My husband and I fell in love 4 years ago after both having gone through painful divorces. We got married and started saving money for a home. We finally achieved that but before we could move in, something terrible happened.
In February my husband almost died from diverticulitis and severe peritonitis. He had emergency surgery to remove part of his colon, and at the age of 41 he wears a colostomy bag. He will be having another surgery in a couple of months to reconnect his colon but it will take him a while to fully heal. The surgeon who saved his life isn't in our insurance network, so all the money we saved for home improvements is going toward medical bills.
He had planned to buy more tools and lumber and build a porch and a carport, and get a new lawn mower and he wants a double recliner for the TV room. We had the money 2 months ago before the hospital stay.
I honestly don't know how much any of this will cost. I feel like we can do without it for a while, but he is so depressed about it all I thought I would take a chance and see what happens. Perhaps there is a man out there who understands what my husband is going through. Perhaps someone has some new colostomy supplies that aren't needed (that's very expensive stuff!); or maybe a good used riding lawnmower. I honestly do not know what to ask for that will make my husband feel better....except for prayer - I KNOW that works!

It's not for me - it's for my husband. He's had one operation and needs another one. We just moved into a new home and there's a lot things he wanted to do but isn't able to right now, due to medical bills and just not feeling up to it. See the other wish - it explains more!

I know this sounds greedy - but it's really needy. We both have good jobs and just moved into a new home that we had saved up for a long time. Right before we moved in, my husband had to have emergency surgery to removed part of his colon (diverticulitis). Insurance didn't pay it all, and he missed more work than he had vacation time and sick days, so all our savings went to medical bills.
His old riding lawn mower bit the dust, so now we have a big yard that he can't tend properly. We can't buy anything until after his next surgery (next month), so we're hoping someone may read this who might be able to help.
My husband is depressed enough about his condition, and looking out at the yard is driving him crazy. Anybody got a used riding mower they want to get rid of???
