I know that is a ridiculous sum of money! If I don't have an autologous (not embryonic) stem cell transplant I will likely die. I have a clotting disorder called Antiphospholipid Antibody Syndrome that has caused me to have a heart attack and many strokes; and as is the case with autoimmune diseases, if you have one you have several. I am very happily married and I am an excellent professor. I make a huge impact in the lives of my students. I have so much left to give. To read about this struggle, please visit my blog: [ link ]

An ebook reader

An ebook reader

This is a truly naughty wish!! I would like an ebook reader. Maybe the one in the video, maybe not. I read 3-4 books a week, and even thought I usually buy them used, it's getting expensive! Plus, when I'm done, I usually stack them up by my nightstand before moving them into the office/library/storage room. Last time I moved them, there were about 40. It's a fire hazard! Also, my fiance has a reader, and so many more cool toys than I. So I want to get a nicer reader than he has.. that's really naughty, too!

this is my third try at this wish please grant it this time....please vote positive for my wish and help me get it granted this time or if you can donate even so much as a dollar it will help me at least save up to hire a private investigator if i don't win. My father came to America from Cuba in the 70's or 80's I was born May 2, 1984 he went to prison when I was about 5 or 6 yrs old by the time I turned 7 my mom had passed away... She and I would visit him in prison alot! I lost touch with him for a very long time but in 2002 I regained information on what prison he was in and his address.. In december of 2003 I discovered he was released to the us immigration holdings where he would go before a cuban board to determine if he would stay in America or be deported... I was told to write a letter and send it to the board.. I wrote the letter but before I could mail it off explaining that I am his daughter ( US BORN) I was told that he was no longer in their custody... I just need some closure I'm not sure if he's still in america or in cuba I'm not sure if he's dead or alive.. I'm so scared because I heard that when you sneak out of the country and are deported back you are killed because you desserted your country I have not seen my father in 18 years... and what hurts so bad is that I look exactly like him everytime I look in the mirror it's like i'm looking at him but in reality I'm so far away from him...His real name is Isidoro Vega - Moreno I was sent a letter from his sister in cuba in 2004 but it was in spanish and I could not understand what the letter was saying on the letter was even some phone numbers One number had hermana next to it meaning sister I have a sister that looks exactly like me as well over in cuba that I have never met in this letter was her number.. but hurricane katrina came to my hometown of new orleans and the letter was destroyed by flood waters along with everything else we owned.

This is my wife [ link ] , this wish is for a tool she needs for her job, so I am begging my friends list for all the 5s you guys are willing to give her. Her story is true.

several times she has had the money and we had to use it for an emergency. And the new ones are outrageous, the refurbs are much more reasonable. Her job may depend on it, and I can't work and Social Security hates to approve people in Texas so I am still fighting them

Gotta go to the junk yard tomorrow and spend some of the saving for the Ipod on parts for her car, so it can be driven. So, if you can see your way to giving her a 5, I'm forever in your debt. Thanks for anything you can do guys.

Romantic Date Night with my wonderful husband

Romantic Date Night with my wonderful husband

Okay this is truly a naughty wish. I am asking for $100 to cover a wonderful and romantic date night with my husband. This would cover us going out to the movies and a dinner and of course the babysitter. Babysitters are expensive so we don't get out that much due to this fact. This would allow us a leaisurely dinner, movies and maybe a walk along the river without having to rush back. Hey all couples with kids can relate to this one.

Money for a Doppler for a Pregnancy Loss Nonprofit

Money for a Doppler for a Pregnancy Loss Nonprofit

We have a local nonprofit in the Portland area that helps parents after pregnancy and infant loss. I know there is always a need for professional dopplers to calm the moms-to-be's fears of having another loss. Until you have gone thru a pregnancy or infant loss, you have no idea how scary it is to have a subsequent pregnancy after loss.

Many moms have to wait until their ultrasounds to know that their baby is still alive. They live from ultrasound to ultrasound. The dopplers sold at BabiesRUs are poor quality. Moms can rent the dopplers via internet companies but the monthly cost is pretty expensive.

