I have been having trouble sleeping lately, and part of the reason is that my blankets are not heavy enough.

When I was a kid I had a heavy quilt from my grandmother and I remember how it felt to have that dropped over me and pressing down on me while I slept. Since then, there have been a few times that I have had the chance to sleep places where I have had access to a really heavy blanket or blankets and those nights I have slept very well.

I mentioned this once to my son's occupational therapist and she told me that this is not surprising as many autistic people need the pressure from heavy blankets in order to sleep. In fact, she will often prescribe weighted blankets to autistic people who have sleep issues. These weighted blankets are usually quite expensive (in the range of $220 or more for a queen sized one) [ link ]

I recently finished making and shipping out a queen sized knit blanket to a friend of mine. It's finished weight was just under 12 lbs. This is less than a prescription weighted blanket would be but it was heavy enough that working on it and having it sit in my lap while I finished it was very very relaxing. I think that if I were able to make myself one, it would help me be able to sleep much better. (photo is not the blanket that I made, I did not take a picture of that one)

This $100 would cover more than half of the costs of making a blanket like the one I made for my friend, for myself, as long as I found a great deal on yarn like I did the last time. I am looking forward to finally being able to get a good night's sleep. (more)

I'm still struggling to get back on my feet after being off work for 2.5 yrs following a serious car accident. I'm back to work part-time and need a cell phone for my job. I have the cheapest plan I could find, which is Net-10, at 10c a minute. I am very conservative with my minutes, but just can't afford to buy a top-up card, which costs $60. I need this phone to communicate with the agency I contract with, as well as with my clients and their CPS caseworkers. This is a one-time need. My hours at work should be increasing soon. I recently got both Cervical and Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections, and I am hoping they enable me to be a little more productive. My daughter and I made a decision this week to let her quit school they have been failing her for the last two semesters even though she is supposed to have an IEP which I was left out of this time. I give up she is 17 and soon to be 18 she would quit anyway. After us spending time at the hospital with my grandbaby and her missing school her teacher told her she was gonna fail even if she made up the work because that time is not excused. Well I am sorry but when a child is in ICU the whole family is involved. Did they want me to leave her with her brother who is 20 and they fight constantly.

My wish is for this CD to help her get the GED or the online version both costs the same. We dont have to have this because we can have free classes here. I just feel she would have a better time on the computer. She enjoys learning on the computer. She learns better on her own than in classes anyway.

Please vote for my daughter to get this to go on with her life. She was already held back last year and then again. I know i dont want to be 18 and a freshmen. She is really smart they just dont challenge her enough. She missed school last semester due to illnesses and she had excused absenses and she still failed.

Memorial Garden In Honor Of J.R.'s Son Jack

I am going to help with this wish this round. Try to anyway. This woman has been trying to get this for her son for a while now. How would you feel if you can't go see nor talk to your beloved deceased because they are too far away? I would feel hurt and so does this lovely woman. Truth be it my father passed when i was 15 never got to say goodbye, never got to see him after, no funeral no nothing. my mom had him cremated and his ashes were thrown into the ocen that he faught in WWII. On 1-22-2006 I lost my 25 year old son jack to a killing. he just got involved with the wrong girl and she had him killed for his money.That year was the toughest thing I've ever experienced in my life and still can't cope with having him gone. my heart is broken there's many tears everyday for my son. I would like to build a memorial garden in honor of my son jack . His burial site is in GA and i'm in oregon so i can't get to his burial site any time i want to and it's killing me inside. So i think that having a memorial garden here in oregon would help me to cope with his death a little better because that would give me a garden to go to and set and talk to my son and tell him all about the son he never new. And just to feel close to my son.
I know that there are many, many deserving stories to choose from i only ask that you consider mine.

Reason is, soon I will be moving and need these to start packing stuff in. I would rather these as they seal. boxes don't seal good and I won't be able to keep the critters here that the landlord failed to mention. yuck I hate all kinds of bugs and spider. 3 boxes of food from Angel food network to give to shut ins

There is a program in our town called angel food network. And for $30 you get enough food for a family of 4. I would like to get 3 boxes and break them up into many little packs and make baskets of for some elderly shut ins. I can feed a lot more then 4 (per box) if I break them up into smaller packs. We live in a rather small town and we also live about 25 miles from the closest store for them to shop at. They all live on fixed incomes and most of them can not afford food after all the bills are paid. I try to give them what little I have left but there is not enough to go around. Most of them have no family around here to help them. My kids and I go visit as much as we can and try to help where we can. But I would love to give them a break from the worry of what they are going to eat and where they are going to get it from. Thanks for taking the time to look at this. (more)

A roof over her head

Leaking light fixtures, mystery spots on the wall.
This dear friend of mine has seen it all.
She patches it up and then comes the rain
it's getting to be a really big pain.

Yup, my pal Carol ( Dolphinlady) is in serious need of some home repair work.
She just painted her living room and with the rains that came
the water started pouring in through a light fixture in the ceiling.
She went up and patched but the leak remains and now the water
the falls in the bucket on her couch, looks like blood.
I checked and there are no bodies on the roof so it must be rust.
A check by another friend revealed some rotten wood in the roof
under the shingles that Carol put on herself just last year. It won't be cheap to fix.
She also is needing flooring as her living room is uninsulated subfloor right now ( her tootsies get cold). Winning $100 would be a big help in getting roof fixed
or at least helping her buy some new buckets and an umbrella.

Note: the video is NOT Carol's house but might as well be.

This is my problem.. I have a spouse who is an alcoholic.. I just cannot deal with it anymore. i have been in this relationship for 4 years now.. and the last two is nothing but arguing. He is not violent or physical, but denies he has a problem. We do not even sleep in the same bed anymore.. I have found alcohol bottles in dresser drawers as I put laundry away, etc.. I am about to move to a new place, and I am really considering telling him he cannot come with me and the kids.. What i need is some Alanon material, books, etc.. I have the AA ones.. but i think Alanon would be better.... He makes me feel guilty, like I have caused all of his problems. Which is not the case.. I need strength and courage, and for my friends to talk to me... (all of you) and help me to stay strong, put my foot down, and end this craziness. I know that letting him stay with me is not helping him or me any longer and I am just tired... Living with an alcoholic is very unpredictable and you never know how the day or night will go.... I know I do not know you guys for real on this site.. but i am tired of holding it all in...... no.. my life is not perfect.. I dont believe none of ours is.. we just all deal with different challenges in life... if anyone has material, books, uplifting devotionals etc.. they could send me to help me.. that is basically my wish here. Also I need to know in my heart of hearts that i have no reason to feel guilty or bad.. that his disease is not my fault... and that I cannot help him.. he has to WANT to help himself.. I know all of this in my mind.. but in my heart this is very difficult....

Extra Pampers and Wipes for my infant son

I am a single parent to a 6 month old son. I am currently unemployed due to lack of transportation but I am currently on the hunt for a job. In the past 2 months everything has been going wrong.
