As a single mom to 5 sons, some of whom have special needs, I don't get a break very often. Due to my boys needs I have not been able to work in a little over a year and therefore have very limited funds with which to budget.

Last year I was able to take a vacation to visit a very good friend of mine. This trip really refreshed me and enabled me to be a better mother to my boys when I returned home. It also gave me some time in person with my closest friend, who I talk to every day thanks to internet voice chat, but cannot visit as he lives on the other side of the continent.

I very much want to see him again, and to get away for a week while my children's father visits with them, to give me a chance to refresh, de-stress and give me he strength to continue to be the mother that my boys need me to be.

Money to finally pay off the credit card!!!

In 2001 we were debt free. Then we moved 2000 miles for a job that didn't cover our moving expenses. Then we had to buy new furniture. Then my husband's car died and he needed another one. Then I was downsized, a month after 9-11. There were no jobs to be found in my field, so we sent my husband to truck driving school so he would have a decent job when my unemployment ran out. I ended up finding a job before that, but the expense of the truck driving school, the move, the car, and being unemployed for nearly 6 months really added up.

Over the past 5 years we have managed to pay off most of the debt. We are down to $5000. We never use the credit cards anymore. Because of my talent for getting low or no interest credit cards the debt consolidation companies were never an option....our monthly payment to them would have been more than we were already paying to the credit card companies. I just want to get this paid off so we can finally move to the next stage of life and get a house. Sharing walls with other people has been frustrating at best, dangerous at worst (one guy kept calling the police on us and threatening to hurt my husband physically). I just want to finally be able to buy a house.

my son to have the chance to go to special ed summer school.

  • Amount: $295

  • Wish Points: 723.92

My son has severe autism. He does not qualify for the school district's free summer programs, so he can only attend a paid program. Of course, the program he qualifies for is the most expensive one, at $295, and it is also the first one to fill. His program is for the most severe special needs kids in the district (a district of >50,000 students), and there are only 20 spaces available. He lacks the academic skills to attend any of the bigger programs, and requires one on one supervision at all times.

I want to turn his application in ASAP, but I have to pay at the time I turn in the application, and I don't have the cash to pay it sitting around. Because they have been burned before, the district does not offer payment plans.

He's been kicked out of day cares, and a private sitter does not provide him with the peer interaction he so desperately needs in order to keep his progress. He loves being around other kids, and he doesn't really have friends to play with outside of school. He's nearly 8 years old and has never been invited to a play date or had another kid call up and ask if he can play. He's just too difficult to communicate with, even though he would adore hanging out with other kids.

He makes a ton of progress during the school year. I couldn't be happier with his teachers--they work miracles with him. I just don't want him to lose any of that progress over the summer.

He's also extremely difficult to care for on a full-time basis, so having him in a safe place for a few hours a day would allow me to run errands, get groceries, clean his room, and things like that without worrying about his safety or care and without having him running through the store and things like that. Since I am a single mom, I have no one to care for him during the summer. I love providing him with experience out in the real world, but sometimes I just want to buy some milk without it taking an hour.

help with my medical bills

Why me? Wow, this is honestly a hard question....because really *why me* instead of the next person? I am a SAHM of two children, my husband works very hard to support us...he is my rock and I don't know what I would do without him! We live in a small home and spend most of our time with our families. I'm not looking for enough to pay off ALL my medical bills, because my medical is ongoing...I deal with a few different autoimmunities. Last April my husband was in a mountain biking accident and broke his hip, missing work for a month and a half. Even though we did recieve a small amount of disability during this time, it was barely enough to make ends meet, and certainly not enough to continue paying for my medical treatment. Right now we are in the process of trying to find new doctors that can hopefully help me with my medical conditions. I suffer from a blood clotting disorder called APS/Hughes Syndrome, that cause me to have TIA's (mini-strokes), among other disorders that coincide with this. I need to be on treatment in order to not have a full blown stroke, and this is where we are hoping new doctors will help. I don't feel I'm more deserving of the next person by any means, I just want to get on top of my health and find the right medical help, so I can spend my quality time laughing and playing with my family :)

