A plane ticket to take a vacation and visit a friend

As a single mom to 5 sons, some of whom have special needs, I don't get a break very often. Due to my boys needs I have not been able to work in a little over a year and therefore have very limited funds with which to budget.

Last year I was able to take a vacation to visit a very good friend of mine. This trip really refreshed me and enabled me to be a better mother to my boys when I returned home. It also gave me some time in person with my closest friend, who I talk to every day thanks to internet voice chat, but cannot visit as he lives on the other side of the continent.

I very much want to see him again, and to get away for a week while my children's father visits with them, to give me a chance to refresh, de-stress and give me he strength to continue to be the mother that my boys need me to be.

A Couple of Bras that Fit!

I am tired of wearing bras that don't fit! Ask any woman, this becomes really uncomfortable after awhile.

Unlike the enlightened folks over in the UK, those here in Canada do not consider any size above a DD cup to be "regular" and therefore, these sizes are not carried in "regular" stores. If I want to pay a normal price for a bra I have to get one that is slightly too small in the cup, or slightly large in the band , neither works very well. My "girls " want to be both comfortable and sexy. I have located a retailer in Canada that carries my size [ link ] which eliminates the issue of customs, duty and additional taxes from the need to order from the United States or overseas.Regular prices range from $65 to about $150 for a bra, plus shipping, which I cannot really afford.

Price listed is for two regular bras and one "Shock Absorber" sports bra plus taxes and shipping.

Please help me support my breasts in style and comfort!

We all know that the 80s was a great era, good music, good movies, fun cartoons. I have found a website that sells t-shirts and other merchandise related to the 80s and a few things non 80s related.

I have started a collection of t-shirts to match my movie and music collection. So far I have a flux capacitor shirt, a Goblin King Shirt, and an Edward Scissorhands shirt. There are a few hilarious ones on the site right now "SAVE FERRIS!"That would look really good modeled over top of those new bras that I am hoping to get. So anyway... what could be better than than a few comfy t-shirts reminiscent of my favourite movies?

a comfortable desk chair

a comfortable desk chair

  • Wish Points: 200.52

To put it shortly my chair is toast.

I had a very nice, comfortable, ergonomic desk chair. It was very old, and second hand. The ladies at the women's crisis center where I volunteer gave it to me when they replaced their office furniture. I loved in. Unfortunately, in the past few days the bolts started breaking. One at a time the heads of the bolts holding the chair to the base broke, Seeing as we are in the middle of a freak snow storm lasting days, I do not have a car, and all my boys were not in school due to the above two conditions, I had no way to run out to a hardware store to replace the bolts.

In the mean time I was just being careful about how I sat on the chair. My children however, are not so careful. This morning they started fighting over the computer and within seconds of starting to shove, and while I was making my way across the room to stop them, the third bolt snapped, and the boys fell with their full weight on the chair. The frame of the chair, and the spring bent and the upholstery tore much more than it was already torn.

In short, it is time to hold a funeral for my beloved chair and start looking for a replacement.

A night out for my Mom and Dad

Anyone who knows my parents knows that they deserve a little break. My mom is on RHF under the user name mightymom239, check out her profile. She has been going around voting and encouraging people and has yet to make one wish for herself.

For the past 31 years my parents have been caring for my 4 brothers, my 3 sisters and I. I have talked to several of my siblings about this and we all agree that the reason we have become the good people that we are, and the reason that the ones of us who have neurological, social and learning challenges have done so well is because of the support and teaching we got from our parents.

Even now, as an adult I still can count on my parents. I am a single mom with 5 boys, some of whom can be very challenging. There have been times that my parents have dropped important things just to come and help me out I think that they, more than many people , deserve a break... even more than I deserve my desk chair!

what I want to do is put together a little pampering kit, a few bath/massage products from Lush (for some reason even though they are strongly scented they don't seem to bother mom's allergies, a bottle of Dad's favorite wine, a gift certificate for dinner, a paid for reservation at a hotel that they would have to take Dad's bike on a bit of a road trip to get to, and an envelope with a bit of cash for gas money.

For the past 31 years, these two have been taking care of everyone but themselves. Help me to make their 32nd wedding anniversary this July special and all about them!

Papermate Mirado Classic Lead Pencils, #2 HB, Medium,

It seems that my 10 year old son absolutely CANNOT attend school at the moment unless he has a pencil that says USA Papermate Mirado HB/2 on the side of it in Gold lettering on a yellowish orange pencil.

