Help me brighten the day of a few good men & women!!! I have received all of the items needed for this wish as donations ons from local businesses - but I need help with money to ship it all (not a small venture with as heavy as they are).
I have been planning for a few months to send a HUGE gift to my nephew's platoon (8 BIG packages - about $20 each for shipping)... which will include a BUNCH of the little things for everyone like snacks and toiletries - but also a few decorations for the holidays for everyone's tents (fun stuff like bright garland and ornaments).
This all started because my nephew is stationed in Iraq - and he has sent me many e-mails telling how sad it is that over half of the troops in his platoon never receive care packages or letters. All of our troops need to know that they DO have a family - and it's every one of US who are thankful for their efforts.
A friend of mine was a Sergeant in the Army - and he sent a list of little things troops are thankful for receiving - like sunscreen, deodorant, potato chips and crackers, flavored drink mixes, and magazines (all of which I have already received as noted above).
My husband and I budget every month to send a care package to my nephew - and we load it with extra stuff to share with those who don't receive anything - but realistically we can't get something into everyone's hands at his location.
