Bio:
I was born an imaginative right brained adventurer. I grew up in Northern Ontario and developed my talent and style mainly through a lifetime of experimentation and self discovery. Art has always been my most effective form of expression. As a child I created a series of symbols and line styles that I would use in a visual diary that only I could read. At that time in my life my art was very personal.
From a very young age I have felt the call to travel and experience the world. Throughout high school I spent my summers on the great lakes working on boats, teaching seamanship on the great lakes. The adventure of sailing has always had a strong part in feeding my passion and inspiring great works of art within me. I achieved top honors at Timmins High and Vocational School for advanced level visual art and fashion design courses. During this time I did some volunteer mural painting for elementary schools and a child and family services playroom. I also wrote and illustrated comic books that sold at a local comic book store.
I graduated with honors from George Brown College's Visual Art Fundamentals program, where I took life drawing classes that helped develop my eye for realistic, dynamic detail. Toronto can be a wonderful place for an artist. I drew inspiration from walking through King Streets hidden art gardens and experiencing the culture that is Queen Street. During these times I was also greatly inspired by the works of Brian and Wendy Froud. My work started to stray from the dramatic black and white images from my dark comedy comics to playing with colour and more playful subject matter. "Faeries" became a strong subject of interest.
Next there came a short stay in our beautiful nation?s capital which sparked the flame that drove me to embark on a journey of self discovery that took me on great adventures. They started with working on a 250-foot tall-ship, which brought me to Halifax where I worked in ship construction and lived on a rusty old decommissioned hospital ship on the downtown waterfront. There I met more wonderfully creative, artistic people then I ever had before. Canada=s east coast is rich with creative culture and greatly impacted my development as an artist. In this time I had several commissions for gray scale ink drawings of ships, some custom tattoo designs and several highly realistic (mainly children's) portraits in acrylic.
The adventures that followed are too numerous to name but to give you a taste; without a penny to my name, working for room and board; I experienced the east coast of Canada from the back of a motorcycle, sailed across the ocean, crawled through crystal caves in Bermuda, swam with wild barracuda and bat-rays , sailed through schools of wild dolphins almost close enough to touch, battled hurricanes and gale force winds with my hands on the wheel of a three-masted schooner, listened to a soul altering musical performance played just for me by a group of Harley riding, Bohemian Rasta music men, and , with no land in sight, watched a full moon lunar eclipse on a crystal clear night, from the middle of the Bermuda Triangle. And so much more, all of which gave me a new found love of colour, and the confidence to share my art with the world. I learned that the world is full of beautiful things, and it is my dream to be a part of that beauty, through my art. From the lizard on a colourful cottage wall to the salty ocean wind curling through my hair at the top of a one hundred foot high ships mast as I sail through a world of pink and lavender sunset, my discoveries through exploration constantly impacted the development of my artistic vision.. My focus turned more and more to beautiful vibrant colour and invigorating positive energy. This time changed the way I looked at myself and my art. I gained a strength and confidence in the importance and possible impact of my work and a great desire to share it.
I returned to northern Ontario in 2004 where I ran a children?s day camp in Britt. The program included arts and crafts, story telling, imagination games, singing and out door adventure play. The program was designed and ran by myself and one other woman. During that time I also painted in a little shed out behind The Little Britt Inn and developed a larger body of work bringing back the use if strong dramatic lines from my comic style with a newly vibrant use of colour. I also continued with portrait commissions and other custom art projects. I also began to meet and learn from local traveling artists. It was then that I discovered a little river front cottage in the town of Wanup to become my next adventure. Here I am inspired by all the natural beauty of Northern Ontario in my own back yard.
March 2005 I held a one month exclusive art exhibition titled AColour in Motion@, at the Sudbury Arts Councils galley. The feed back was very inspiring. Shortly after that I participated in a collaborative art show in Britt Ontario with a group of established artists. I also volunteered as a stage painter for the local Northern Lights Festival while showing some work at Sudbury?s ?Ripe? restaurant.
My progress was temporarily slowed down due to a house fire that damaged my home, supplies, and studio space during the opening night of my March exhibition. I am know ready to jump back in full force and prepare to unleash my vibrantly passionate artistic style upon Ontario, then Canada and beyond.
I worked as Designer at the March Entertainment animation studio in down town Sudbury from November 2005 to October 2006. I created digitally drawn Props, costume changes for main characters and back grounds. I worked on shows such as ?Chilly Beach season 3 and ?Yam Roll? season 1.
My latest show was at Sudburys ?Artist?s on Elgin? gallery space which took place over the month of October 2006.
I have just returns from my latest sea voyage where I sold ink drawings of sailing ships. My Latest project is a story book that is still in the creation stage and will hopefully be published soon.
I have just launched my first Art website and plan set up to sell prints in the near future.

Will this site let you create paragraphs in your bio? It looks like an interesting read, but the lack of line breaks is hard to get past. :-(