No other pencil will do. After enduring a tantrum of epic proportions this morning I have decided that it is in the best interest of all in my home for me to procure a whole gross of these pencils (144 of them, in 12 12 packs.)

Just because I have dealt with the comments on other occasions, before they start I will state tha my son has a disability that causes him to be rather obsessive about certain things and it is good to pick my battles. These pencils are 2.50$ a pack. Very reasonable, and so, this is one of those times I would rather just make sure that I do not run out until he moves on to something else instead of choosing to make it a fight.

A Small Kelly Kettle

This is a wonderful little invention [ link ] that I would I would like to add to my slowly growing collection of hiking gear. I don't get out hiking very often now but as time goes on and my kids get older the opportunities will become more numerous.

This kettle is great for using in any area, the fire is enclosed so it works when there is a fire ban, and is also great for windy or wet weather because the flame is protected.

The best thing about this kettle, is that I would never again have to do without hot tea. No electricity? No problem! Wind? Rain? Snow? Fire ban? NO PROBLEM? I would still be able to make and enjoy a nice hot cup of tea. (or anything else that requires boiling water, but good tea is very important)

The price I have here is with shipping and taxes.

An ergonomic ball chair for my son

An ergonomic ball chair for my son

My son Austin has a very hard time sitting still. He regularly knocks over his chairs and has broken a few regular chairs. Today he is sitting on a exercise ball at a short table and though he is bouncing a bit he is staying at the table, not knocking things over and not making a huge mess. YAY!

The ball chair was something that was mentioned briefly in the past by his occupational therapist but we never got a chance to try one because he no longer qualifies for therapy... underserviced area with many kids who need it more than he does.

Anyway... I'm looking into ways to obtain one of these for him because it will be more stable than having him sit on the exersise ball alone and I thought that I might as well try a wish.

There is the link to the chair [ link ]

Coffee, like chocolate, is one of those things where quality makes a huge difference.

I would rather have a little bit of something amazing than a lot of something less tasty.

EDelong on this site recently gave me a sample of a kicking horse coffee medium roast blend. It was very tasty. (THANK YOU ELLEN!) so I checked out the web site with intent to order some. I decided though that it would be best to wait until I can order enough to really make it worth the shipping cost.

Oh, and if you vote me up and this wi wins, not only do I get good coffee but Ellen does too, you see, they have a referral program. 1lb of free coffee to the referrer after a new customer makes their first order.... so, if you want good coffee, from a fair trade source, based in Canada, check out [ link ] and tell them I sent you. Besides all that, wouldn't it be cool to have a bag of coffee on your shelf that says "kick ass" on it?

The butt print painting in the picture is not my work. It is by an artist named Stan Murmur, you can see more of his work here [ link ]

After viewing his work and having an interesting discussion regarding butt painting parties and beer in the unofficial RHF chat room, [ link ] I decided that this was a hobby that I just had to try. After all, what could be more fun than painting your own ass and sitting on canvass then making a monster out of the print? It's like what we did as kids in the snow, but with more permanent results and less chance of frost bite on the backside.

Photos of the results will be provided, along with a challenge to all those who read this to create your own butt/body print art and show it off here!

I do not have a car and walk several miles most days, sometimes with a stroller, and other times with a child on my back in a carrier, on all types of terrain. This summer I will be going on at least one overnight hike.

Due to the amount of walking that I do, combined with the fact that my feet need more support than the average (I should have custom orthodics but they are extremely expensive and with good quality shes I can get away without them. ) I tend to wear shoes and boots out very quickly. Well made shoes or boots have more support and of course last longer under the stress of the every day use I give them.

In the past I have gotten over a year of good pain free use out of a well made pair of hiking boots. This is compared to 2 months use out of my current pair, which are already falling apart,. The current ones cost me $60. Quality makes a huge difference in wear, and in the amount of pain I am in on a regular basis. I have determined that it is worth trying to find a way to buy some good boots that will properly support my feet and will not fall apart within 2 months.

Here is a link to the boots I am considering [ link ]

I think this would make a very nice summer gift. I've attached a video of a couple of kids having fun with a ripstick. The kids in the video are not my kids.

A new lease on life can be as simple as matching underwear

Why me?

