Thanks for the response--Sorry if I sounded snippy, we're such strong animal lovers it broke my heart to think someone questioned my ability to care for a fur baby.

Please don't assume what I can or can not afford. That's kind of rude...I just wanted to involve a community of people in saving an animal.

We(hubby and I) have veterinary pet insurance for our chinchilla and we would have insurance for the dog.
