For the past 3 years, I have served as a Civilian Instructor with the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets. The aims of our program include promoting citizenship and leadership, physical fitness, and maritime affairs. One of the most successful ways I've found of developing interest in the fields of our training has been through membership in the Seamanship Quiz Team.
Much like Reach for the Top, or Quiz Bowl, Seamanship Quiz involves teams facing off in an epic battle of knowledge. The mind must be sharp, the nerves strong, and reflexes quick. A matter of milliseconds can decide victory, or defeat in a tournament. For this, cadets train for months in advance.
For all my time as a CI, I have coached one of the finest teams in all of Northern Ontario. In their knowledge, they are unparalleled, and with time, they have mastered their nerves in order to face off against even the most challenging opponents. However, their reflexes have caused them to miss crucial points to the other team for 3 years running now.
A buzzer system, such as the one here: [ link ] would allow them to hone their skills, and possibly give them the edge to achieve victory. But what is more, it would enable me to expand the program, by running a local competition, open to all of our cadets, rather than only the elite few who make the 4 person team. I firmly believe that this is one of the best ways of fulfilling our mandate, and therefore molding our young people into good citizens, who are proud to call themselves Canadian.

My Friend Erin to have a Fluffernutter Sandwich!

I could eat a fluffernutter sandwich everyday and my heart breaks for those that have yet to have the opportunity to indulge in such a delicious experience. I told her to go get some next time she goes shopping, but I looked and Oregon does not sell Fluff :(. I can order her some though on the Fluff web site, yay!!!

*UPDATE- Erin tried to make one with the Kraft brand and it isn't the same, she needs to taste a real one.
