My son Austin has a very hard time sitting still.
He regularly knocks over his chairs and has broken a few regular chairs. Today he is sitting on a exercise ball at a short table and though he is bouncing a bit he is staying at the table, not knocking things over and not making a huge mess. YAY!
The ball chair was something that was mentioned briefly in the past by his occupational therapist but we never got a chance to try one because he no longer qualifies for therapy... underserviced area with many kids who need it more than he does.
Anyway... I'm looking into ways to obtain one of these for him because it will be more stable than having him sit on the exersise ball alone and I thought that I might as well try a wish.
There is the link to the chair [ link ] (more)

Huge 5 to you dear! I hope you get it!!!
What a great idea! and I noticed that parents who are already using something like this are pleased with the results. I'd like to try one.
I hope your wish comes true.
Good Luck!
Good luck :))
5 stars from us!
My son has Autism and has to use the same type of chair at school. It has made a huge difference in him being able to sit. In our case we were able to get it written into the IEP and the school had to pay for it.
If your wish doesn't win try getting it written in as a learning aide.
Considering changing to a different school next year, have to check out that possibility
Those chairs are wizard cool! I want one.
never heard about such thing. but when is for a good purpose...
good luck, hope it helps
My son's school has one that they let him sit on during the day. It has helped him in school soooo much. I hope you're able to get this. good luck.
I think it is a great idea so you have my 5!!
I'm amused. That's a pretty clever idea.
Great wish! I hope he gets it. I know how it is believe me. Good luck! :)
With two boys who are a ahemmm... challenge I totally understand and hope you get your wish.....maybe duct tape onthe ball, seat of his pants or other things that have crossed my mind about my boys ...crazy glue?? Good luck, and can't wait for the butt paint art to show...lol, great break in the monotony of this boring bedrest thing. lol
As for the boys... as a mom of 5 very active boys, I know exactly waht you are talking about. I think the duct tape wouldn't be strong enough though. ;)
Back with my 5, sorry it took me so long. Good luck!
Good luck! You have my 5 stars!
Good luck. It amazes me to see all the things they invent, For Children. I cant say that I have ever seen such a chair, But i know a few kids that could use it. Good luck to you.
COOL idea! I like it! I think I want one, too!
Good luck to you .
here is hoping your wish wins...
That is a really cool chair .... oh oh oh i want it .... but Austin needs it more ... so 5's to you
5 stars for you. Good Luck!

Will his teacher allow it? Do you have to have it written into his plan? I can imagine some teachers complaining that it caused a disturbance with the other kids.
I think it's a great idea and I want to know if it helps because I think it could help my son, but I think the school would fight us over it.

I am currently looking into the possibility of a different placement for him in school next year.
I am looking at the chair for home use... mealtime, homework time and possibly at church for sunday school.
I think that if we have good success this way THEN maybe it will be time to approach the school
Voted 5 stars~ Good luck!
and theres no back on it...
scott sortof made one of those foe me...using my ball and setting it in the bamboo stand from my old bowl chair that was in the fire...the bamboo stand was outside for about 2 years so the smell is gone... its pretty fun to sit on...but sits a little high for the office.
Hmmm how much would it cost for him to build a frame for a small size ball if I bought one? (and would he like to do it?)
I hope your son gets his ball chair Ambrotus!!! good luck with your wish.
I'll be back when the voting starts with my 5 for ya....
When he gets it, tell me how it works. My greatnephew Jamaal may need one, and I can start bullying other family members to get the money together. (That's my job in this extended family, redirecting the flow of cash from selfish adults to the kids with needs... NOBODY needs a $200 belt, ya know??)
I'll be back!
Not only will that help him with not having to sit perfectly still, but doctors are now recommending them to office workers to improve blood flow and proper posture!
5 stars!
I did notice on the site that sells them that they are recommended for all kinds of things... posture, strengthening core muscles etc...
Seems like a good thing all around.
Good luck. You will win.

You have my vote.
remind me I will be back to vote.
Look into the Disco Sit if this wish doesn't pan out. It's much cheaper and provides the same sort of sensory input. If you were close by I would let you test the one we have for our son.

The chair looks much cooler :-)
We have been through so many incidents of having things cut up/chewed up that it seems ridiculous.
I'll be back to vote 5 stars good luck.

I also have 4 other boys.
Great wish I will be back with my vote
Odd looking thing but if it works for Austin it will be worth its weight in gold.
It's supposed to be good for many types of people... helps with building the core muscles in the back and abdomen to strengthen and eliminate back pain for example... good for wiggly kids like Austin...
That would be awesome for him!! I'll be back for sure!!
That looks really neat Karen! Expect my support!
Mom says they look perfect for flippin' klondons of all sizes
