enough money to get a vet check for three rescued 'toos

Last month I was blessed with the opportunity to rescue 3 cockatoos and bring them home. Only down side was I blew my truck engine on the way home. The new birds are in need of a vet check, one is almost completely featherless, and I need to have test run on all of them.
The cost for all of them will be several hundred dollars but I can manage part of it. If I didn't have to get my truck's motor replaced I could handle it all.
Perhaps I shouldn't have brought them home but they are becoming more relaxed in their new surroundings and are beginning to eat a better diet and learning how to play and interact with people. They are at their forever home now, God willing, because I don't believe theyshould be moved again; the oldest, in his 20's has finally started playing andtalking. Please, if anyone could help just a bit I know thAt I could turn these intelligent parrots lives into something good.

I've worked animal rescue and rehab for over 30 years and usually managed fine but this time I really need some help.
Some people have said just sell some of your other birds but all of them are rescues and just aren't good "pet" animals; all have been abused in some way and winning their trust has been a long, hard, albeit it rewarding job. I just can't let them go back to what they were.
Thank you for your consideration.

My 15 year old daughter works hard 20 hours a week at a stable in exchange for free lessons. In the summer she's in horse shows but she doesn't have anything of her own except boots. She rides English and for shows she has to have guideline show outfit to enter and she has to borrow shirt, breeches, jacket, pin, hat etc from all different people...one show last fall the girl who was susposed to lend her a jacket didn't show up.

This activity keeps her off the streets (we live in a bad area) and she works so hard mucking stalls and doing barnwork just to get to ride and this summer it would be awesome if she had her own show apparal for the shows. She needs breeches, helmet, pin, shirt (with collar) and jacket. She rides English
If anyone has any that would fit her your not useing she'd be thrilled. She's a size xm - small. (0-3)

Washington DC or Bust

Formaldhyde, Antifreeze, Aluminum Oh My!
A pretty toxic combination that I wouldn't want a "shot" of!

As some of you me of you may know our son Jamie is autistic and non verbal. He regressed at 2 years old and lost all of his language and developed autistic like behaviors and characteristics. What you may not know is that we think his regression was caused by the Mercury he recieved through his childhood vaccinations and medications. Many of the symptoms of Mercury ( commonly called thimersol) posioning are the same as some of the symptoms of Autism. In the late 90s the EPA found that children were recieving 187 times the recommened daily limit of Mercury exposure for an adult.[ link ]
Although Mercury has been removed from most childhood vaccinations many dangerous and toxic chemicals still remain. Some of these being formaldhyde, antifreeze, aluminum, cyanide and the list comtinues. [ link ]

Actress Jenny McCarthy whose son also has Autism will be holding a Green our Vaccines and Autism Rally in Washington DC this June. It is very important to the health of children that our voices be heard and the government take a strong look at just what is going ino their tiny bodies.
We are not Anti Vaccine nor do we believe that all autism is caused by Mercury. We do believe that vaccines should be safer and some children with mercury posioning may have been misdiagnosed as Autistic.
My husband Dave has expressed an interest in going to the Rally in Washington DC and I'm doing whatever I can to get him there. So far we have raised 63.00 selling Autism Awareness ribbons and through donations I have a chip in page for this purpose and anyone who donates 3.00 or more will get an Autism Awareness ribbon.

Every little bit helps us reach our goal, even if its pennies or just your stars!
Thanks so much for your support.

IF I HAD TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS TO SPEND!!! *Dr. Seuss Wish*

IF I HAD TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS TO SPEND!!! *Dr. Seuss Wish*

Sure wish I could win, I say.
So I could go to town one day.

What would I buy with all this money?
Well, I'm here to tell you honey......

First, I'd buy a DVD,
A five dollar one would leave more money for me.

Then I'd get me some Crystal Light,
I love this stuff, but, don't drink it at night!

Now I have fifteen dollars to go,
I may even get me a ring for my toe.

I could really go out on a rail,
and get me some polish .... to paint my nails!

And if I have something left after this spree,
I even get something, for someone, other than ME!

My son Tucker just has not been himself lately. I miss my buddy, he has just been so quiet, blue and worried; that he has me scared. There is just so much going on at home and he takes everything into himself wanting to "cure" the world that it is affecting him a lot. The next few days this week; he will have a lot of visits with counselors, doctors and all to help with his feelings; but I think a night/day out to watch a movie and get away would do wonders for him. There is a cheap theater nearby with a couple of movies that he is interested in seeing and a McDonald's near also- I would like to be able to send him and his dad for a day/night out of fun,so he can go and forget about things for a bit and just have a chance to smile maybe. Can you find it in your heart to help a "gentle giant" find his lost smile? Thank you for reading and your vote ((huges)) Georgie

