THE MULTI'S TO STOP!!!

THE MULTI'S TO STOP!!!

Week after week multi's are controlling the winner's and it is getting out of hand. Everyone here places wishes in hopes that one day they might win. I am sorry, but that will never happen unless you are friends with them or unless we stop this. Instead of saying "there is nothing we can do", ask, "What can we do". I think everyone needs to start paying more attention to the names I will list here and see if you notice any pattern. There may even be more than what is listed here!!!

This is my first wish. I am blessed and do not need anything for myself. But, I would like to ask my new friends here at GoN, if they would consider committing to click at The Hunger Site, [ link ] as often as possible while this wish is active.

The Hunger Site is a service which donates free food to people in need, all over the world.

While there, please consider clicking for Breast Cancer, Child Health, Literacy, Rainforest, and Animal Rescue. It doesn't cost a thing, and it does make a difference!

Thank you for your time, your compassion, and your friendship! I cherish it!!

Many foster children are supplied with garbage bags, for transporting their personal belongings to and from foster homes. Social workers do this just to make the job quicker and easier... but what kind of a message does this send to a child? Does it not say, "your belongings are not worth much"?

Might a child also suffer feelings of personal worthlessness - "my stuff is worthless, and so am I"?

A group of friends and I would like to address this issue. We are working on our first dufflebag drive, to support our local foster care programs. The first drive will conclude just before the new school year (August 2008). At that time, we will decide whether to continue our efforts as an ongoing project.

The $15 will go toward the purchase of one new/gently used duffle bag. But what I am truly wishing for is moral support, and some great ideas from the GoN community. If you have ever worked on a project like this before (especially from the ground up) I'd love to hear from you.

Thanks for considering my wish!

To warm my heart, just for a day

So far, 2008 has been a challenge, to put it mildly. With the exception of working to get a non-profit organisation off the ground [ link ] , I have had little to be truly happy about. It's been one crisis after another.

Welcome to real life, right? ;-)

One thing that would really pick me up is to have lunch at my favourite restaurant. It's in a historic mill building, on the banks of a waterfall in Vermont. Being able to go there again would just fill my heart as well as my tummy. It would remind me of special times when life was not so much of a struggle, and that things *will* get better!

I would just pick up and go, but the price of gas is too prohibitive now. This restaurant is 90 miles away. But if the cost of lunch is covered, then I could just about swing it.

I've put this wish in the Greedy category, because it's not food, clothing, or shelter. Of course, I don't need this for physical survival. But my emotional health could use a bit of a kick-start.

Please help me to go "home" for a day.

This homesick country girl needs to get back to the country!! It has been months since I have been able to get north, and my migration instincts are kickin' in, big time.

I have a membership to a farm museum in Vermont which provides me with free admission, so that I can pet as many lambs, horses and cows as I want.

I need some bovine hug therapy. Please help me with gas money so I can cuddle some sweet Bambi-lookin' babies.

My 10 yr old daughter rescued 2 piggiesfrom being eaten. Yes some people kill and eat guinea pigs! She has trained them to do some small tricks. She started taking the one 'Truffles' to school to show him off. THEN decided to take him to our local ARC (a place for disabled children and children with special needs) She shows off her piggies and it is such a fun experience. One day she wants to be a vet. She has been taking her girls in a box or large plastic tote, but this is dangerous and not good in the car. She would like to take her pigs to our local schools Autism classrooms and join 4H,but needs to have a carrier. Thanks for reading!

A decent job

A decent job

I have never had long term stability in my life. I have always worked 2-4 jobs at once and have a college degree but never made over the median income ever in New England. I was laid off in 2000 and lost all my savings, credit, and most of my belongings in 2001. Eventually i had to live in my car for 2.5 yrs (combined over several instances).I lost friends and people i loved, who avoided me and abandoned me. Perhaps i scared them with my failure to support even myself. I had dozens of job interviews and even sent out letters offering to work for free in return for an opportunity to learn hot new skills and a good reference with no response.I learned that a couple of former employers had been blackballing me on references. One of them was because i was aggressive in helping the company maintain responsible chemical handling and not pollute the environment. The other,8 years later i still do not understand why they blackballed me. I contacted my congressman and senators for help and no one with the exception of Joe Moakley expressed any interest in helping me. He died before he could help me.

I ended up filing for bankruptcy and defaulted on a student loan, which bars me from working for the fderal government. Who plans on being unemployed for 2 years? And then being underemployed for another 10 or more?

Prior to all this, i was a long term active volunteer and helped friends and a needy brother. I was 6 months away from being debt free and was saving avidly. I thought i was doing all the right things. Two years later, a Methodist minister approached me and gave me $600 to help me. It was unexpected and he did not know me. He only said he wanted me to go back to the way i was before all this happened. When i lived in my car no one called me to see how i was doing, whehter i was freezing to death or not. During this time i developed what i believe was stress-induced diabetes. I went without health care for over 11 years. All i wanted was a decent job.

All i have ever wanted in all this is a decent job. I am not asking for money, just a job which is good and stable so that i can rebuild my life and get back to the "giving mode" i prefer.
