if she has to. Yes cuts can be made here and there, you're right, but it is a naughty wish.
You assume far too much. I have been a single mother and budgeted little or no money to meet my children's needs. If pencils were such a concern perhaps she should have included this money with her wish for air fare to visit a friend, or perhaps she can use $2 of that money which will allow for future budgeting.
Seriously, if her budget is so constrained that a $2 box of pencils is going to cause hardship, I would suggest she turn off her internet access, that should net her $20 a month, maybe $10 if she is on cheap dial up
Resorting to questioning intelligence usually means one has run out of decent arguments.
Check my vote on this wish and compare it to others you know and then come back and tell me what a shit I am, until then you seriously need to stop trying to be so noble, I didn't attack your sister, I said the wish was stupid and yet still I voted an up rather than a down
Please, you are making an ass of yourself for no apparent reason, stop, it really doesn't help anything, least of all your sister
Edited on: Apr 24, 2007 16:42 pm
As for her specific finances, I am not privy to that, but not everyone can spare $2 on something that money has already been spent on. Especially the single mother of 5 boys. Is she supposed to go out and buy 5 different dinners each evening because they don't like what has been ,made. Somethings while needed, have to take a lower priority.
Since you obviously have no needs of your own, and a budget to spare, how about throwing it to one of the people in need around here, rathrer than trolling the wishes of those you have personal issues with.
Oh, and I can play the propping game too.

Again it's a stupid wish, who cannot find 2.50 a week if necessary so their kids can have the pencils they need/want/require/cannot live without?
Most of us could find enough change laying around the house the first week and plan ahead after that, monthly budgeting. I seriously don't think anyone who has a budget at all couldn't fit $2 into it.
The reason she's putting in the wish is because she's already spent the money she'd allotted for stationary, and is now faced with this predicament.
Got my 5, definitely! Every kid deserves a pencil he's happy with!!!
Good luck!
Girl in tears.
I've had teachers that picky - so, I think your son is just fine.
I hope you are able to stock up.
All Best!
My son can be picky about pencils too so I know where you're coming from.
How long would this many last him? A. goes through so many, I swear he is eating them!
Maybe he is!
This has happened at my house!

You know, if pencils make him happy, if that simple thing does something positive for him...5 stars for the pencils!! Much more reasonable that wanting 23 colors of gel pens or something!
pencils it is. Good luck
Good luck :>
OCD is hell to live with. Good luck! :o)
Pencils is something every boy should have enough of, I know I have two boys in school and there's never enough! Good Luck , Lupe
Good luck, I gave you a 5 !!
I wonder how a school with a certain required pencil would deal with a case like this.
This is a riot! It reminds me of the teacher in "Way-side School Gets a Little Stranger" asking a student to walk down the stairs from the 30th floor of the school to get her pencil that she left in the office.... "it's yellow with a little pink eraser on the end"...
Good luck..
I'm back and u have my vote!
KARMA
:) good luck!
Good luck! I know where you are coming from. My cousin's son suffers from the same condition and she goes through this all of the time. He mainly wants Thomas the tank. You can't substitute any other train in his place or he starts getting aggressive.
Yes. Sometimes you must choose your battles versus trying to win the war. Good luck with this one hon !!! You got my "5" !!!
good luck)
5 stars from me, schools are getting ridiculous now. I remember when they used to supply all of these things.
Gotta love pencils!
That sucks. I'd say get him to play with the llama and the duck, but they're pretty solid, and might hurt you, or his brothers when hurled.
You'll have my vote!!! I never knew schools were so strick esp on pencils.
That sounds like something my son would do, but by the time I bought them he would have a different favorite. Sigh.
Hey, if adults can have a lucky shirt or socks, why shouldn't he have a favorite pencil?
good luck!
Awww.. You poor thing.. I sort of understand. My son is not that bad, but he has his times when he gets that way. Does it matter to the school what kind he has? My kids school INSITS on them having Ticoranda Pencils- they come already sharpened and are VERY expensive!! LOL