Well, I have several reasons,

FIRST: my basement flooded last week and the contents of my laundry room has been destroyed. I'm fairly broke at the moment, and I am sure that I can find replacements for other things that I lost like some of the kids clothes, my jeans, sheets etc... at second hand stores and the clothing bank.... but I refuse to wear second hand underwear. That's just gross.

SECOND: Every woman needs some nice matching underthings. Sexy underclothes can boost confidence and make you feel more feminine even if no one sees them but you.

THIRD: One must always be prepared. I think that part of being prepared is to have a wardrobe well stocked with a variety of underwear (and other things of course) suited to any possible occasion, NAUGHTY or nice.

The quote that I used for my title came from this magnet [ link ]

A headset so my kids can call their Dad whenever they need

I know this doesn't seem at first glance to be a "nice" wish but I really think it is. ink it is.

My children use the headset to keep in touch with their father who lives at the other end of the province and I use it to stay in touch with family and friends.

Using headsets with my computer along with a program that I downloaded from [ link ] has really cut my long distance costs.

Having this service has allowed me the luxury of NEVER having to tell my children that I cannot afford to allow them to phone their Dad. I do not want to ever have to say no when a child tells me that they really want to talk to their daddy.

I know that there are cheaper headsets than the one that I have listed, but I have tried many over the course of the past 2 years, and this was he first one I have had that the mic lasted a whole 6 months. In the long run it is less expensive to buy a $50 headset every 6 months, than a 20 or 25$ one ever month and a half to 2 months.

The headset I am looking to purchase can be viewed here but I will be buying it through compuserve which sells it for a few $ less. Compuserve's web site does not currently have the headset details available for viewing. [ link ]

So anyway, even though in some ways this can be viewed as a naughty wish as it is for a "thing" I think making it possible for children to call their father whenever they feel the need is more nice than anything else.

Supplies to make chainmail jewelery

This is a hobby that I have enjoyed for a while. Unfortunatly I am very low in supplies lately due to some things getting thrown out the window into grass and other unfortunately incident resulting in rusted pliers and the loss of thousands of rings and beads.

Chainmail was originally used to make armour. The pattern shown in the video is the simplest of the European varieties. Once you get playing with chainmail in all of it's varieties, it is amazing what can be done. There are several online galleries showing the work of many chainmail artists. Here is one [ link ] and another [ link ] there are also some images on this site [ link ] which is one of the two where I have purchased supplies in the past.

Not only does this hobby allow me to practice my creativity, creating something beautiful, but in some cases it has allowed me to earn a bit of money, and also, surprisingly enough, since I started making chainmail, due to the strengthening effect on my hands I have had absolutely NO symptoms from my osteo-arthritis which for a couple of years up until that point had started to cause daily swelling and pain.

I want to get a new set of jewelery size pliers, and a selection of rings in 18guage and 20 guage stainless steel as well a enameled copper which is available in a wide variety of colours, and possibly some beads. I have not yet completed a project that used both chainmail and beadwork but I do have some ideas which I would like to turn into reality.

Yes, we have books... actually we have quite a few of books, but I am one of those people that believes that you can never have too many books. (as someone on this site has already found out...you know who you are!)

My children came home today with book order forms from Scholastic. When we order books from these forms the school gains as well. My boys came to me with a wish list and I'd really love to be able to say YES to them and order the books so that we can later enjoy them all together.

Their list includes the following books:

Beast Quest 1, 2, and 4 (we have 3)
The Divide Pack (a trilogy of fantasy novels by Elizabeth Kay)
Deep Snow by Robert Muncsh
The Magic School Bus chapter book boxed set
Dragonslayer's Academy Box set
Warriors (a reference book about the great warriors of history Spartans, Aztecs, etc...)
Santa's Pants are falling down and other silly songs for the season

Thanks for you votes and consideration of my wish.

Well, I just saw the other night that they now sell Kicking Horse coffee at the Shopper's Drug mart here in Timmins! I am nearly out of the bag of Pacific Pipeline that Ellen bought me. THANK YOU ELLEN! It was very good. Now I would like to try a dark roast that they have called "Kick Ass" For one thing, with a name like that it seems to be a must have item, and for another, this company sells really good coffee and best of all, it is FAIR TRADE. I can enjoy my coffee guilt free knowing that the workers involved in making it are being paid appropriately and it is CANADIAN like me. I will also need a coffee grinder because it is only sold in bags of whole beans.

