This wish is for my mother, not myself.
She is an elderly woman on a very fixed income living in an efficiency apartment.
She lives with her one constant friend and companion, Spook.
Spook is a 17 year old all black male cat (85 in human years).
My mother's one and only wish in her declining years of life is this:
That she be able to cremate her friend.
When her time to go home comes probably not that far away, it is her one, only, last and final wish to be cremated and both her and her friend's ashes to be released together. So that they may go through all eternity together both in body and spirit. For that to happen, she needs to have her cat's ashes.
My mother asked me to post this wish for her. Being that this is her ONLY wish, I will be posting it each and every week. Thank you for looking. God bless.

Take My 'Lil Bro Shopping,
I have 4 younger brothers (and 1 older). One of my younger ones has a rare, life-threatening illness. This fact has followed him around like a stigma since he started school. In the past, he has handled it well, but as he gets older, kids teasing him about his weight, and making snide remarks like "stay away from him, he has a disease" really hurts him and causes him to have many self esteem and depression problems. He is going to start high school this year, and I want him to start it out feeling like he fits in. Although there are 6 of us boys, our sizes and styles are way to different to pass down clothing. I want to be able to get him some that he has shown intrest in. I want him to know that regardless of what anyone else says, he is a beautiful person, and I love him. He deserves some happiness and to feel like any other "normal" child. No, name brand clothing is not a need. But self esteem and a feeling of belonging to a kid who doesn't know what "normal" is, is very much needed. No, clothes are not going to make my brother well, nothing is.

I "wished" this for him because he is my hero. We lost our father to homocide, he was 1, he was diagnosed with a horrible illness at age 4, after being very ill all his life. He has endured so much poking and prodding by doctors, he misses at least 37 days of school per year, he can't do all the normal things other kids his age can, (sometimes we let him, and he gets sick), he doesn't have friends because he can't tell if they like him for him, or they just feel sorry for him, he injects 5 cc's of a concentrated medicine into himself daily (concentrated form so he could do 2 shots instead of 4), bone marrow aspirations to check for pre-leukemic cells, and He knows he could die, all this, and he never complains. He hides his depression, and his fear. He worries about everyone else. He says he looks up to me, well, I look up to him. He is far stronger and braver than I will ever be. My mom did plan for school, and then my stepdad had surgery and will be off work 6-8 weeks, now she has to concentrate on bills and school supplies. Please help me give my "hero" a "normal"experience. Thank you!

I was over at their place about a week or so ago. They have been telling me that their hot water tank was leaking and it was starting to get into Nona's bedroom.

When I came over, they asked me if I could use the Wet-Vac (sp) to clean the wet carpet. I said I would do it. So I put the machine together and went into Nona's bedroom.

I started moving the furniture that was against the affected wall and the minute I moved one of Nona's dressers, I went, "oh no!"

There was a clear sign of toxic molds growing so I informed my mother that and would she please help me move the big dresser? She came over and helped me move that dresser. It was by that time that my mother saw just how much damages that the hot water tank had caused.

They called the insurance company and the company sent someone over. But on that day, they got really bad news. The water damage was very high to the point that the affected areas must be yanked out, including the toilet and the wall.

They are trying everything they can to take care of this. But at the same time, Nona does not have her own bed any more. Someone came over and removed everything from her bedroom. Now Nona has to share the bed with Mom, which luckily is a double bed.

But the effects of all this is already starting to show on Nona. I am very, very worried about Nona and right now, from what I have heard, they cannot afford enough groceries to last them that long. I did ask them many times if they would like me to stop by the nearby grocery store and bring them some food. Every time I asked them that, they said no. They kept saying that I should use my money to pay my bills and groceries.

But they are the most important people in my life and it worries me so much to see this happening. They do not deserve this, and yet it's happening.

So I am pleading with all of you to at least let me give something to both of them that they can use. I can't use the food bank because food from that place isn't always good. What I mean by "good" is that sometimes the food would be too old to be eaten safely. Any donation would be greatly appreciated. My PayPal e-mail address is kalayak@telus.net

Too many children are affected and there is really not a lot being done to help. Here are the facts:
Congenital heart defects are America's #1 birth defect. Nearly one of every 100 babies is born with a CHD.

Congenital heart defects are the #1 cause of birth defect related deaths.

This year almost 40,000 babies will be born with a congenital heart defect. 4,000 of them will not live to see their first birthday.


91,000 life years are lost each year in this country due to congenital heart defects.


The cost for inpatient surgery to repair congenital heart defects exceeds $2.2 billion a year.

Congenital heart defects occur frequently and are often life threatening, yet research into them is grossly under funded.

Only one penny of every dollar donated to the American Heart Association goes towards congenital heart defect research.

Of every dollar the government spends on medical funding only a fraction of a penny is directed toward congenital heart defect research.

The Children's Heart Foundation is the only organization strictly created to fund congenital heart defect research.

In the last decade death rates for congenital heart defects have declined by almost 30% due to advances made through research.

The Children's Heart Foundation has directed almost $2 million to 24 different congenital heart defect research projects.

More than 50% of all children born with a congenital heart defect will require at least one invasive surgery in their lifetime.

There are 35 different types of congenital heart defects. Little is known about the cause of most them. There is not yet a cure for any of them.

In the U.S., twice as many children die from congenital heart defects each year than from all forms of childhood cancer combined, yet funding for pediatric cancer research is five times higher than funding for CHD.

Zacky and his brother are living with my brother intill I get on my feet. My nephew Michael is a non verbal 4 year old who has autism. His doctor suggested that he get invovled in occupational thearapy to help him.
