I remember sodas being 35 cents, and just 10 cents for a call from a pay phone. I remember getting school lunches for 10 cents, and a $2 allowance and thinking we were rich...LOL
Candy bars were 10 cents, and you could get a coloring book and crayons for about $1. And I"m talking the big box of crayons.

REBEL, they were packet drinks you add sugar to, like Koolaid, I think before they had Koolaid, or was just a cheaper brand. We bought them at TAX store in 1964

Ok so I'm still pretty young but there are a few things that stand out.
Filling the gas tank for under $10.
Getting locked outside to play until dark and drinking from the garden hose.
Anyone remember the tv show In the year 2000? I think that is what it was called. It showed inventions that were supposed to be common household items by the year 2000.We were all supposed to have flying cars and robot servants.
Captian Kangaroo.
Bozoo the clown.
Cell phones that could double as a brick.
TV sets with dials.
No remote control anything.
Bandaids came in one color.
No instant hand sanitizer.
5 second rule applied everywhere, even outside.
All barbies were white and she married the big GI Joe Doll (ok "action figure").
Before fat free, sugar free, carb free (taste free) ice cream.
The Grapefruit diet.
When salad was a side dish.
Merry go rounds on cement playgrounds.
Kids all had art, music, and recess at school.
I'm sure I will think of some more.

Last year my daughter made the comment to my granddaughters that she and her brother were our remote control. If we wanted the channel changed on the tv we told them to go change it :)

I started babysitting when I was about 10 or 11. I used to be told by my parent you are babysitting for so and so. I didn't realise you could get paid for it until I was about 14. Then it was a dollar an hour or they would trade babysitting for something else like some fruit from their apple tree or my favorite was one woman sold make up so she would trade credits for makeup for me babysitting. :)
