    Funny Story...

Phones have not always had a letter Q, and some still don't...

the local hospital here has a program they do you go and they supply you with patches or whatever they have i think it is like a 6 week session and you go once a week for 1 or 2 hours... but it is free of charge...

for those who couldnt get free patches call your local hospital to find out if they have it...

i also wanted to bump this up for those who wanted more specific answers

I called and had to give them my name, address, phone number, email address and information along those lines. After the lady took my information she transferred me to the Quit Coach. I spent about 15 minutes on the phone with the Quit Coach and he helped me think of the situations that will be hard to not smoke such as around friends who are smokers. He also helped me set a date to quit and some things that I can do in addition to the patches. He is sending me eight weeks worth of patches FREE with NO shipping!! He will also be calling me to check on my progress. He offered me free classes and support groups in my area but I chose the online forum as that is what I am most comfortable with and right now I don't have the time to go to any classes etc. You can also call the Quit Coaches at any time if you need extra help.

But, everything is absolutely free for me. It is dependent on your state and what your state offers as far as stop smoking assistance. My state raised the taxes on cigarettes a couple of years ago and so I believe that some of that revenue is being used to help smokers in my state to quit. I also agree that it is also funded by the lawsuit settlements with the big cigarette companies.

So, you have to give a little bit of personal information and then hope that your state provides a good support system for smokers. It is well worth the phone call and the 20 minutes or so that I spent on the phone. I pray that the patches are available to everyone as I know how important this is for all of us smokers that need to quit. Good luck to everyone!! Maybe we could even start a thread here on RHF where we can support each other in our stop smoking journey!!

I called Yesterday, They gave me some good suggestions on how to start cutting back.
And working toward a Quit date.
At this time they said the patches will not work well for me Because I smoke too much.
But after I cut back they will help with the patches.
From what I gathered the patches are geared for a person that smokes a pack to a pack and a half a day.
They also suggested nicotine inhalers, and talking to DR about welbutring and other meds that will help.
My insurance company wont cover stop smoking aids, And apparently the get some help from
Certain insurance companies and the state. They asked me to call and ask my insurance company Why they wont cover them.
They said the more complaints the insurance company gets the better. And Maybe they will start helping with stop smoking programs.
Any one want to complain to Anthem ??
So today I start my Baggie plan. Smokes go into a baggie and I add 1 or 2 less per day to start with every day until I cut down.
Its worth the call. And It is free.

I currently have clear lungs after smoking for 17 years, I would like to stop while I have a chance. I tool care of a friend of mine that died from lung cancer, it was horrible but not enough to make me stop at that time. I will take any help I can get. Then I need to work on no-smoking in my home. I had my house exterminated and the poison ran down my walls leaving white streaks revealing all the nicotine that had built up on my walls. They were actually yellow!! EWWWW

We got them the Monday before Thanksgiving, we first set a quit date of Thanksgiving but we were out of money so we just chose to start using them then.

Exactly 3 weeks later we have begun having problems with them. My husband has huge rashes on his arms where they have been stuck. Mine fall off half way through the day because I perspire alot. I accidently forgot to put one on this morning before class. I came home with a huge urge to smoke and there happen to be 5.00 on the desk and I had a really good (good at the time) excuses to buy some. Really Really bad financial problems, marital fights, and stress from finals. Yikes, I can't quit at this time. My husband turns into a monster on steroids, lol when he fails to put one on. But you should see the rash on his arms. We need another solution. I think we are going to try again in February when taxes get here. I think we may try the nicitrol inhailer. We've tried the gum and losenges (they cause heart burn for both of us and leave a almost numb feeling in your mouth)

When I was using the patches, they told me to move them around, everyday in a different place, to prevent rashes. I personaly never had a problem with them. What strength are you using?
