How has she done this, you may ask? She seems much like you and me - a low income, disabled person, who for the most part, stays at home. You may be thinking, "Well that doesn't sound very inspirational." But you are wrong! Our Knitting Lady takes yarn and fabric, and with loving tenderness, she fashions these raw materials into handmade treasures which are then presented to very deserving people such as Homeless Families, Victims of Domestic Violence, Premature Babies, Low Income Families, and also to patients in Hospitals and Nursing Homes. |

Money for Living Expenses for Marie & Her Family
Marie is a very sweet, loving person. If you've been here a while, you are probably familiar with her. She's a very good, caring, supportive RHF member, but she recently had to move back home to the Philippines, where her parents are tenant farmers who live in a small place without electricity or running water. Marie has children there, and she is looking for work. Life is very difficult for Marie and her family. She had been trying to help out her family by working overseas, but her Visa ran out, so she had to go back home in May. It takes her several hours to get to a place where she can use the internet, and she does not have a vehicle. I know many of us here on RHF are very needy, but this is a family who cannot afford running water or electricity, and is miles away from the nearest city. Marie is losing hope, and I'm running this wish for her to help restore her faith in humanity. $$ For Food, Utilities, & Living Expenses for Bandit's Angel
Bandit's Angel (Dee) is disabled, on SSI, and is struggling to survive. She has a HUGE bill ($2,813) from when Bandit (her companion kitty) was in the hospital, and she can't pay it. In order to make payments on that bill, she is doing without food, toiletries, and other necessities. She stays inside all the time because she has to use her gas to get to her medical appointments. The stress of this bill is exacerbating all of Dee's medical conditions, which means she gets sicker and sicker every day she has to worry about this bill. Dee is despair about her situation, because she feels trapped with this bill hanging over her head, and her everyday existence is very depressing. An Electric Tea Kettle for a Friend!!
I want to get this kettle for a friend because she doesn't have one. Her stovetop doesn't work properly, meaning she can't use a stovetop kettle. I have one similar to this, and I love it, use it all the time, and would like to give my friend this same opportunity. I jacked up the price a little so I could also pickher up some nice tea. |

Grandmother In Desperate Need of Assistance with Utilities!!
This wish is for KelsAngels. She has tried every resource she is aware of, both local and online, to obtain assistance with their Electric bill, to no avail. Her husband is out of work, and is actively seeking employment. This bill has been accruing, and they have received NO ASSISTANCE. Kelly and her hubby are raising their grandchildren, who were abandoned by their mother. Kelly mentioned she had heard that the electricity cannot be disconnected if a baby under 12 months lives in the house and welfare and food stamps are provided. An Electric Teakettle for Dee Dee
Dee Dee has a LOT on her plate right now. She is on disability and is fighting cancer, supporting friends and family members, and maintaining a marriage. On top of that, her stove and oven don't work. I think life is difficult enough when things at home work smoothly. Obviously Dee Dee has other priorities, which is great, but I would like to be able to give her an electric kettle so she can relax with hot drinks when things get to be a bit much. I've taught stress management quite a bit, and one of the things I emphasize to clients is self-nurturing behaviors. Dee Dee seems to have many positive attributes that help keep her going, but as her friend, it's hard to stand by and not doing anything to make her life better. This wish is my little attempt to improve her quality of life in my own way. Before you cast your vote, please consider how much of a positive difference something so small as an electrical kettle could make in Dee Dee's quality of life. Thanks! |

Granted -An Oster Black 6 slice Toaster Oven/Broiler/Baker!!
This wish was granted by jcjiii. I'm putting this in the nice category because it's pretty much a need. My current toaster oven broke down, and I don't have an oven where I'm staying, so this would greatly enhance the type of meals I could prepare. For those who don't know me, my situation is on my bio, but here's a short summary. I'm an injured worker fighting the system, with no income since last December. I was rear-ended by an 18-wheeler on my way to a client's home back in June 05, and am fighting to get the treatment I need and to have them reinstate my pay, as well as reinstating my pharmacy benefits. I was evicted from my home of 9 years due to lack of income, so I had to move, and am now in a place without an oven or tub. It's been a rough road, but I'm coping with the help of family and my wonderful friends, both in real life, and also the extra special ones I've met online. Granted by Me! Silicone Ice Cube Trays!!!
My new place doesn't have an ice maker. I have a really hard time getting the ice cubes out of the standard ice trays I bought. For one, I don't have the strength in my hands and wrists to twist the trays, and for 2, the twisting motion hurts my hands and wrists. If you watch the video, that's about how difficult it is for me to make ice cubes! I'd like to replace the ice cube trays I have with silicone trays because they're much more flexible and will be easier for me to handle and get the cubes out of. I found some really pretty ones I would like to get, and I can get several of them for the $30.00, and use the extras for when I make desserts like Vietnamese jello! Thanks for reading my wish! |

