Bio:
I have 3 kids and a wonderful hubby of 15 years. I love to craft and spend time with my family. My 2 oldest kids have a genetic disease known as FEVR or Familial Exudative Vitrealretinopathy. My daughter has been stable for most of her life and has not had to have any surgeries on her eyes. My son has had many surgeries on his left eye until he went totally blind in it and then in 2001 he had to have it removed due to severe pain. he now has a sceleral shell. They are both legally blind. My youngest son does not suffer from this disease. We run a very close family. The kids go to public school like everyone else. They are very well adapted. My son is a braille user so all his books and work is done in braille and he has an aide for his classes. My daughter prefers to be stubborn like her momma and do it the hard way. She only uses regular text size books and regular size equipment. She does use magnifiers though to read. She won't use a cane at school because she doesn't like to stand out. Like most teens she likes to chat on the phone and computer. My son is different. His vision loss has made him draw into his own little world. He loves his clay and games. He is weary of other children because he can't see their faces. We are hoping that Jr. High will bring him out of his shell some. That is my family in a nut shell. My world basically revolves around my kids. I love them to death. I would do anything for them.
