I came here with a WISH. Many of my friends came here to support me. They also WISH for me to once again be stable. Many of the very active members here have been very kind. I appreciate the kindness and caring. Some have been quite the opposite. But that's on you.
I am BLESSED with the greatest true freinds anyone could ever wish for! Monitarily I not blessed at all at this time. It took a huge amount of money to get a new place to live.
TODAY WE ARE MOVING. If nothing else, please pray for our safety. I honestly do not even know if I'm going to have enough to cover the gas in the moving truck. When we get there, there are still needs to get us back on our feet.

I have been on Robinhood Fund for awhile and have had many wonderful connections. I try and do alot to help others, like almost everyone out there in this community. Today I come with a very personal requeat. I was recently abused (MOM) and have spent 6 months homeless. I had to leave my house, land and belongings for my personal and emotional safety. I was staying at a friends house and helping a friend go to the Dr. My vehicle broke down and I am stranded. I have to move from where my stuff is and I had been staying because harsh words were said to me because I am not able to afford to live there anymore. I stayed at two battered women's shelters and then I was hospitalized and released to the streets because I could not afford the medical testing to find out the damage they say my pain meds did to my liver. I also stayed at a mission. I am living on a friends couch. What I am needing is prayers and possitive energies to be sent my way... I am very fortunate that I still have my 21 years of sobriety even after this horrific past 6 months. I am trying to find a trailer to live on as my friends will let me live in their yard. My belongings need to be picked up because I can no longer afford the 200.00 rent, which ended up being way more because everytime I turned around they wanted more money. I put my vehicle title up for now I owe 1,000.00. I am finding my self hopeless and holidays are already difficult for me. I realize there are alot more people out there more sesperately iin need than me, but right now I feel I need some encouragement and hope. So Icome to all of you today. I am a seven year survivor of what was told to be untreatable breast cancer I am a survivor of lifelong abuse. Altho' I ussually focus on helping others, (I have a website dedicated to survivors helping victims and survivors of abuse) I am feeling that today I need to ask for help for myself! My babysitters son......

He is 10 years old about to turn eleven on the 14th. He had no Christmas and wont have a birthday either. He has some issues so he doesnt have friends because he is not considered the "NORM" in our area. He has had it rough this past year. He lived with his grandmother for two years, and this past September she ended up in the hospital with E.Coli poisoning, two days after being released she called 911 for cheast pains. She had to have emergency bypass surgery. My babysitter lives with me so she got back custody of him and he has lived here ever since. It has been a very hard adjustment for all of us. He has Bi Polar and can be very cruel, but he doesnt mean it and once his medicine kicks in he is great. He doesnt get along with my kids because he is a little girly, he wants to be a hairdresser when he is older and he is very good at it. He loves Hannah Montanna and I would love to suprise him with a gift for his birthday because his mom already told him he wasnt getting any due to the fact that they are looking for a place of their own because it is too crowded in my house. I really feel for this child because socially he is outcasted for being "different" and secondly becasue he had to deal with so much this past year. Can anyone help me make this child happy? (more)

A crib matress for my granddaughter

I guess I'll still leave this one as needy. Alot of you know about the mattress and the circumstance around it, but I'll start fresh. This is my second try at trying to help my daughter get a much needed mattress for her daughter who is 9 months old, and is sleeping in a playpen. I got Sammie, my 21 month old granddaughter a toddler bed for Christmas, but neither I or my daughter could afford a new mattress for Livvy. So that she could have Sammie's crib to sleep in. I'm on disability and don't get much at all a month. 535.00 is what I get. I could only help so much. My daughter has been looking for work for months now, with no luck. She doesn't see a dime in child support from the father, who dosen't stay in one place for long. He likes to move around. Maybe because he's afraid of getting caught for being in arrears of nearly $1,000.00 or what. He can't hold a job to save his life. So my daughter is doing all this alone. By the time she's done paying her rent, buying food, (yes, she gets help from welfare) which isn't enough at times, and diapers for the both of them, she is literately tapped out. She could also use a couch, but that's a different subject. She has tried Catholic Social Services, and a few other agencies with no luck. I just hate seeing my little granddaughter sleeping in that playpen. She deserves better than that. I priced mattresses, and the cheapest I found was about $50.00. If she could win the 35 dollars, I MAY be able to scrape up the rest. It's not alot that I'm asking for, compared to alot of others, that want thousands of dollars. Donations for my soon-to-be non-profit 'The Empty Hanger'

My initiative called ''The Empty Hanger" sends packages of clothing and accessories to families in need on a regular basis. sis. I began by cleaning out my own closet, and then the closets of my two girls--things we didn't wear anymore. I wanted to do something truly unique that would benefit others.

Because I am also disabled, I know how hard it is for people with financial or physical barriers to get to clothing drives, etc. I feel that my 'niche' is that I am reaching people that otherwise would be shut out.

I inspect the clothes for stains, rips, and broken zippers and buttons. Those things are thrown out. Everything is washed and comes from a non smoking home. I began taking donations via my Verified PayPal account to cover shipping charges, and I started getting offers for donations.

I have helped a single mom and her two girls in Pennsylvania, a single mom and her three boys in Michigan, and a single mom locally. I am currently looking for more people to help.

On top of the package contents I place an empty hanger with a notecard attached that reads:

"Here's an empty hanger from my home to you.
Every time you use it, remember that this is true
The kindness of a stranger has touched you on this day
Be thankful what little you have in each and every way
As you use this hanger, consider yourself so blessed
And hang upon it your favorite outfit or perhaps a special dress
Then every time you see it, you'l remember all the year through.
That this hanger is no longer empty
Instead it is holding something special entirely meant just for you!"

I will be filing as a non-profit in 2008, as I really want to turn this into an organized operation. I currently receive donations through the mail and locally that consist of clothing, purses, accessories, jewelry, and bath and body items. 100% of the financial donations received pay for shipping costs. I am hoping too, to find more ways to get funding.

For the month of December I have received $40 in donations. That will allow me to send 3-4 packages in January. $1 or $2 here and there does add up over time.
I estimate that $100 can allow me to send 8 12x12 packages

Martin Lawing, a native of McDowell County, is still in critical condition and in the Intensive Care Unit, said Sheriff John McDevitt.

Lawing, the son of John and Jane Lawing of Marion, graduated from McDowell High School in 1994 and completed his basic law enforcement training at McDowell Technical Community College. He has been employed with the Burke County Sheriff?s Office for five years.

A press release from Burke County Sheriff?s Detective Austin Hensley said, due to Lawing?s ever-changing condition, his wife, Leslie, temporarily left her job as a nurse at The McDowell Hospital. The couple has a 2-year-old daughter.

Lawing, a member of the SWAT team, was shot in the neck while trying to make contact with a woman who shut herself in her home for 13 hours. Sheriff?s deputies were trying to serve the woman, Eva Joyce Nelson, 60, with involuntary commitment papers.

The Morganton-Burke Fraternal Order of Police have started a fund to help Lawing?s family get through this time and pay for expenses.