Update, this wish is being fulfilled by Hugs Monster! Thanks to her, Lela will have her snuggly sleeping partner! The Happy Cooker/Justacaregiver (Lela) has been sleeping with Walmart, her stuffed bear, for quite a while, and it appears she's worn him out :(. Since we (all of Lela's friends) are flat broke, I'm asking for your votes so I can get her a replacement snuggle partner. Kelly is the sweetest person, and she and her family have been going through some tough times. Her hubby was unemployed for quite a while, and just finally got a job, but they are really behind and can't get caught up. In addition to having their own teens at home, Kelly & Jimmy are raising 2 of their grandbabies due to some issues with their daughter. They live in New York, and the weather is getting colder. Let's get them some help to get their electric and phone reconnected. This video is shot in Kentucky and is about the struggle to survive on low wages. Peace & Justice For The Family of Deanna Cremin
In 1995, something horrible happened in my hometown. From Kathy Cremin's Blog on MySpace: I don't quite know how to start what I want to be said here. But I am going to try. Over 12 years ago, I had a happy little family. I had a good job. My children by all aspects were happy, well adjusted kids growing up where their parents grew up, in Somerville, Massachusetts. Although I had the regular concerns any parent of active teenagers does, murder was not remotely in my thoughts. My concerns lied in their personal and emotional health. Their education, and their drug awareness. Their social activities and personal friendships did not raise any red flags for what happened. March 30, 1995 is a day that I dread to remember. But I can relive it several times a day second for second. My beautiful daughter had been strangled to death and I did not know what to do. I had no idea how to handle this and live at the same time. There is no relief to this grief. I live with it. Her dad lives with it. My daughter and my two sons live with it. I think it is our love for one another that helps us to move on in our lives. When I look at my children and I appreciate so very much, how very proud I am of them. How very much I love each one of them. How I wish I could do away with all the evil in this world so it won't come near them ever again, it is a very scary and strange feeling. Because no matter what,I am always afraid something bad will happen. When things are at their best,that fear is always ever looming over. Yet, I can't let it defeat my, or anyone in my family's dreams, endeavors, and pursuits for success and happiness... I almost lost everything with meaning after Deanna was murdered. And I would have if I had continued to let grief control my life. I chose to let the love inside and surrounding me be my guide. I am so grateful to have what I have. Granted by Me!! New Salt & Pepper Mills
I have problems with my hands due to nerve damange, and often drop things. This week, I dropped and broke both my salt and pepper shakers. I use sea salt, and like to have both a salt mill and pepper mill. I could really use a new set, and found one I like (see pic). I'm still struggling to get back on my feet after being off work for 2.5 yrs following a serious car accident. I'm back to work part-time and need a cell phone for my job. I have the cheapest plan I could find, which is Net-10, at 10c a minute. I am very conservative with my minutes, but just can't afford to buy a top-up card, which costs $60. I need this phone to communicate with the agency I contract with, as well as with my clients and their CPS caseworkers. This is a one-time need. My hours at work should be increasing soon. I recently got both Cervical and Lumbar Epidural Steroid Injections, and I am hoping they enable me to be a little more productive. She isn't around much anymore because she needs computer "stuff" so she can fix up the computers she has so she won't have to share the one working computer with her teenagers and husband. A High Gain WiFi Booster/Extender Antenna for KelsAngels
Why is this wish greedy? Because it's for ME, more than Kelly (KelsAngels). She's a great friend and a great GoNer, but most of the new members don't even know her because she's been gone so long. I miss talking to my buddy. She lost her electric for many months, so couldn't be online, then she ended up moving in with friends. She's living in their basement, and has a hard time connecting to the internet. I sent her an antenna a while ago, but it's not strong enough to reach the connection, so she needs a high gain booster/extender antenna. A PUR Filter & Some Tupperware (Hurricane Ike Related)
I stayed in my home during Hurricane Ike, but evacuated after, due to no utilities, and no groceries/gas in the region following the storm. People were acting really crazy after the storm, driving up on curbs, sidewalks, on medians, and cutting people off, driving right through the flashing red lights, etc. The majority of the traffic signals in my area are still not working, over 2.5 weeks after Ike hit. 11% still do not have utilities. Trash has not been collected in over 3 weeks, and debris has not been picked up either. My bedroom ceiling leaked all over the bedroom floor and ruined my rugs. I haven't even had the time or energy yet to move furniture to check for mold. Other than that and the problems with the fridge/freezer, I mostly had limbs/leaves all over the place, and the gate next to mine, as well as the fence between this place and the neighbor's house are down. I did lose some of my aquarium fish, but 2 were still alive, over 2 weeks after the hurricane hit, which is a miracle. The kitties and I are fine, other than Asthma/Sinus flareups due to having to use bleach to clean the fridge/freezer. Thankfully, Dee Dee (a member here) hooked me up with a friend of hers, so we had a safe place to stay while we were evacuated. |

LuAnn hasn't been around in a few months, because they have lost their internet. The internet is the least of their problems, though, and they could really use a hand up. I don't know her PayPal address, nor would that do any good, because she is not able to be online at all. She is recovering from an injury, and is currently undergoing phsycial therapy to help her be able to walk without her crutches/cane. |
