When we became homeless people started treating us like we were worthless.
Not all people and thank you to the ones that treated us as everyone should. The Sheriff's officers don't seem to want to help, they just tell you to leave. I asked one if he knew of some place for us to go and he told us that he didn't have that information with him, but he had a computer in his car. We were threatened by another. He told us that if we didn't leave he would impound our things and arrest us. He yelled at us and belittled us, it was horrible.
When we came to the shelter the pastor asked me my name and I told him Kelli and he said Helen and I said no Kelli, that went on about three times. I felt humiliated like he was doing it on purpose. He was very insensitive about us being upset about not being able to bring our homeless best friend Zeus (our dog).
Now their is a person that is nosy, pushy to the point that she is bulling us, and antagonizes me. I was upset today, she asked me if everything was ok, I told her I couldn't find something I was looking for and she immediately thought I was accusing her son of taking it, I told her that I wasn't implying that he took it, I knew it was just displaced, she started yelling at me so I told her to leave me alone but she just kept on and on. She followed me and kept yelling. I was not able to put a word in edgewise. She told me to go to my room like I was a child being punished. I couldn't help but tell her what I thought.
I am an easy person to get along with and I will go out of my way to make someone happy. But I guess I have TREAT ME BADLY written on my forehead. I've been treated like that all my life, even by my mom. I think I'm a good person and I just don't understand why I'm treated the way I am.

People can be catty and shallow, remember though, your heart is pure and life has it's diffculties. All is well because what we truly are cannot be harmed. . . . . . . . .. . . .

Dearest Kelli: I am so sorry people are treating you badly, especially in light of your homeless situation !!! It is totally NOT RIGHT !!! You should be treated with the same respect and worth of every human being on this planet !!! AND, I think more people NEED to become AWARE - that 'there but for the Grace of God go I' !!! It takes very little to change ones circumstance in the current socio-economic times we live in !!!
AND ~ particularly for the injured worker; the one caught up in the W/C System; those who have been laid off for an undetermined period of time; or those who 'cannot' find work in their surrounding communities; those on SSI or even SSDI [some didn't have enough paid into the system]; the elderly, that were unable to adequately plan for their retirement; subsisting on a small stipend and their SS ck !!!
This is something we ALL NEED TO STAND UP AND TAKE NOTICE OF !!! PLEASE ~ - BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE - Before it's YOU, or a loved one !!! STOP; THINK; ACT FOR CHANGE !!!
We ALL need to RESPECT one another no matter what the situation is - until you've walked a mile in their shoes . . . PLEASE, care, and reach out to help !!!
I know, 'I' am in the desperate fixed SSI situation !!! I just don't know what I am going to do !!!
I will most certainly keep y'all in my thoughts and prayers !!! And continually hope for the best that people will ALWAYS act with common courtesy and decency toward one another !!!
And also, that they gt together, and force 'THE SYSTEM' to CHANGE - so we are not left falling through the cracks; left behind in the dark; left twisting in the wind !!!

I wish that true.We need to love each other and help each other that god wants his children do.
-i was homeless over ten years ago with 3 children and no cared ,nor did the law till it came time to to take my oldest away stay strong walk proud and never foreget when when you rise above this trying time . GOD BLESS you have my 5
I know I was homeless for 3 months on the streets of Seattle. Thank God we had a church that let us park our van in their parking lot and the cops left us alone. My prayers are with you and your dog hopefully you will find a solution soon :) Remember the law of attraction. If you think positive, positive things will come to you.

Your got my 5 votes. Sorry you have had to go through all of this. No one should have to go through this type of problems when they are homeless. They should be given all the help possible so that they can get back on their feet, find a job if needed and get back into a place with a roof over their heads. I guess some of these people just need to be homeless themselves to see what it is like and what you are going through.

Can't say i've been homeless before but my mom works for a homeless shelter and people can be cruel. Hold your head of high and keep telling yourself that its only temporary.