This nonprofit helps parents by offering a resource library and support groups. This wish would greatly help mothers and fathers.

I wake at around 5:30-6am-ish, visit the hospital from 8am-10am, go to work between 12pm and 9pm, go back to the hospital from 10pm-11pm and then I'm back home - wide awake, unable to sleep!

I've booked a week off work, so I'm off from the 8th, to the 18th of April. It means I have an extra 9 hours in the day! Lots more hours to relax and de-stress!

I could really do with a lovely, long sleep!

a comfortable desk chair

a comfortable desk chair

  • By: Ambrotos
  • Amount: $180

  • Wish Points: 200.52

To put it shortly my chair is toast.

I had a very nice, comfortable, ergonomic desk chair. It was very old, and second hand. The ladies at the women's crisis center where I volunteer gave it to me when they replaced their office furniture. I loved in. Unfortunately, in the past few days the bolts started breaking. One at a time the heads of the bolts holding the chair to the base broke, Seeing as we are in the middle of a freak snow storm lasting days, I do not have a car, and all my boys were not in school due to the above two conditions, I had no way to run out to a hardware store to replace the bolts.

In the mean time I was just being careful about how I sat on the chair. My children however, are not so careful. This morning they started fighting over the computer and within seconds of starting to shove, and while I was making my way across the room to stop them, the third bolt snapped, and the boys fell with their full weight on the chair. The frame of the chair, and the spring bent and the upholstery tore much more than it was already torn.

In short, it is time to hold a funeral for my beloved chair and start looking for a replacement.

Letters to any and all representatives in every state

For the cost of a sheet op paper and some ink, an envelope and a stamp, or even cheaper, a few minutes typing on an email, you can get the word out that the public at large is tired of a very serious disease being largely underfunded by our government for researching a cure. Cancer get many many million, as do many other diseases, but Lupus takes as many lives, and gives people a much lower quality of life than does cancer. And just so you know I have lost two very dear relatives to cancer, My grandfather dies in a979 from Brain cancer and my Uncle died last year from prostate cancer. here is my blog entry about that [ link ]

LUPUS, is so misunderstood and so very badly researched due to lack of federal funding that there just isn't the manpower to find the cure, I know it is out there, we just need to find it.

So I wish you each to write a few letters and send them to the representative in your area, he/she will be listed in the yellow pages. And if this wish earns any money at all, I will donate it to a good group to further this research and ask our government to revamp their funding policy to give Lupus a fighting chance.

Why$200, well let us just say I don't care for greed, and if we ask for 200, then that leaves 300 for 2nd place which may well allow this voting round to fulfill 2 wishes instead of 1

You might say this girl never run out of wishes..... but i do know, one wish, one prayer, can make miracles happen... my father was admitted to the hospital yesterday and half of his body is paralyzed. He had undergone ctscan and will know the results this afternoon. I know i needed money for his hospital bills and meds, but i need more your prayers. It is just so painful seeing a special celebrate his birthday in a hospital and watching him last night, i sensed his bitterness for being a burden to his family.

More $ to be donated to Robinhood to help more people

Wouldn't it be wonderful if the Robinhood had more money for the weekly fund? Think if every member donated even $4 per month to the fund how those dollars could increase the funding for helping people. If this wish is to win, I would donate the money back to Robinhood Fund.

Here's the thing. I have a problem with getting across what I am trying to say sometimes without having it sound like a personal attack. Even if I am offering someone the benefit of my own experience it sounds like I am attacking them. I need to find a better way to communicate so people can understand when I am trying to help them, and not think that I am against them.

Plane tickets so we can meet our brand new nephew! 3rd try

  • Wish Points: 250.64

I live in Michigan. My brother and his wife live in Atlanta. They just had a brand new baby boy in February, their first child (that's him to the left). Money is tight for all of us, but my husband and I want desperately to go meet our new nephew! We can't afford to make the trip right now because we have some unforeseen taxes to pay this year.

