I think she said she can't get anything like that cuz she's coming in mid year. Most scholarships and stuff are awarded before the school year even begins, I think.

i dont get it. why cant she pull him on medical and get him in the private school next year? here in louisiana (and i know this for fact...my brother did this for 8 months) if it is a medical issue you can get the dr to fill out a form for the school board and usually there is a hearing.....after it is said and done the school board has to provide an at home teacher/tutor for the length of time determined. that or home school for the next 2 months and get him in in the fall.

There is nothing that prevents him from going to school. The problem is the shcool. I will have to check with his dr. about that but I am not sure how that would work. I know they would have to have a reason. Most kids with Aspergers go to school and kids with OI in the class he has go to school. The dr. did pull him when he was having the bowl problems though. I will have to check it out.

Thanks for this everyone the support means so much to me. You have to understand my greatest fear for him is his safety which I will figure out what to do I just don't know the answer. I know everyone thinks homeschool is the answer but I am not sure that is the right one for us. I am scared to do that. I'm not sure I can teach him and I'm not sure he would learn from me, I think he would walk all over me.

I got a message from a wish ambassador at WUAH and they wanted the information for the school. I am hoping this is a good thing. I am praying its a good thing.

Thanks Leo I am praying they will. I know that if I look to God I will have my prayers answered. That is what I am doing praying and asking God for the answers that and trying to pawn everything I own. LOL

Can you at least get them to make an accomodation for him to leave his classes 5 minutes early so he doesn't experience all the pushing on the stairs?

May you should just take him outta school and not homeschool. Just do it with the reasoning that they cannot or will not provide him with an appropriate education. I think that forces a hearing where they have to prove they can.

also, you might wanna contact your nearest mental health clinic. They may have an idea on what resources you can tap into as far as finding an advocate or a disabilities attorney.

If I can get him into the new school it won't be an issue. I will get him into there next year. I am just hoping I can move him this year.
I have talked to advocates and they were the ones that told me only one child was released from the city school system in the last 2 years and that was due to the fact that he was on some kind of breathing thing a treak (SP) in the neck. They just don't realease the kids these people are nuts.

I had him pulled from school and they reported me and gave me two days to have him in or I would have to go to a hearing and possibly be fined and arrested. I was shocked but you have to have them in school. I have honestly tried everything I can. My last chance is to get him into private school if not this year than I will next year. I just don't think I can do the whole home school there is no way I could get him to listen to me and actually learn something. Maybe I am just a big chicken but I just can't even contemplate the idea of home schooling him unless I have no other choice.

ok so pull him and start the process and tell them you are going to home school him. then they cant do anything because the home school process is started. just say you are going to homeschool him since they wont help you....you will do it better...start the process .....they cant fine you if you are home schooling...school is out in 2 months.....use those 2 months as a review for what he has already learned.

Won't that cost a bunch of money to get started? I remember when Dawn did the homeschool thing it cost her for the books and tools she needed. I am going to have to call and check into that. I know I seem hard headed but the truth is I think he needs the social atmosphere that school gives him. If I have to I will put him in the private school next year but I have already been threaten for not having him in school then pulling him and putting him back in I could be taking a chance that he will fail. I don't want him to fail. I have to check into all of this before I just yank him out of school.

If you are still expecting your tax refund you can go to irs.gov and click on where is my refund and they will tell you when you will get it.

I am not expecting my refund. We used that to help move and to get my car fixed, the windows wouldn't go down so we had to replace the motors. I wish I still had that. I tried to get my 401k but they won't release it to me until I am terminated in my companies system which will be April 1 and then it will take 30 days to get it to me. I was really hoping that would work. I actually just got off the phone with them they have strict reasons for which they will let you take your money. I don't meet those requirements. They do let you if its for college though. They also let you if your house if in forclosure.

can you take a loan against it? they cant keep you from it reguardless.

what i am saying is just start the homeschool process. file that with the school board and whether or not you actually 'school" him at home is up to you. it is just buying you some time.

I don't know, I don't think I can get a loan we are pretty much up to our eyeballs right now. But the buying time part sounds like an idea it will depend if it would cause him to fail or not though I can't have that.
