Interesting life, I hope you win your wish. Thanks to you kind folks. It helps to talk to people who have been through this. I am going to go get him in a few minutes. On the phone he said the Dr.'s want to put in a TIPS shunt in a few weeks. He already has a denver shunt (pump) which isn't working. It sounds like a last ditch effort to me. I hate that he will have to go through another procedure. Thanks for your prayers and I am trying to find info on a military funeral.

Interesting life, I hope you win your wish. Just an update - he is in the hospital again, they took 12 liters fluid out of his abdomen. He has a pump in his side, but it is stopped up and they are afraid to remove it because of infection. He is yellow from jaundice and it just breaks my heart to go see him like this. The good thing is that the VA hospital is doing all they can for him and he enjoys all the old Viet Nam vets who are in there with him. Pray for him please.
Good luck! I hope you get your wish. If your friend is a veteran and asks for a MILITARY funeral then they should pay more for his funeral. 250 is what the Social Security death benefit is for everyone. Have him check with the Veteran's administration again. I believe he was misinformed.