It turns out that I will be able to make a trip out to Portland Oregon this February. Zachary's mommy lives in Portland and I was not able to meet up with her last time I was out there. ZM and I met on a forum before either of us found this site and I think it would be really cool to meet her in person.

The other day we were chatting and she mentioned a restaurant that she likes and has not treated herself to in something like 4 years. She told me that the food is great and the desserts are to die for. Check this place out right here [ link ] Anyway, I would love you all to help me to be able to be able to treat her to dinner at this place that she loves.

That picture of food is from their web site. Looks good doesn't it?

Socks

Socks

  • Wish Points: 157.41

I want socks

nice comfortable, perfect fitting socks.

I do a lot of walking, and I honestly didn't realise what a difference good socks make until I bought some for going hiking in the summer.

These socks are made for heavy duty hiking/walking. When it is cold they keep your feet warm and when it is warm they breathe enough that your feet do not get all wet and sweaty. They are a bit tighter around the arch, which kind of cradles the foot, provides a bit of support and makes sure that they do not slip around. They are a bit looser around the toes, but not so loose as to make for extra fabric to slip around, or bunch up.

They have padding on the bottom, thicker at the ball and hell where it is needed and a bit of padding at the top of the foot where the laces of the hiking boots are to protect.

At one point I wore a pair for about 5 days and it didn't get stinky (I know that is still gross.) I bought them at the beginning of August, have worn them almost exclusively (I bought 5 pairs) and the ones that I have still look nearly new.

The problem is that my dryer finds them to be tasty and delicious and one by one they have been disappearing until now all I can find is one tan and one blue!

This will not do. It means that I have to wear normal socks and my poor spoiled feet are becoming quite angry with me. At times I cannot leave my house because no matter how much I fight with them they refuse to be shoved into rough, slippy socks with uncomfortable seams. socks that become soggy when my feet get too hot and don't keep my feet as warm as they need to be when it is 30 below zero.

Please help me appease my angry, spoiled, naughty greedy feet by helping me to provide them with the socks that they love! Aspies on the site, you understand how important comfy socks are right?

The afore described socks may be viewed here [ link ] or here [ link ]

the $60 would cover the cost of 6 pairs of socks + shipping.

Thank You for your consideration of my plight

It seems that a group of velociraptors has managed to survive the great extinction and hide over the millenia, biding their time until the world was once again ripe for the picking.

The time is approaching quickly when we will have to defend ourselves against this menace. They have been sending scouts in to our homes to spy and learn our weaknesses, defense capabilities and plans for attack. The proof is in the picture.

I have started building my army. My warriors must be created and trained in ancient arts used the last time humans faces such a threat. I have, at this time, only two creatures capable of this charge.

This is serious. The fate of the world depends on it. Sceptical? Go rent Jurassic Park and see what these saurian masterminds are capable of and then come and vote a 5 on this wish.

I need socks and stuffing ASAP or civilisation as we know it is doomed.

Yarn to make a heavy blanket, so that I can sleep

Apparently some people are working together to grant this wish for me. If you want to help check out Darlinglilred's thread here. [ link ]

I have been having trouble sleeping lately, and part of the reason is that my blankets are not heavy enough.

When I was a kid I had a heavy quilt from my grandmother and I remember how it felt to have that dropped over me and pressing down on me while I slept. Since then, there have been a few times that I have had the chance to sleep places where I have had access to a really heavy blanket or blankets and those nights I have slept very well.

I mentioned this once to my son's occupational therapist and she told me that this is not surprising as many autistic people need the pressure from heavy blankets in order to sleep. In fact, she will often prescribe weighted blankets to autistic people who have sleep issues. These weighted blankets are usually quite expensive (in the range of $220 or more for a queen sized one) [ link ]

I recently finished making and shipping out a queen sized knit blanket to a friend of mine. It's finished weight was just under 12 lbs. This is less than a prescription weighted blanket would be but it was heavy enough that working on it and having it sit in my lap while I finished it was very very relaxing. I think that if I were able to make myself one, it would help me be able to sleep much better. (photo is not the blanket that I made, I did not take a picture of that one)

This $100 would cover more than half of the costs of making a blanket like the one I made for my friend, for myself, as long as I found a great deal on yarn like I did the last time. I am looking forward to finally being able to get a good night's sleep.

