The words to this song express exactly what I am feeling. I am asking for your prayers in getting us transferred back home. We have been back and forth with job transfers for over four years. I just want to be home. Home is Ohio.

My boyfriend and I miss the people who are most important in our lives...our families. He has a mother who is not in good health. I have a mom who is starting to have some dementia. My grandson and daughter are back home. I miss them all so much.

You can help make this wish come true simply by using your power of persuasion (prayer, positive thinking, whatever it may be) to get his employers to transfer us back to Ohio this spring or summer. (I didn't say fall or winter 'cause I don't want to be this far from home one minute longer than necessary.)

The $10.00 (should I win) will be used for the tolls we have to get through to go home!

This was a book that my teacher read to the class when I was in the second or third grade I believe. It really left an impression on me and it stays with me to this day. I would love to have this book so I can read it to my grandson when he gets a little bit older.

I can remember when my dad died 13 years ago. My mom wasted away to nothing. She lost so much weight we thought a good wind would blow her away. She was 65 then.

My mom hates to drive on the freeway. She would take the "back way" to visit my dad in the hospital. The 20-30 minute drive involved going through a crime ridden neighborhood that had shootings often. She drove this everyday for over 2 months all by herself. I lived an hour away and by the time I drove to her house, to the hospital, back to her house, then back to my house it was a 4-5 hour ordeal. As he got sicker I drove this everyday. Occasionally I would spend the night with her. When we drove the "back way" we stop and get fried okra. This is one of mom's favorite foods.

Mom would only eat at the VA when I was there. She said the other kids were trying to force her to eat. I would just ask her to go down to the kitchen with me but didn't suggest she eat anything. Usually not saying anything worked and she would eat a little bit. That was also the time we would talk. We shared a lot of conversations going back and forth to the kitchen.

Not knowing it would be the last day of my dad's life all of the family left except my mom. We knew he wasn't expected to live much longer but exhaustion was taking it's toll on all of us. I told mom I would stay with her but she insisted I go home and get some rest. After we left she finally drifted off to sleep. When she awoke dad had died. As far as we know he went peacefully in his sleep. I think he purposely waited 'til we were all gone.

Mom called me about an hour after dad died. This was about 3 a.m. She told me to wait until it was light out to come down. She was afraid for me to drive through the rough neighborhood at night. I, being almost as stubborn as my mom left immediately. The thought of my mom being there by herself with my dad's body was more than I could take.

On our way back home we were both in shock. Someone passed me on the wrong side of the highway. I then realized I was only going about 30 m.p.h. in a 55 m.p.h. zone. When we got home mom got out with her heavy purse. She must have had about $20.00 worth of change in it. We used to tease her that her purse was the only thing keeping her from blowing away. All of a sudden we heard people talking. We looked around and didn't see anyone. We looked at each other and asked where the noise was coming from. We both were quiet and listened more intently to see if we could figure it out. We remembered dad telling us if there was a way to contact us after he died he would certainly try. It had only been a few hours. Did dad have time to get everything sorted out in heaven and contact us already??? Mom then opened her purse and found the radio she had taken to dad. It must have jostled on as she got out of the car. She and I had the biggest laugh. We still talk about it sometimes. Even in sadness my mom and I find humor. Should my wish be granted I will take my mom out for some fried okra and talk about old memories.
