I came accross this website out of no where, but I think it was some kind of fate. I will try and keep this short, while still telling the whole story.
My name is Claire, and I am 19 years old. When I was 16, my father lost his job, and was unemployed for close to a year, all the money I made from my part time job was given to help pay the mortgage. When I was 17, my parents relocated to North Carolina, because my dad finally found a job offer. I stayed here in Ohio, because I only had a few months left until I graduated from high school. So I took up a full time job, on top of high school, and got myself an apartment.
I managed to graduate high school, and did pretty well, because I was able to get a scholarship for our local community college. The scholarship pays for my tuition, but not my books. If you have even been in a college book store, you know that by no means are the books cheap. I have a job and I work really hard, but all my wages have been going towards making ends meet, and keeping my car functioning. I have been able to purchase all my books except the one for my math class which is $141 dollars. If I cant get the book, Im going to have to drop the class, which would be a waste of my scholarship money.
I'm a smart kid, and work really hard at my job and at school. It wouldn't be a wasted cause, I plan on doing well in the class. My parents haven't been able to to help fund my education at all, because they are trying to make ends meet down in North Carolina, and still paying two mortgages (house in NC & house in OH) because the house in Ohio isn't selling very quickly in todays market. This may be my last hope, I don'd want to be greedy, but I believe this is actually a need.