Hello, i am a 28 year old loving daughter and my father just recently had a massive heart attack and he has no heath insurance or presciption coverage. I can't afford to loose him now, because I have already lost my mother to cancer when I was 7 years old. He is all that I have. He is on a limited income and not eligable for medicare for another 2 years, and I am on a limited income also, and have 2 little girls that just adore their Pa-Paw. Anything that we can get will be greatly appreciated. Atleast enough to buy his medication, because his heart meds are very expencive. I would like to add that when my father was able to work, he was a extremely generous and giving man. It never mattered how much he had; he would always help a person out that was in need. Even a complete stranger. He would give his last dime and the shirt off of his back to anyone who asked. I just hate seeing him unable to take care of himself now. I really would appreciate every little bit of help that I can get. After all he did work extremely hard (sometimes 2 and 3 jobs at a time) to put food on the table, clothing on our backs and a warm dry place to live after the passing of my mother. He did the best that he could possibly do to raise a 7 year old and a 2 year old after she passed away. We are in the process of applying for disability, but it seems like it can take forever. I have also contacted drug companies, but have not recieved any replies. I would welcome any information that anyone can give me and put it to good use. Again anything that anyone can do to help us will greatly be appreciated. Thank You to all who can help, I greatly appreciate it and so will he. May god bless all!! A loving Daughter afraid of loosing her Daddy, Mia

P.S.
We just got his Hospital bills and they are outragious!!! $10,000 for our local emergency room for 3 hours!! $42,000 for Winchester Medical Center where he spent 1 week!! This is just crazy. He is now depressed and swears that he HAS to go back to work, regardless of what his Doctor tells him. I wish he never had to see those bills, because that is enough to give a poor healthy person a heart attack!! I honestly don't know what to do. There is No way we can pay!!

It's a long story, but we ended up with a very sick dog. We were supposed to be buying a puppy, and ended up with the puppy's mother instead. She had very severe mange, was underweight, had hookworm, yeast infections in both ears, mammary tumors and a tumor in her mouth. She has been on mange treatment since we got her 4 weeks ago. She had surgery yesterday for the tumors, and we had her spayed at the same time. She also had to have two teeth pulled.

While we knew we would have vet expenses when we thought we were getting a puppy, we didn't count on getting a dog with so many health problems that would need to be addressed. We have started her on her vaccinations, but there are still more to do. She has several more rounds of mange treatment to go through, and we have to pay to have the tumor from her mouth sent off. If it is cancerous, that is more potential treatment, depending on what type it is.

We've already spent $650 on her just in the four weeks that we've had her, and could potentially be much higher. We just couldn't not help her. She is such a sweet dog, and we know she will be a great pet once we get her health back to 100%. She is a pug, and her name is Thumper. The picture I put in is one I took the night we picked her up. She already looks so much better, but I wanted to show the condition she was in when we got her. She's finally getting some fur back on her hind quarters, and is plumping up nicely.

Thanks to everyone for reading this and considering our wish! :)

A Date! I need a date!

Here's the thing. I'm a single mom. I've been divorced since May of 2000. I have a full-time job working in an elementary school, and I raise a child with severe autism. He takes up a TON of my time and attention, so I have not really pursued dating at all. I have not had a date since my divorce, and I really would very much like to get out there and meet people!

I am not a club girl. I don't even know where the singles bars are, much less know anyone to hang out with. All my friends are married, and work is not a good place for me to meet single men.

I figure that leaves the internet. I've looked at free sites. Have you seen the personals on Craigslist? SCARY. I don't want random faceless hookups--I'm looking for someone with relationship potential.

I'm getting older. Well, I'm not old, by any means, but I'm not a young single anymore. I want to try something like match.com or eharmony.com. Match.com is $101 for a 6 month membership, with a "Make Love Happen Guarantee", whatever that means. I'd like to take the plunge, so to speak, and dive right into the online dating world. I don't need that extra stuff from Dr. Phil, just the basic membership would be fine!

I'm making some positive changes in my life lately. I'm eating better, I've joined a gym and am working on improving my fitness and losing weight, and I feel really good about my future. I think pursuing a dating relationship is the next logical step!

And since match.com is going to guarantee to make love happen, what have I got to lose? I promise I'll invite everyone who votes 5 stars to the wedding!

Most of my gift quilts go to people who strike my heart as needing a little lift or those who Just need to know that there are those who think of them. a signifigant portion will go toward purchasing the flannel to make a special raggy quilt that I will auction off with all proceeds going to Autism research and awareness. This is Autism awareness month and I would like to contribute .