We have been so blessed with 2 wonderful boys, Lucas is our youngest and is autistic. We have a very long appointment on May 9th to have an extensive full re-evaluation done to see how far Lucas has progressed and what more will be needed to help this wonderful little boy reach his full potential and be happy with his life. We have been blessed with help for transportation, we leave that morning at 6:30 am for our 9am appointment and we may not be back home until 6pm or so because of traffic. My wish is to have a visa/gift card to be able to get him a treat of a few happy meal/kids meals or something like that because it's going to be a long hard day for a little guy and it would really make him smile. I will be fine- I have slim fast stuff to take for me-but,for this long day, I would really like to be able to reward him for going through all this- thank you all so very much for reading this and your vote- Georgie

We have had alot of things going on and alot of things have came up and it has put us behind on our bills. My check barely covers the rent let alone all the other bills. I have gotten help with our electric bill for this month but still have others that are due that I need to pay. I wish I had a crystal ball to see the future!! Had I of known these things were gonna come up, I wouldn't of went away about two months ago.

I have tried several places around here and they don't help with anything but the electric, gas bill (heat) or rent (some places). I don't know where to turn at this point except to put it in God's hands. If you know me, you know I am one to cover up our needs, but right now we need some help and I am here asking for your votes to help us. The bills still needing paid come to over $380 so I know the $100 sure would help alot. If you would like to donate, I have the page at reality charity that expires in a few weeks it is [ link ] and I also have a paypal you can Pm me for it!! Any little bit would help to get us closer to paying the bills.

FLARED Up 4 Team Rachel!...diagnosed but not destroyed
Racing to save lives
The duty of helping one's self in the highest sense involves the helping of one's neighbors. - Hi im Rachel. My Reason to FLARE UP is to join people around the world in celebrating those who have survived crohns & colitis, remembering the people we've lost, and supporting the lifesaving mission of the Crohns & Colitis Foundation of America. You are helping deliver the hope that future generations will not have to endure crohns & colitis threatening the lives of their friends and family. You have the power to fight back against a disease that affects millions. im a wife, a daughter, a stepmother, a nanny, & a sister.i am 26. i have crohns and have been living with it for at least 10 years now, ive been on just about everything from over 30 pills a day, to 3 hr remicade treatments, to self injections. ive survived 5 major abdominal surgeries already and still have hospital bills over 5,000. i went from having long hair to it falling out by the handfuls =( that just goes to show you how strong some of these medications really are! not to mention how expensive. i went from weighing 90 something lbs in one year to weighing in at my heaviest weight EVER at 120lbs all in a matter of months. i was happy for the weight gain. but the "MOON" face from the steriods was so unencouraging. i have trouble keeping weight on and im now struggling to stay over 100 lbs once again. i was also hospitalized for 3-4 days in march 08. but as for as the crohns goes, im a SURVIVOR. ive recieved over 24 pints of blood for one surgery and came close to death more then once. my older sister also has this disease. it is hereditary. she is also in the process of trying to get hers under control. i have a very SERIOUS case, it is becoming more common now but most ppl i know that have it, havent under gone even 1 surgery. yet all of them have been hospitalized. Take Steps for Crohn?s & Colitis is the nation?s largest event dedicated to finding cures for digestive diseases. Not only am I participating in this event, but I am raising money for crucial research that wouldn?t even have been possible a few short years ago.

I'm putting this in the Needy catagory because there are many people that may not even know that they are suffering from this! We recently found out that several of my own family members have this and it has various symptoms and can be life threatening! I hope many of you will take a look at the You Tube video as there are various stages and currently I have two family members that have the stage 4 ! I'm currently trying to get my grandson tested for it since it can be hereditary! If my wish should win all the proceeds will be donated for more research so that others may be able to have a cure in the future! If anyone is interested in learning more you can contact me at dhicks.3.24.68@gmail.com . Thanks for looking at my wish!

Netflix, comfort items, and cards for my BIL - 4th try

Netflix, comfort items, and cards for my BIL - 4th try

Mike had the first of his surgeries to try and save his arm on April 15th. He will be spending his summer in a cast up to his shoulder. Mike has been dealt so many hard blows in life and my wish is to try and make him as comfortable as possible after surgery as well as provide him with some entertainment. Sarahbaby was so generous and donated a DVD player to Mike but now he needs movies and snacks... We have had some very generous members who have offered to donate movies and snacks to Mike. Thank you so much to you all for your kindness.. Words can not begin to express how grateful and touched we are by the kindness of GoN community during this trying time. From the bottom of my heart I thank you all for your kindness and generosity..

It would be so wonderful if Mike could get some get well cards too.. We are the only people he has in the whole world and it would make his day to know that there are people out there that are thinking about him and care. If you would like to send him a card please pm me for Mike's info.

Thank you to all of you for your kind words, prayers, and support through all of this. ~HUGS~

Thank you for taking the time to read and vote on my wish...