It has come to my attention that many here in the forest believe that there is nothing that they personally can do to help us in our mission to save the earth from the saurian invaders and to make this universe, starting with our own earth, into a haven for peaceful intelligent beings.

This defeatist attitude is certain to be delighting not only the Velociraptors who are based out in Alberta, but their saurian allies of every sort, including the Gorn commander who was spotted right here in our own GON community.

People of GON, there is something you can do!

Your stars can help to ensure that our troops have the equipment and training that they need in order to be successful.

Recently I have been able to employ two more warriors. These two specially trained operatives are experienced, not only in covert operations in general, but also in fighting the saurians themselves. Upon their arrival at our northern Ontario stronghold, these new recruits took it upon themselves to look over the current equipment inventory. They were quite concerned to discover our total lack of adequate, comfortable, and inconspicuous transportation.

They have requested permission to place an order for a simple black transportation system, and have suggested the model that can be viewed here [ link ]
This would allow the entire army to travel to any place in the world disguised as carry on luggage. In addition the system has a detachable pod perfect for solo missions. It's comfortable straps make it appealing to humans who might be temporarily employed at various stages in the mission as pack animals.

GON, the fate of the earth, and possibly of the entire universe is in your hands. Without appropriate equipment, even the best trained and most experienced of soldiers will fail. Trust me, you do not want to find out what life is like as a human enslaved on a Gorn governed planet

Please vote in support of the troups because remember, their success means your continued freedom!

Body Sox!

Today we went to a family fun day for families with children who have autism. Among the various activities set up for the children was a station with three of these body sox.

Two of my boys ( and one of my sisters) spend significant time in them. One of my boys spend most of the few hours we were there in one and wore it around to do other activities. Ran back and forth in the gym flapping in it and making a lot of noises. This was my son who does NOT have a diagnosis but is awaiting a full psychological evaluation and who worries obsessively about appearing to be normal.

He said to me that the body sox made his body feel good. It also seemed that in it, he was more able to just be himself while he was inside it. In addition, he did NOT experience a meltdown when we got home which has been a regular occurrence lately after being somewhere in public or around a lot of people.

I would love to be able to get a few of these but to begin with , I think it would be great to have one available to share until I could afford to get a couple more to use at home as a stress releiver, sensory aid, and just for fun. The price listed is for one large sized one plus shipping to Canada.

It has been brought to my attention this [ link ] is exactly what is missing on my desk.

I mean, seriously, what says "high class" more than a little man with a magnetic butt sitting on a toilet, holding a roll of tape and gagged with a giant pen?

If I had this, then next time someone asked me if I had a paper clip I could offer to let them pick their own off of my man's magnetic ass. It doesn't get better than that.

Now, to answer the serious questions...

1. Yes, I am the woman who made the wish for paint for butt print art

2. No, I do not have a freakish obsession with butt

3. 25$ because they do not ship to Canada so I would have to have it shipped to an American friend and paypal them to ship it to me here in Canada.

Arrr mateys

I be needin' a new costume.

I've been thinking that this was the case for a while now, I've modified the same dress multiple times to fit different events and it is time for something new. This September I might have the opportunity to attend this pirate festival [ link ] and even if I can't get to the festival, I will need a costume for Halloween and other events. The Skirt and Shirt that I will need for the costume will be very simple to make. The great this about this piece [ link ] is that it can be used in a few different costumes over time. One year a pirate, the next a cat woman for example.

I thankeefer helpin' to make me into the buxom piratey wench I want to be.

In September I will likely be attending this pirate festival [ link ] and I will need appropriate clothing. The blouse and pants I need will be fairly simple to make but a corset or waist cincher is much more complicated a project. I have no experience making such a piece and will likely not have the time seeing as I have several other projects on the go at the moment.

This one, is reasonably priced for what it is and looks like something a fearsome pirate might wear. [ link ] It even has rings on the side that I could use to carry my set of shakles in case I come upon a promising looking slave to train to swab my decks.

Most of you know me by now, I'm a single mom to 5 sons who has not been able to work due to caring for their special needs. I do not have a car, or a driver's licence and so have to walk everywhere I need to go. I usually end up walking at least 1 mile or 2 every day and sometimes a lot more. I often have my 3 year old on my shoulders if we are in a hurry or once he gets tired, because one of my strollers is broken, and the other was stolen.

