this dedicated group of volunteers [
link ] are building a shelter for rescued animals.
they also offer training to pet owners. there is no SPCA in Creston, the nearest one is 103 kilometers away. the leaders of this group are professional dog and horse trainers, the both have search and rescue dogs. one of them trained my rescued dog to be my service dog.
the photo is of my neighbor's dog, Pippin, which was rescued when it was found abandoned at a campsite and re-homed. the site will include an off leash dog park, agility course, cat shelter, dog shelter, and other rescues, pet boarding, grooming, and behavior assessment.
I will spare you the visuals of what condition these animal are often found in. my service dog, Iris, was so skinny she had sores where her bones were protruding when she first came into my life.

I rescued 2 of my children from my local shelter, I call them children because they are not pets but are family.

My baby came from an animal shelter, her mother was abandoned with the litter. I hope you get the funds you need.
Yes a shelter, not a home in a residential neighborhood. My neighbor rescuses dogs and there needs to be a place for them other than her home. Good luck