If you want to know more information on Mike's condition (he is handicapped) please feel free to PM me.

UPDATED TO ADD - Mike had his first surgery and things went well... We learned that he has NO elbow left so he will need an additional surgery to correct that through fusion or possibly an elbow replacement. The doctor thankfully agreed to a hard splint instead of a cast so we can remove it for baths and such.. Mike will be having his next surgery in July so we have 2 1/2 months til the next round. He is home and bored and driving me crazy! Thanks! ~HUGS~

UPDATED AGAIN TO ADD- Kinds of movies- Sports movies such as Longest Yard, Mr. Baseball, Etc.
The Borne Movies (i.e. Borne Identity), Suspense, and he said " Movies that make you think".

I hope that helps..

I'm making a real wish, how shocking!

Matty and I have a pretty significant anniversary coming up on July 6th. We've already booked a hotel room for that weekend at the beach, to celebrate not only our anniversary, but the fact that our pain in the ass roommate will be out of the house and out of our lives by then.

Those that are close to me know what a struggle it's been for him and I to find our way and stay strong. Both of us have chronic illness, we've overcome obstacles with family and friends and so much more. He is my everything - my soulmate, my best friend, my lover, my ALWAYS. I want to get something pretty and special to surprise him with and to help celebrate our relationship.

The station nightclub fire was absolutely horrifying. My husband loves what I affectionately call geezer rock, especially Great White, and each day of my life I am so greatful we didnt have the money for him to go.
Most of the victims were not approved for disablility, and have not yet recieved financial help. It really breaks my heart. Most have children to provide for. Almost all who did live have been horribly disfigured. I cant begin to find words to describe how my heart breaks for them.If this wish wins I will ask Blue to send the money right to them as a donation from Cambrian House/ Greedy or Needy. I am enclosing some links that I hope you will take the time to read, Please. These are average hard working people just like us whose lives were forever changed in an instant.

F*O*O*D edited to reflect private donations

Simple, see for yourself we have NO FOOD. This is an actual photo of our icebox. No, I do not get AFDC, welfare, TANF or anything else anyone might ask. (Not that there is anything wrong with those) I work via my ebay store. Around my disabilities. I earn $27 too much a month by their crazy guidelines to get food stamps. Yet we are considered low poverty income. Hmmmmm. Food bank is only available every 3 months and you have to have gas in your vehicle to get out to it, it is 18 miles from here. SO....that should answer all of the questions, maybe.....and here is my wish for our family. For Food Items. Nothing outragious. Just staples and nutricious.

I am NOT married. Forgive the nasty hateful trolls for their slander. I am. [ link ]

To answer the question: The wish was initially amount of $100. I had small donations come to me through paypal. One of the amounts I thought was a donation towards food was actually the funds for making Momalonewith3's sling for her PAID BY HER SECRET PAL. These funds were not towards this wish for food. Ask any questions. I have no secrets.

To my lil helper(s) THANK YOU for making the donation to help, we managed until today's vote ends because of YOU.

Anita is a very loving and caring member of our community who is having a very hard time. She has had a lot of things go wrong and is behind on her house note and other bills which has lead to he impending eviction from her home. She is always the first person to lend an ear when someone needs it. She is the most sincere loving person I have ever met. When I was diagnosed with cancer she did not hesitate to step in and help. She put up a wish for me to get help with my medicines and it won. She made a daily ritual of making me smile and is a friend to everyone. Please lets get together and help her to get a foot up. I know there are so many here who need help but I would love to see her get her turn and receive the help she so desperately needs. She has put up wishes for help in the past but has not had any luck so if you can please help by supporting this wish and give her your stars. Thanks and hugs to all. Anita has won 100.00 from the SCF this will go into her chipin page which is posted in the comments on this wish. I wanted everyone to know so they would not feel as we were keeping things from them. Her need is much greater than the 100.00 you can go to the chip in page. She needs $550.00 from what the page says but its really more than that. Please continue to support this wish if you feel you can. And God Bless you all and the SCF for the love and support that has been shown to Anita during this difficult time. Thanks

Baseball, Baseball, and more Baseball-GRANTED!!!

****My wish was granted by a few angels here. Thanks so much everyone for your support :).****

I am sure most of you know that I am a huge sports fan, but what you don't know is how much I love Baseball. Every year my dad and I compete in fantasy baseball with his postal worker buddies, which is totally awesome because my dad has taught me everything I know about Baseball. I really want to kick his butt, and I could do it better keeping track of my players as they play. My dad pays for me to get in because he is awesome like that, but I can't keep up with my daily stats without Stat Tracker. It is only $9.99 for the entire year which isn't bad at all, but right now any money I have needs to go to more important things. Your vote would really help and I would really appreciate it too! Thanks so much!

