Hi, I am 25 year old California female. This year I quit smoking on Jan 5th and signed up to run in the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's team in training program.

I now train (run) 4 days a week and work out another additionally 3-4 times to get me ready to run 26.2 miles on June 3rd 2007. Before January I had never walked more than 5 or 6 miles and I had never run a mile before.

I am determined to raise as much money as possible to help fund life saving cancer research and to support patient support programs.

So far I have raised $1400 but I am trying to raise a minimum of $5000. You can help me by donating online at:

Or vote for me to get the wish of the week - to reach my miminmum fundraising goal I only need $3600 !!!

Money to build a home for street kids in Kathmandu.

Money to build a home for street kids in Kathmandu.

My wish is to raise money to build a permanent house for former street kids I founded in Kathmandu in 1997, Aastha House or House of Hope. I need approx. $200,000 to build the home. Our current home houses 21 kids, and we hope to build a home to house up to 60 boys and girls who formerly lived on the streets of Kathmandu.
Here are ways you can help make this wish come true:
1. Give me a vote of confidence! All proceeds go to the building fund for Aastha House, House of Hope in Kathmandu, Nepal.
2. Donate right here! Just click on "Donate". This is the most convenient way, and all donations, no matter how much, are welcome. The cost of one Grande Latte at Starbucks can change a child's life.
3. Donate directly to my foundation by cheque. Send donations to: The Rising Child Nepal Foundation, 29 Taft Corners, PMB #131, Williston, Vermont 05465 c/o Maggie Namjou. All donations are tax deductible. I set up this foundation just to raise money to build our home.
4. Buy the Aastha House Project book at [ link ] All proceeds go to my home for kids and the work of documentary photographer Naomi Johnson with impoverished youth around the world.

Volunteer! Please contact me for further info, you can read our current Australian volunteer Laura's blog on her work at Aastha House and travels around Nepal at www.namaste-nepal.blogspot.com. We have had volunteers from the USA, Australia, New Zealand and all over the EU. Laura describes Aastha House in her blog as "endorphin central", as the kids are so happy and truly appreciate their new lives off the streets! Most volunteers have found me through word of mouth. I get emails daily from around the globe of someone who had been to my home for street kids!

I take no salary for this work, and it is an all volunteer organization except for my loyal houseparents who live with the children at Aastha House. You can be assured all of your money goes totally to the building fund. You are welcome to write me, read my website, talk to past volunteers or come visit us in Nepal!

Thanks,
Maggie (less)

I am running a marathon for Charity - the Leukemia & LYmphoma Soc. Soc. I have committed myself to raising a minimum of $2400, on May 18th any funds not yet raised I will have to donate out my own pocket.

So far I have raised $1781.40 through friends, family, online blogging and such. I will be holding fundraisers at local restaurants also through the month of April and particpating in other group fundraising events through my team.

This is my second try to raise money through a wish, I am hoping you will vote for me because the money raised through team in training and the L&L Soc goes to research and patient programs which is improving and saving the lives of 1000's of cancer patients accoss the country.

If you would like to read about my training and experience of doing this or to donate directly please go to..

This is the best thing I have ever done with my life and I plan on returning to team in training next year for the summer season to mentor and coach new participants. As not to be cornball but this experience has truely humbled me and inspired me and given me life the meaning it was lacking before.

I hope you vote me as I really need the help to reach the final fundraising goal as just being a participant has already cost a lot with the correct running gear etc and don't really have the funds to donate $600 out of my own pocket.

Thanks for taking the time to read this.

I want to put my daughter into dance

My oldest daughter who is now almost 4 years old was born with Bilateral Club Feet and has already had to have 2 surgeries to help correct them. She is a very very clumsy girl. She can be standing still and fall flat on her face. Not a joke. Her doctor says that her feet are corrected to the best of his ability, and suggested that I put her into dance class to help her with her balance. However, we can not afford to do that at this time, as we are on a tight budget and can barely afford to make ends meet. I would love for her to be able to experience this, as she is a character and loves to dance reguardless if she falls down all of the time. She just loves music and dance. She says that she wants to be a ballerina and be on American Idol when she grows up. Whenever she hears music she is right there singing and dancing right along with the song. I would truly appreciate any help that I can get, and would love for this dream to come true. Even though she isn't very graceful, I would love to see the look on her face when I would take her into class and sign her up. This is something that she really wants and I feel awful not being able to fulfill her wish and dreams. Again thank you very much for your support! May God Bless All!!
