a Bible for BlessedOne333
I have been reading on the forums that she is a Christian women and that she is going though a difficult phase in her life right now. So I think it would be nice to reaffirm her faith and send her the money to prchase a new Bible of her choice so that she can read it to gain strength for the challenges she faces in her life. If this wish wins I will have RHF send her the check so she can then purchase a new copy. |
a Great School Year for heading back to school
Hope this year is a productive and great learning experience for all heading back to classes. |
food for my high horse
This is for participation points only so that my stars count for more or less points. Having been accused of being on a high horse I figured it must be pretty hungry by now and this way I can feed it even better than I already do. Have fun downvoting or whatever on this wish. |
A public Service
This public service is being offered for those people who have complained that I have no wishes so they can not downvote them because I choose to use the 1-5 scale and everyone knows that some people feel that every wish equals 5 stars. Those people have been so upset that I have denied them the right to retaliate and downvote a wish of mine that I thought I should be really nice and give them a way to release thier built up vile and frustration. This way they can be nicer to those around them as they will have been able to release thier anger over someone actually downvoting thier wish. So this wish will accomplish two things I will get particiaption points so that my stars are worth more or less the next time I vote and those peoples families should be happy as their loved one has a place to vent rather than to them. |

Twinkies
There are 17 Hostess bakeries across the countries cranking out 500 million Twinkies every year. It takes 40,000 miles of plastic wrap a year to package them. At 150 Calorie a piece, all those Twinkies have the energy equivalent to nearly 51,500 barrels of crude oil. |

Rubiks Cube
Rubik's Cube has 43,252,003,274,489,856,000 color configurations and only one solution. Ideal Toy Company originally wanted to name it "The Gordian Knot." The ultimate 1981 collector's item was a Rubik's Cube showing Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer. One of the youngest Cube solvers is a seven year old who doesn't even know how he does it ... and he does it often. |
Cotton Candy
Cotton CandyCotton candy, or ?fairy floss? as it once was called, is a popular sweet found at amusement parks and festivals. The only ingredient is sugar. Although several people have claimed to discover cotton candy, the first machine was patented in 1899 by Wharton and Morrison. The machines used centrifugal force to spin and weave sugar through tiny holes creating threads. These machines were unreliable and in 1949, Gold Medal Products produced a machine that transformed the cotton candy industry due to its reliability. In America, National Cotton Candy Day is December 7. In making cotton candy, sugar is melted, spun in a liquid state and pulled through tiny holes where it cools and becomes a solid again. The threads are then wound around a stick |

?It is easy to love the people far away. It is not always easy to love those close to us. Titanium Spork so I can be a Hero
Every mythic hero normally has an equally mythic weapon. Zeus had his thunderbolts. Thor had his hammer, Mjolnir. King Arthur had his Excalibur. Frodo and Bilbo had their Sting. Rhydderch Hael had his Dyrnwyn. King Kong had his bananas?you get the idea. It's time for you to join the ranks of the heroes and heroines of lore as you wield your own legendary weapon in your battle against a very powerful foe: hunger. |

"A cultivated style would be like a mask. mask. Everybody knows it's a mask, and sooner or later you must show yourself -- or at least, you show yourself as someone who could not afford to show himself, and so created something to hide behind. You do not create a style. You work, and develop yourself; your style is an emanation from your own being.? |

A thought for the week
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot help small men by tearing down big men. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot lift the wage-earner by pulling down the wage-payer. You cannot help the poor man by destroying the rich. You cannot keep out of trouble by spending more than your income. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot establish security on borrowed money. You cannot build character and courage by taking away men's initiative and independence. You cannot help men permanently by doing for them what they could and should do for themselves. -- William Boetcker |

ARR Mates We Want to Captain Our Own Ship &Sail for Treasure
Our son has long held dreams of being a pirate. He is good at finding things his siblings have lost esp. as he is usually the one who hid them in the first place! He will soon be 9 years old and we want to give him his wish to be a pirate for the day. There is a location in Cape Cod where we will be visiting this summer that offers pirate ship parties. If we win this wish his day will start off with a breakfast worthy of a pirate captain and GROG for the rest of us, then down to the docks to impress a crew of pirates and taking the boat out at full sail. Perhaps we will let him make me walk the plank too. We will follow the treasure map and hopefully not have to fire the canons on board to keep other scurvy pirates away! After hoisting in the treasure and keeping the captains share for himself we will make our way back to land and let our pirate dictate the rest of the day perhaps laying on the beach, swimming, or shopping the little shops hunting more treasure. [ link ] We want to rent the whole boat to host a private party as with his Autism he has problems with large groups of people. We could just do the ticket price of $21.00 a head but the extra 100.00 would ensure we could purchase the remaining seats beyond the 10 it would take just for our family ensuring him a better experience. He is most comfortable around family and although he is selectivly mute when comfortable and there are no strangers around he can relax more and have fun. Please help him have a day to remember. We will then top off the night with his favorite meal then tuck him into bed with his stuffed bird and let him dream of the day he can recapture the ship! I know this is not a need but it is something fu n he would love to do and renting the whole boat for a private party is just the thing a greedy pirate would do more Booty for himself that way! |

A thought for the Week
Normal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for - in order to get to the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car, and the house you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it. |
The Grey Angel Tree Project
The community here has decided this year to do a Grey Angel Tree to focus our gift giving over the holidays on an often forgotten age group. Local help can be strained trying to help young families and children and often can not then meet the needs of our vulnerable senior population. Look for the Grey Angel Thread in the forums for more info and how to nominate a member. |

100 yards of fabric for the Senior Quilters
I am making this greedy as it is not a need they will still find a way to make quilts even if it is as current from the clothing donated that is too damaged for reselling. Our senior center ladies have formed a quilting group to make quilts to donate to various causes like the Linus project, police, redcross, cancer patients, etc. They make baby/lap quilts and all materials are welcome. I would like to take the ladies out to buy 100 yards of the dollar table fabric or less of some of the fun prints that they can then turn into many many quilted hugs for others. Quilting is so much more than just sewing a blanket from scraps for many it is a way to connect and look out for each other. They form friendships, help one another out and connect in a positive way whiloe making an impact of a good kind on the local community. The quilts they make may not be the prettiest as they often have to resort to used clothing bags for fabrics but they are warm and like a hug when it is given to you in a hard time. Lets keep the old ladies productive, ward of depression, and help others all at the same time. |
Earbuds with an Ipod for Joann or else Bail money * Edited
Joann travels 4 hours a day on public transport and often is subjected to listening the kids music choices. She has been driven to the point of nearly ripping thier heads off and stomping the earbuds to get some peace. If she gets to that point we will need to bail her out instead. If this wish wins I will order her an ipod from the apple site have it engraved with her name and from gon so she can instead put her own earbuds in and choose some music (if any money is left I will get her an itunes card) that is more her taste. Lets make her 2-hour each way daily bus trip more relaxing. |