Wish amount edited to reflect $10 in donations on WUAH.

I love making greeting cards for people and I have a huge list that I've promised to send but, that I'm behind on.
Normally, I'm really good at following through with what I say I'm going to do but, without some help that might change.

I've been gifted with a fresh supply of greeting card stock but, without a new color ink cartridge, I'm not going to be able to fulfill those promises.
The last cards I printed came out all weird so, I know it's not gonna be long till it's completely gone.
I just put in a new black one so, I should be good for a while with just a color one.

I chose to put this in the Greedy category because, it's definitely not something I "need".
It's just something I want because I enjoy making cards and because I hate to go back on a promise.
I wouldn't have offered so many if I'd known I was running low on ink but, my indicator said it was still at least half full. :(

I need a Lexmark #26 cartridge.

Thanks for reading and I hope you'll consider voting for such a mundane wish in the greedy category.

*edit* Just so everyone knows, I'm running this same wish on WUAH.

I know, I know. Same old boring wish, for money for bills. However, if anyone knows my situation they know every penny has been going to rent, gas to get to work, and very little food and nothing to utilities or phone. My phone and DSL are so important to us, as my son goes to school FT online and communicates by phone with his instructors. He has made the dean's list each semester and is doing so well I hate to have him give it up. Also, I am adding a PT Faculty job teaching online and I will communicate with my students by phone sometimes as well. I need this income in addition to my FT job to bring me up to what I was making before my 7 months unemployment. Please help us catch up and stay afloat. Please help us keep moving forward. Thank you, friends!

WISH GRANTED - THANK YOU SO MUCH - I am putting this in the greedy category because it's not something he absolutely has to have BUT it's something that he deserves. Alex is 2 and in August of 2007 he fell into a fire pit due to a babysitters negligence. Alex lost the ends of all his toes and has skin grafts on both legs, ankles, feet as well as his arm and hand. He absolutely adores Thomas the Tank Engine. He just got out of the wheelchair and loves the blinky shoes that we've seen. WalMart has the outfit, the hat and the blinky shoes but it's almost $45. I would love to be able to get these for him. We have been so blessed that Shriner's has paid for all of his 22 surgeries. He will have to redo grafts for the next 16 years and they are going to cover all of them. That in itself is more than I could ever ask for from them. I would just love to make him smile. He's an awesome child who's very smart. When he saw the shoes he says he needs to "get a job" so he can buy them *LOL* Because his feet go through swellings, he has several different sizes of shoes (depending on the day) but it would be great if the majority of the time he could have some blinky shoes. Thank you so much for checking out our wish. For more information on us, check out my profile. Thanks again :)

We now have $20 in donations so I lowered the wish amount :) Thank you to our secret friends! I'm putting this in greedy because it's not a major deal. Johnnie (Llama) wants to take driver's ed with the rest of his class. Problem is, it's $100 to do it through school - if he takes it this summer its $250 *ugh* He is going to try and save up some money to help just in case he has to take it this summer or next but...It's not a major wish but it would be something nice for him. He's in the 9th grade - trying to get a job to help but so far hasn't had any luck. He never complains, even though he's still living in a living room with his brother. By getting his permit, he'll be able to learn how to drive before he's let loose on his own *LOL* Thank you so much for reading our wish :) Oh, and by the way...His shirt says, "Got Llama?" *ROFG*

This homesick country girl needs to get back to the country!! It has been months since I have been able to get north, and my migration instincts are kickin' in, big time.

I have a membership to a farm museum in Vermont which provides me with free admission, so that I can pet as many lambs, horses and cows as I want.

I need some bovine hug therapy. Please help me with gas money so I can cuddle some sweet Bambi-lookin' babies.

My kids really need this swing set from costco.com. They're good kids and they DESERVE it. I have 12 kids and it's hard to keep them busy and I feel this swing set would cure their boredom. [ link ] If anyone would rather donate directly to me, here's my PP address takecareofmykids@yahoo.com

thanks!

a chance to swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove!

a chance to swim with dolphins at Discovery Cove!

Hey everyone! I am doing this to hopefully fulfill my dream of swimming with dolphins. Now you are probably asking yourself, "Why should I vote for her?".... well let me tell you a little bit of why you should. I am a 25 year old CANCER survivor! My battle with Hodgkin's Lymphoma started in March of 2006 and is still ongoing. I just finished chemotherapy for the 4th time in May. For the past two years my life has consisted of chemotherapy, radiation, an autologous stem cell transplant, many hospital stays, doctor's appointments, a broken arm, lung damage from chemo/radiation, having to wear oxygen 24/7 and much, much more.
I have not had the chance or opportunity to do much of anything, but heal my body and try to kick the cancers butt! My goal is to make a trip to Florida to swim with the dolphins. Because the past two years have been so tough and I have not obviously been able to work and
