I have been having trouble sleeping lately, and part of the reason is that my blankets are not heavy enough.

When I was a kid I had a heavy quilt from my grandmother and I remember how it felt to have that dropped over me and pressing down on me while I slept. Since then, there have been a few times that I have had the chance to sleep places where I have had access to a really heavy blanket or blankets and those nights I have slept very well.

I mentioned this once to my son's occupational therapist and she told me that this is not surprising as many autistic people need the pressure from heavy blankets in order to sleep. In fact, she will often prescribe weighted blankets to autistic people who have sleep issues. These weighted blankets are usually quite expensive (in the range of $220 or more for a queen sized one) [ link ]

I recently finished making and shipping out a queen sized knit blanket to a friend of mine. It's finished weight was just under 12 lbs. This is less than a prescription weighted blanket would be but it was heavy enough that working on it and having it sit in my lap while I finished it was very very relaxing. I think that if I were able to make myself one, it would help me be able to sleep much better. (photo is not the blanket that I made, I did not take a picture of that one)

This $100 would cover more than half of the costs of making a blanket like the one I made for my friend, for myself, as long as I found a great deal on yarn like I did the last time. I am looking forward to finally being able to get a good night's sleep. (more)

I'll say this is greedy, because I don't really need it. BUT, with this, I can buy the supplies to make things to sell which will help me support my family.

My husband and I recently seperated after 24 years of marriage. We were arguing most of the time so we thought it was best to just take a break than to be at each others throat.

Anyway, I'm trying to find a job that I can do at home until I can get my son back into school.
That's another story in its self. If I can get the supplies, I can make dolls, pot holders, blankets, eye glass cases..just about anything, to sell and make a profit.

I can do this at home for the time being. And, its fun!

I already have a Mr. Coffee, but it's the very basic model. It percolates, and that's about it. I really, really want a coffee maker with a timer. That way I could set everything up at night and have it start up about 15 minutes before our alarm goes off in the morning. My husband gets up at 5:00 a.m for work and we wander into walls until the coffee is ready. If I could have our coffee made by the time we wake up, things would go so much smoother in the mornings. I have been on Robinhood Fund for awhile and have had many wonderful connections. I try and do alot to help others, like almost everyone out there in this community. Today I come with a very personal requeat. I was recently abused (MOM) and have spent 6 months homeless. I had to leave my house, land and belongings for my personal and emotional safety. I was staying at a friends house and helping a friend go to the Dr. My vehicle broke down and I am stranded. I have to move from where my stuff is and I had been staying because harsh words were said to me because I am not able to afford to live there anymore. I stayed at two battered women's shelters and then I was hospitalized and released to the streets because I could not afford the medical testing to find out the damage they say my pain meds did to my liver. I also stayed at a mission. I am living on a friends couch. What I am needing is prayers and possitive energies to be sent my way... I am very fortunate that I still have my 21 years of sobriety even after this horrific past 6 months. I am trying to find a trailer to live on as my friends will let me live in their yard. My belongings need to be picked up because I can no longer afford the 200.00 rent, which ended up being way more because everytime I turned around they wanted more money. I put my vehicle title up for now I owe 1,000.00. I am finding my self hopeless and holidays are already difficult for me. I realize there are alot more people out there more sesperately iin need than me, but right now I feel I need some encouragement and hope. So Icome to all of you today. I am a seven year survivor of what was told to be untreatable breast cancer I am a survivor of lifelong abuse. A corn burning furnace to heat my home

Well now that Christmas is OVER...I thought I would try and get some help on this corn burner.

Let me be HER hero!!!

As some of you know, I'm leaving for boot camp in March, then doing an
18 month tour in Iraq. While I'm gone, I know I'll be missed by alot of
wonderful people here at GoN, and most of all my mother and family.
But, there's something I want to give to that special someone. While i'm
in boot camp and overseas, I want her to remember that she is loved by
not only an American soldier, but most of all...me. I want her to know
that wherever I may end up, I'll always be close to her heart. So, I'm
wanting to give her a pair of DOG TAGS with all my info on them, just
like the ones I will be wearing while in the military. I want her to
know that I'm coming home not only to my family, but to her, also. And
maybe these will provide some comfort while I'm away, and provide a sense
of security. Somthing like a promise ring, a promise that i'll come
home and hold her in my arms once more and never leave her again, unless
my country calls upon me.

My need is the gas money to get to the hospital two hours away to have a life-saving surgery so I will be able to fully hug my kids again. Here is my story: I am married with two young children. We have had a lot of things go on in our family the last few years. In 2005, We lost four people within 7 mths, my mom in April, my great aunt in July, my son, 19, in August, and my grandmother in November. Also during that time we almost lost our daughter in surgery in June and I had heart surgery in Oct. Then in Sept. 2006 we were in a horrible boating accident and I became paralyzed on the left side of my body from my rib line down. I can't move my left leg and arm. It is really hard not being able to fully hug and hold my kids. At the time of the boating accident I had no health insurance so all of my medical costs came and still is coming out of our pocket. Because of that we lost both of our businesses due to not having enough money to run them. All of our money has gone into taking care of all my medical needs which has added up to $134,956.03 so far and there is still many many needs. One of my many wishes is to provide for our kids and to be there for them. Things have been really tough and we are struggling so much to pay for everything. We are just hoping not to lose everything while I am trying to live just a little longer for my kids. I just wish I can hug my kids again. Please help us in any way you can.