My feet need to be cared for so that I can keep doing what my boys need me to do. I have fallen arches and I pronate. I cannot afford custom orthodics which I should be wearing and which cost upwards of $500 but I have found that a good pair of hiking boots provides enough support that my feet, knees, and back do not end up in constant pain.

My old pair of boots is nearly a year old (which is amazing, lesser shoes tend to last me a couple of months at the most before they are walked to shreads!) and is starting to lose support, and the liner on the inside is tearing. This means that I am starting to get blisters and my knees and back are in pain constantly. The only remedy is new shoes. I'd like to go with the same brand that lasted a year because even though they are expensive (approx. $200) they are much less than orthodics, and about the same as buying cheaper shoes which do not even provide the support I need every 2-3 months (40$ X 5 in a year - $200)

This wish would cover half the cost and that would be very very helpful since I have run into some unexpected expenses lately due to my son (who has autism) going through a rather destructive phase.

Thank you for the time you have spend reading this and for your support.

In 2 months I will be attending a pirate festival and will hopefully be meeting one of the other members of this site there.

I have been wishing for a waist cincher but have decided to try my hand at making one, with help from my mom. there will be pictures!

One thing I cannot make are boots. I have been watching (and will continue to watch) the local value village and garage sales and thrift shops for a reasonable pair of boots but so far I have not found anything that isn't lined... fits around my calf... and has a piratey look to them.

These boots that I found on ebay are impressive looking and do not have a heel that will make me fall all over myself!

I was GOING to wish for a desk chair to replace the one that got fighting tresspasser blood all over it in last night's break in at my house, but THEN I found out that [ link ] has 14 pages of monkey themed items, each page reaching a new level of monkey related ridiculousness.

boxes of 12 neon coloured monkey baseball caps WITH TAILS! monkey pillow making craft kits, monkey whistles, monkey window clingers, inflatable monkeys, monkey temporary tattoos, monkey games, bean bag monkeys, monkey key chains, monkey candy, monkey head shaped cups with straws sticking out the tops (mmmmm BRAAAAAAAAIIIIINNNNNNSSSSS!)

14 pages of silly monkey heaven!

well, I knew that a greedy monkey lover like me couldn't wish for a desk chair when there was all of that amazing monkey loot to be had, so I decided to wish for as many monkey related items as the 100$ will buy me. (I might even share some with Dad!)

If you have suggestions on which items I should go for, or you think would be the best use of my $$$ feel free to share, but I won't guarantee that I will follow your advice.

While away at the pirate festival I got some henna done by an artist who was set up there. It was not a stencil but an original piece done freehand. I paid her and told her where I wanted it and that the design was her choice.

Well... the picture there shows what she did, and I love it. I will miss it when it is gone as I am getting used to it being there. I have been thinking about going to see the artist who did the tattoo on my back and having it made permanent, however, after the trip, and with 2 birthdays coming up next month I just can't

Wouldn't you like to help me make sure this beautiful piece of one of a kind art doesn't just fade away?

meet some more people (hopefully including a couple more from GON), and most importantly to visit my best friend once he moves back to his hometown and to meet his family for the first time.

As a single mother to a large family, my time away is the only time I really have to just be me. Although I have many friends online, I do not have any here in my hometown. Getting away and visiting in places where I am liked and accepted, and where I can just be myself instead of being "mom" helps me to be the best mom I can be.

That picture is me watching my friend sing. See how happy and relaxed I am? I hope that I can see him again soon.

As for now, a return ticket to Los Angeles will cost me $1157. I have 240$ in a jar toward the cost, so I still have a ways to go in order to make this possible. In addition to making this wish, I am making a variety of crafts to sell and am looking for odd jobs that I can do in my town.

Wish me luck!

It is always fun see new things and new places, to meet new people and to spend time with old friends.

This year is the first year that my children's father is planning to take them for Christmas. When we separated, we agreed that he would have them every second year for the holiday, but until now he has not had an appropriate house. The children are looking forward to this but I would rather not spend Christmas alone. I talked to my best friend about this and he invited me to spend it with him and his family in Los Angeles.

He has just moved back there, and has been going through a lot in his life, and I think it would be good if I could see him again soon.