I'm going to try for this wish once more since I still have time to get decent seats ~ I'm listing this under naughty, although I think it's really nice. It's a pretty simple wish, so not much to explain. My wife has really been wanting to see Wicked and it is coming to our town in May thru June [ link ]

I'm asking for this wish now (and the amount of $200) because I would like to reserve good seats for her & I, along with taking her out for a nice dinner beforehand (plus I will need to pay a sitter for the kids). Really no other reason than, she is deserving of this. She has stayed at home with our children for the last 8 years, been an excellent mother and caring wife. She never asks for anything, knowing that we live on one income and tight budget. She drives a beat up 1989 Mini Van, while all of her other lady friends show off their brand new vehicles, with DVD players in the back for their children. Yet, she still never complains. She never asks for anything. She continues to stay at home with the kids (we are a homeschooling family) and very seldom does she stop long enough to think of herself & her wants, even her needs sometimes get put aside.

She gets excited over being able to have 5 minutes to paint her toenails or when one of the kids give her a dandelion. She doesn't need roses, but boy does she deserve them!

Sorry for the corniness factor. I just want to give her something that she wants and deserves.
Thank you for your consideration and good luck to everyone else in this voting round.

This is my third try at this so I'll see what happens this time. I am a disabled divorced parent of an autistic child that lives with me. I have been trying to get disability for the past year but the agency requires extensive medical tests and ongoing treatment for me to qualify for disability. Since I am disabled and unable to get a job I have no medical insurance and no money to pay a doctor. My state claims I do not qualify for state medical assistance unless I am getting disability. Several law firms I have contacted have told me either they do not work in this state or tell me that I have to move to an adjoining state to get disability. I have contcted my congressional representatives and they are not much help. I need to be able to get the medical treatment I need to get the disability to pay my bills before my son and I lose our home.

Our son Benjamin is having his third open heart surgery in 2 1/2 yrs.
The surgery is scheduled for June 8th. He has a condition called
Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome and is undergoing a series of 3
surgeries in hopes that he will be able to live with his own heart and
not need a transplant. I am making this wish so that my husband and I
and our other two children can stay down in Philadelphia with Ben
during his surgery and recovery. The whole ordeal is estimated at 2
weeks from surgery, as long as there are no complications.

Specifically the money would be used towards the following: lodging,
food, parking @ $3 a day at the children's hospital and also up to $20
a day at a hotel. In addition to staying down in Philadelphia we
would also need to take care of bills at home and the possible
kennelling of our pets. Things have been tight monetarily since Ben
was been born but we wouldn't trade him for the world.....he has
brought such joy to our lives.

I usually don't do this kind of thing, but my friends have told me
that there is no reason that I shouldn't at least try. Hopefully you
will all find it in your hearts to vote for us.

2nd try: I'm desperate. 1) Thank you to everybody who donated & voted last week. And especially your comments really brightened me up when I was in bad mental shape.

For more information, PLEASE visit my livejournal which documents what I have been going through for the past six years. [ link ]' target='_blank'>link ]

I'm a 22 y/o who has Evans Syndrome, Fibromyalgia and Lupus. I am unable to work, and am trying to get on disability, but it's a long process. I've tried six times so far, and am going for a lawyer this time. I have been unable to work or support myself financially for a few years now. My wonderful boyfriend supports us, and we are in financial crisis. My horrible state provided insurance has been pulled out from under me during a time I need it the most. I'm going through withdrawals again next month for a drug called Prednisone, which is awful. Causes a lot of pain, no appetite and other side effects, in addition to already feeling terrible because of fibromyalgia+lupus combination. We are already broke, and now we have to try to pay for 5-10 prescriptions a month out of pocket, as well as visits to an expensive rheumatologist out of pocket. For links to articles about Prednisone, Lupus, Fibromyalgia and Evans, visit my blog please! [ link ]' target='_blank'>link ]

I also want you all to know that I will be paying this forward, once I get to a stable healthy point. I don't like to be desperate to the point where I'm begging for help, I'm usually the person trying to help others in every way possible. It's difficult to be so sick that people have to take care of you, and all you want to do is take care of them. Thank you again. Even if my wish isn't granted, I want to help people and animals when I'm better.