We only need to buy plane tickets, $260 each (yep, the airfare went up) for myself and my husband. We'll be staying at my brother's house and using his car, so that's really all we need is plane tickets. It would cost as much (if not more) to drive, and that would severely cut into the amount of time we'd get to spend with my brother's family. Train tickets are twice the price for coach seats. A bus would probably take even longer than by car. So the least expensive way to get there, and also the method that allows us to spend the most time cooing over the new baby, is by plane.

Please help make our wish come true so we can meet our nephew before he's in kindergarten, lol.

A few people complained the first time I wished that this should be in the nice category. I just want to say here that I disagree. I believe nice wishes should be those that are a need, or something you want to do for someone else out of the kindness of your heart. This wish is totally selfish, lol, I just want to kiss those baby cheeks!!!

A night out for my Mom and Dad

Anyone who knows my parents knows that they deserve a little break. My mom is on RHF under the user name mightymom239, check out her profile. She has been going around voting and encouraging people and has yet to make one wish for herself.

For the past 31 years my parents have been caring for my 4 brothers, my 3 sisters and I. I have talked to several of my siblings about this and we all agree that the reason we have become the good people that we are, and the reason that the ones of us who have neurological, social and learning challenges have done so well is because of the support and teaching we got from our parents.

Even now, as an adult I still can count on my parents. I am a single mom with 5 boys, some of whom can be very challenging. There have been times that my parents have dropped important things just to come and help me out I think that they, more than many people , deserve a break... even more than I deserve my desk chair!

what I want to do is put together a little pampering kit, a few bath/massage products from Lush (for some reason even though they are strongly scented they don't seem to bother mom's allergies, a bottle of Dad's favorite wine, a gift certificate for dinner, a paid for reservation at a hotel that they would have to take Dad's bike on a bit of a road trip to get to, and an envelope with a bit of cash for gas money.

For the past 31 years, these two have been taking care of everyone but themselves. Help me to make their 32nd wedding anniversary this July special and all about them!

$1 will buy a Real Change Newspaper, an activist newspaper sold by homeless or those vulnerable to becoming homeless. By purchasing the paper, I will be giving a homeless person a hand-up & I will have the information necessary to build community with my nieghbors who are the most vulnerable.

The vendor keeps 70 cents for each paper he/she sells. The newspaper's mission is to be the voice of the homeless, those of us that don't have the resources to have our voices heard in the politcal system or throughout the community (i.e. park associations, libraries, & job programs). They have a "First Things First" policy.

Quote from [ link ]
Builds grassroots support for a more humane Seattle, by advocating that creating low-income housing and providing adequate shelter for all should be among our city?s highest priorities. First things First is working to ensure that elected officials know voters care about homelessness.

Real Change Organizing Principles
Real Change approaches all of our activities with the following principles. We believe:
? All people have the right to dignity.
? Diversity has intrinsic value.
? Poverty is political?systemic change is necessary.
? Building community is essential to social change.
? Political effectiveness requires staying power.
? Solutions to poverty must involve people who are directly affected.
? Risks are necessary to create positive change.
? Meeting people where they are honors their skills and potential.
? We are committed to quality, professionalism, and accountability in everything we do.

Should my wish be granted, a photojournal will be posted of the experience.

my grandmother to be cremated!

my grandmother to be cremated!

The last 8 months have been REALLY hard on my family. Mom mom found out that her husband of 18 years has been having an affair with a woman 23 years younger than him. She was so devesated that she tried to slit her own wrist. I had to rush her to the hospital while holding the bandages on her arms. No that she is better she is proceeding with a divorce. In the 6 months that he has been gone he has racked up $80,000 in debt by taking loans out on the home, credit cards and the such. The whole time he has not been giving my mother any support so we have been scraping together everything we have to keep the house, pay attorneys fees and the such. Last week my grandmother passed away SUDDENLY. I found her and did CPR to no avail. She left behind major debt and SEVERAL animals whom I am trying to take care of and adopt out. WE have absolutely no money to cremate her. It costs 789 I have managed to pay $200 toward it but really can't manage more with all the other bills. PLEASE HELP US! We are not even asking for money for services or an urn... Just cremation costs. We even had to transport my grandmothers body in the car to try and cut down on the cost.