He's been talking to me about all of the things I will see if I get out there... it will all be new to me, desert, tumbleweeds (he mentioned that his dad was moving one and realised that I had only ever seen one in cartoons), a bigger city than I have ever seen before, museums, Disneyland (I wanted to see that when I was a kid but never thought I'd have the chance) I'll get to meet his family and his dog which will be nice as well.

Also, if I get to go to California, I may get the chance to meet some more GON members, like Blessed, and rebelwithkidz.

Yes I am still wishing for help toward my goal of spending Christmas in Los Angeles with my best friend.

I have talked about a few things I am looking forward to about this idea, and it is time to add one more... the ocean... I have seen the ocean from the ground once. It was while I was visiting Vancouver BC, standing right outside of Stanley Park. I did not get to stay there long, but I loved the way the wind felt and smelled coming in off the water. I loved the sound of the waves as well. Each time I have flown out to Portland I have seen the ocean from the plane and have been wanting to see it again.

My friend, when talking about what I will see when I visit told me to google the Pacific Coast Highway and I found this beautiful photo.

Please, leave your stars to help me see the ocean again, visit my best friend and meet his family for the first time and meet some other online friends (possibly 2 from here on GON) for the first time as well.

Thank You all for you support.

Yeah, it's me again... I'm still trying to get to Los Angeles for Christmas.

This means a lot to me for many reasons.

I'd like to see a new place, and new things.

I'd like to meet some new people including my best friend's family, and some online friends, including, possibly Blessed and Rebelwithkidz from here.

Most of all, I'd like to be able to spend a week with my best friend. I have been lucky enough to see him more this year than others, but this trip will be my last until the end of next summer (or early fall) when hopefully he will join Peter and Ellen and I on an epic hike... but that is a long way off.

I don't have any close friends here in my town. Somehow, I have to make this happen. Your stars can help.

with my best friend.

This Christmas my children will be with their father for Christmas for the first time since my marriage ended. I think it will be good for them, but I will be alone.

For Christmas this year I want to be able to give my best friend a hug. I miss him. He lives 2751.14 miles away (according to mapquest) in Los Angeles, California.

I have never been to California (or anywhere that far south) and so it would be a real adventure to see a new place, that is completely different from anywhere I have been yet, in addition to riding some huge roller coasters, going to a museum, riding a horse, and possibly seeing the rocky horror picture show.

On this trip, I might get a chance to meet several other online friends including Rebelwithkidz and Blessed who are members here, as well as my friend's family, who I have not yet met.

The photo is me during a hike we took on my last trip (which was to Portland, OR)

These chances to escape, to spend time with friends, and to relax and just be me instead of being "mom" are really what keep me going when things get tough. This may be greedy, but it means a lot to me and I appreciate your support.

No... not a suit case... a FROOT CASE (I know fruit is not spelled that way but it is a brand name...)

As you all know I have an army of monkeys and what do monkeys eat? well some of them anyway... fruit, and lots of it.

I was looking in my dad's catalogue today and saw a product that made me laugh. I banana protector for travelling with your favourite banana. It is vented for freshness and ensures that never again will you have to scrape a squashed banana out of the bottom of your monkey's mission pack.

So, I got on line and searched for "banana protector" and lo and behold [ link ] came up, and not only do they sett sets of 5 banana guards but they also sell sets of froot cases! Froot cases are just like banana guards but they protect your various round but still squishable fruits.

My monkeys would love a set of fruit and banana cases. $29.99 for each set plus tax and shipping.

Years later TforThomas and I still laugh at our first attempt to cook Thanksgiving Dinner together. I hope it will make you laugh too... but somehow I think it will always be funnier to those of us who were there.

KenH and Mightymom239 had to go out. I forget where they had to go, but we were left in charge of preparing the dinner. Before they left Mom went through a list of the things we were to do and at what times they needed to be done. Mom specifically told us to get everything ready, but NOT to cut the turkey. Dad, as was tradition, would carve the turkey, at the table after we had all said grace.

We got the table ready, set out some candles, cooked and mashed the potatoes, prepared sweet potatoes, stuffed and roasted the turkey.... OOOPS!!! THE TURKEY!!!

We had forgotten about it in the oven, and it was slightly overdone. We pulled it out, a little it worried, but a quick test showed that the meat was not to dry *PHEW* We were saved.

