Bio:
Hi, I am 25 year old California female. This year I quit smoking on Jan 5th and signed up to run in the San Diego Rock N Roll Marathon with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's team in training program.
I now train(run) 4 days a week and work out another additionally 3-4 times to get me ready to run 26.2 miles on June 3rd 2007. Before January I had never walked more than 5 or 6 miles and I had never run a mile before.
I am determined to raise as much money as possible to help fund life saving cancer research and to support patient support programs.
So far I have raised $1400 but I am trying to raise a minimum of $5000. You can help me by donating online at:

There are many different type of cancer, joel... Some are self-inflicted but many are not. Many kids are suffering from cancer and died even before they have the chance to see more of the world. Yes, there will never be one particular cure for cancer but research really need more funding to be able to treat and help lengthen the lifespan of cancer patients. When you're dying, even a few extra years could make a lot of difference.

i'm sure you're doing good work, but money put into cancer research is truly a waste. i hope you learn that one day. cancer is a killer that will never be cured, because people will continue to live foolish lives with foolish habits, thereby perpetuating cancer's existence. cancer = evil. it cannot be destroyed, unless the entire earth is destroyed.
it would be much smarter to teach people how to be well and live well, rather than treat cancer and pay it so much money and attention.

Congrats on quitting smoking !!! It took me several times. I have chronic bronchitis & slight asthma [in addition to my many other disabilities]. I have also had 2 lumpectomies [both on the left breast - 10 yrs. apart].
You're doing a wonderful thing with your runs & training, not just for yourself, but for others as well !!!
