My daughter wants to be adopted by my husband, away from her abusive biological father.
We have paid too much to stop, and now the lawyer is demanding the balance plus some more for a guardian ad liam (???), and says we can't go any further until we get him the money. My daughter is 11 and is terrified of him, as am I, but only our lawyer seems to pay us any attention. This isn't just because situation, this is a must! She CAN'T go back there! PLEASE HELP!!!! We need alot right now, but this is as important as feeding these kids! I know there are some others out there reading this right now that can relate entirely too well, and I voted 5s for any of you who needed them!! You need to get a restraining order, this will keep him away from her until you go to court... The lawyer needs $1000 more and you are asking for $500 but the wish amount is for $100.. do you have the rest of the money saved? Or he he letting you do a contract? I have not seen that question in the comments so thought I would ask..

I hope your daughter gets to be where she wants to. Too often the voice of the children is silenced by the state in the quest to "do what is the best interest of the child" they don't even listen to the child so how can they say best interest??? I really sincerely hope that your daughter gets what she wants and knows how hard you are fighting for her :)

If your lawyer is telling you he needs money for a Guardian Ad Litem, you need a new lawyer. Guardian Ad Litems are volunteers appointed by the court to look out for the best interests of the child. I could be wrong- as it may be different in your state, but I dont imagine it is. Not doubting you, just I know how lawyers can be, and that dont sound right.
As the other poster suggested, you can and should ask for a emergency injunction , if there is proof of abuse they will remove her from the home to be with you until its sorted out. As for adopting her, her biological father will have to have his parental rights terminated first. This isnt easy to do. Naturally the courts want to be real sure the facts are in order, as its a serious thing to remove a fathers child from him to another man. But keep your chin up, it can be done and if hes abusing her, it needs to be done. I'd be asking for that emergency injunction ASAP

I voted 5 stars, but if you don't win PLEASE seek aid from a family crisis center in your county!!! They can provide assistance with legal aid, counseling, and even clothing needs to help your daughter escape her abusive father. I know it's scary going to one of those places and asking for help, and yes you may have to go on a waiting list to get ongoing therapy for your daughter, but believe me.... it's worth it! Places like that are there to help people like you and your daughter. Please please call and seek some help. I know you're probably scared of getting CPS involved, but the counselors there won't call CPS unless they are aware of a major threat to your daughter's safety and welfare ok? They're not there to criticize you, they're there to help. Hang in there and don't let the abusive bastard hold you back.

If there is abuse involved you should get DFACS (Department of Family and Child Services) involved. You could even try contacting CASA to appoint a guardian ad litem for your daughter. It might take longer, but shouldn't cost you a thing. Best of luck!

Have you contacted childrens services about the abuse,, I would imagine your child would need counceling after what has gone on... You can still get child support even though visits could be denied...loosing CP would be a drop in your income. You could get a restraining order and It would'nt cost anything. Then you could use the money to buy food and things for your family. Good luck

Honey I know how you feel. I have two children that my husband adopted from there biological father. All he did for them is abuse them. Now we have a loving family. My husband says he is now there father and they fell the same way about him. Godbless you.

I hope for the best with your daughter,i myself recently took custody of three of my sisters children,they had been verblly abused and physically abused ny her and her boyfriends,I myself had no money to get a lawyer and i had to do it all on my own,it was really hard,my sister has a total of six children but they would only let me have three,i did have them all first ages 16,14,12,8,2 and a brand new baby boy,which the 12 and 8 year old have severe adhd,iended up with the 16,14,12 year old it was very hard for me to see the other children go,my cousin adopted 2 year old anf 8 year old went to grandma,the baby got adopted by another family whom i choose,we all see each other including baby too,i just couldnt do it all my self,i am wishing you the best and i will keep you guys in my prayers,becky

Good Luck on your wish. One suggestion, councelling, maybe make your next wish for money for that, anybody who comes from an abusive family, should go to councelling. I can very much relate to your situation for my mom took my niece for the same reason. I really wish I could give you financial help, but my family is in a terrible financal situation right now. I hope my 5 stars helps you! I am not sure what state you are in, but you may want to try and file a temporary injunction so she does not have to go there. You can also request that your daughter speak with the court Psycologist. I hope this helps :)
