I'm a middle aged mom of two terrific daughters that are almost 19 years apart. I have 3 fantastic grandsons and a beautiful new granddaughter.
I was widowed in 2002 and my girls have both left home and have families of their own now so, I'm living alone for the first time in my life.
That was difficult to get used to at first but, I'm enjoying it now.
I do have a 'sometimes' room mate. He comes and goes as the wind blows.
My youngest daughter is also a member here as: Flame.
I was the coordinator of our church Food Shelf for 11 years and it was the most fulfilling job I've ever had. I had to give it up a few years ago due to my disability though and I still miss it very much. Having the resources to help those in need was a real blessing to me.
My husband's illness and death left us with some hard times for a while but, I'm seeing the light at the end of the tunnel now. At least as long as I'm careful.
Thankfully, we were blessed with a home through Habitat for Humanity about 13 years ago so, my house payments have remained affordable.
If anyone is ever looking for a charity to support either with labor or cash donations, I highly recommend Habitat. I volunteered with Habitat for several years and was on the Board of Directors for 3. That too I had to give up because of disabilities but I still work at promoting their cause as much as possible.
I love the feeling I get from helping others but, I live on a very small Social Security disabled widow's pension so, I'm not able to do all that I would like to do.