I wear stilettos all the time, and if you saw my legs, you would understand why. In short, they're phenomenal, and being such, they deserve to be seen in a terrible expensive pair of shoes. Why can't I afford them? Because I work my butt off to pay my bills as it is. Also, if you read my previous wish, you will realize the importance of the new car behind me in this picture. That's because I fulfilled my own wish and saved everything I made to put the down payment on my little Yaris. Unfortunately, I do not have the extra funding to buy the shoes I so desperately want. A bit shallow? Perhaps, but doesn't a girl deserve a treat every once in awhile?

I would like to be able to stand up to my doctors and say "Tell me what is wrong with me, now!"
I would like an end to the tests and and end to the "let's try a NEW medicine" game. I would also like them to look at me seriously and see me as a person in pain with feelings, not just words on a chart.
So, I'm asking for the amount of my co-pay, for the day I get the courage to go in there and say that, and say it calmly, so they don't dismiss me as hysterical.

Also does anyone know how I can make a powerpoint like this youtube one and use music that I bought from iTunes? :-) I don't want to put it on youtube, I want to make it for my kids.

Hello, this is the third round for this wish to be able to give my daughter dance lessons. My oldest daughter who is now almost 4 years old was born with Bilateral Club Feet and has already had to have 2 surgeries to help correct them. She is a very, very clumsy girl. She can be standing still and fall flat on her face. Not a joke. Her doctor says that her feet are corrected to the best of his ability, and suggested that I put her into dance class to help her with her balance. However, we can not afford to do that at this time, as we are on a tight budget and can barely afford to make ends meet. I would love for her to be able to experience this; as she is a character and loves to dance reguardless if she falls down all of the time. She just loves music and dance. She says that she wants to be a ballerina and be on American Idol when she grows up. Whenever she hears music she is right there singing and dancing right along with the song. I would truly appreciate any help that I can get, and would love for this dream to come true. Even though she isn't very graceful, I would love to see the look on her face when I take her into class for the first time. This is something that she really wants and I feel awful not being able to fulfill her wish and dreams. Again thank you very much for your support! May God Bless All!! Thank you to all of the people who where kind enough to vote the last round, thank you for all of the lovely comments!

Also, I know that this seems like a nice wish because of my daughters condition, but I feel that it is not a neccesity nor as important than some of these other amazing wishes. This is something that she and I want not need. It would just make me feel like a great mother to be able to put a smile on her face. (less)

Trip to Marine World or Great America

Trip to Marine World or Great America

Maria is a 9 yr old child that has Cystic Fibrosis. She is terminally ill and very sad right now because she is losing the battle with her illness. I would like to bring some happiness to her and her family and give her a day at Marine World or Great America. The cost would be for her and her family to go there, food, and maybe stay the night at a hotel. It will mean the world to her to spend the day at the amusement park without worrying about how her parents will pay for it. It will also bring some much needed joy to her siblings and parents. Please help Maria smile again by granting this one simple wish.
Sincerely,
Renee Donnelly, R.N, (Maria's Pediatric Case Manager)

I would like a falafel for lunch. I?d also like to wash it down with a Cherry Coke. I am a housewife and disabled. As most housewives know, it doesn?t pay very well. Taking care of the home is a big job, but has no benefits.

Every Wednesday my husband plays a round of golf with his brothers. He also has lunch with his mother (she pays). He gets his reward, and so should I.

For those of you unfamiliar with the falafel. Falafels are spicy chickpea balls fried and stuffed into a pita. It is accompanied by slices of ripe tomato, lettuce and tahini sauce. It is very, very tasty and also a vegan meal. So all vegetarians voting can feel comfortable in supporting this wish.

It should also be noted that the local falafel stand is one of the few establishments that carries Cherry Coke. To show our support to these fine vendors of a classic American beverage, I?d like to get one with my falafel. Don?t let Cherry Coke be a meer memory.

You won?t just be supporting my lunch dream, you?ll be supporting a locally owned small business.

Here?s the breakdown for my wish: falafel $3.95, cherry coke $1.25, tax $.35, 1 gal gas $3.41. Total $8.96 (I?ll toss the extra 4 pennies into the give a penny take a penny styro cup on the counter) Gas and tax reflect current rates in SM California.

Because I'm tired, I hate moving, I'm sweaty and annoyed. I don't know where the heck this junk goes. Or where it came from even. But if someone would come pack them for me, I'd certainly run to the store and pick up beer, soda, and pizza. You can even play with the Wii when every thing's boxed as long as you promise not to wing the remote through a window. I'd kind of like the security deposit back.

Who put all this junk in my house?!
