Haven't read through the rest of this... but I got my dresser (a nice wooden real actually nice and big, with room to grow) at IKEA for about $95. Another option, good will has great furniture for cheap.

Never give up! You are worth it!
Try Salvation Army or whatever your local equivalent is of Child and Family Services. You should be able to get dressers free.
I hope you get what you need.