Thom brought the turkey to the table, while I got a bowl and a spoon to scoop the stuffing out into. As I scooped deeper into the large turkey, Thom joked about being careful not to be like Mr. Bean and get stuck in there. We laughed a bit... but then it happened. The spoon got stuck on a bone deep in the turkey. I looked in and couldn't see where it was stuck so I just gave it a a hard pull.

The spoon came out.... along with the whole backbone and ribcage of the bird leaving a flattened pile of slightly overdone meat on the serving platter. I looked at Thom, and he looked at me both in horrified silence. We had been told NOT to carve the turkey. It was supposed to be set up and looking beautifully roasted right in front of Dad's seat at the table.

Just then, before we could decide what to do, we saw the tail lights of the car backing into the driveway through the front window. Mom and Dad were home. The walked in to see the two of us laughing as hard as we could (nerves) and trying to SHOVE THE SKELETON BACK INTO THE TURKEY.

LMAO... trust me... there is no way to replace the ribcage in a flattened, deboned, bird.

It all turned out OK. Dad served the meat and it tasted wonderful despite it's being so well done that it just slid right off the bones.

As humans come closer and closer to developing technology that will bring us into contact with denizens of other worlds, including other intelligent and more advanced races, it is becoming even more essential that we ready ourselves and inform ourselves to the best of our ability as to what is out there in the universe.

It has come to my attention that many of the "great works of science fiction" that have been written in the last century have not been strictly fiction as they have been sold as and as they have seemed. As it turns out, these tales are adapted truth... tales from other worlds and other races... true tales of cultures beyond our earth that have been adapted by talented writers into terms and images that will be acceptable to the modern human mind. The authors of these books, an elite group of humans, were chosen for their knowledge of science, their open minds, and their writing ability by a committee of representatives of a variety of planets who are anticipating our arrival in space.

The committee was formed after millenia of research and experience showed that the introduction of stories from other planets into a world culture's own fiction and mythology made a difference in their ability to deal peacefully with aliens when official first contact is made. Most beings are much more able to accept aliens, when those aliens "seem familiar somehow" than when they are completely beyond anything that they have ever heard or dreamed of. Over the years, many bits of real knowledge about alien cultures and technology have been written in these books that we thought of as fiction. It is my duty as a representative of humanity to inform myself before I next come face to face with members of an alien race.

Please vote for me, so that I can search the local second hand book store, and sales on line for as many of those essential volumes of literature as I can. I have a long trip by plane coming up in a few weeks which will give me many hours with which to inform myself should I be provided with the opportunity to obtain these books.

For the sake of the human race, please, help me get these books (and go out and get yourself some too) Thank you

... and not just any hat. I want a Tilley TH5 size 7 1/4 hat in the colour mocha. [ link ]

Yes, I already have a hat. Actually I have several. I have a nice brown cotton ball style cap, a frog hat, a bucket style hat, a sock monkey hat, a mohawk hat, a white touque with a black rose embroidered on it, a "yeti hat" ... actually that one is more of a woven wool tie on hood... but, you get the picture... I have hats... but I don't have Tilley and I want one.

What, you may ask, is so special about a Tilley hat that makes it worth $79 plus taxes and shipping for a total of $100.85?

Plenty. It is guaranteed for life, comes with hat loss insurance, repels rain, blocks sun, ties on in the wind, floats in the water, will never shrink, has an anti-sweat band, come in 13 different sizes so you can be sure it will fit, comes with a multi-lingual 4 page owners manual and brag tags to give to people who ask about your amazing hat... the brag tags instruct people to buy you a drink! It has secret pocket in the crown for the brag tags or a bit of hidden cash... or whatever else you might need, velcro glasses holding straps inside of the brass grommets, Prince Jacques of France wears one, they are Canadian designed and made... shall I go on?

Yes I know with 100$ I could get hats for myself, all my kids and a few of their friends... but they wouldn't be Tilleys

****** turns out the DIC has a membership to Big Fish Games and is willing to send Alexander a game credit to download Treasures of the Deep. I will post a picture later of him playing it. thanks DIC *******

My laptop just got back from being repaired, and they had reloaded all of the packaged software. On it were some demo games including one called "Treasures of the Deep" by Big Fish Games. My son Alexander was watching me play it... he hasn't even played it himself but when the demo expired he started crying and telling me that he likes watching that ball bouncing and those boxes exploding.

He brought me his kitten wallet which was full of a few pennies, nickels and dimes and told me that he wants to buy that game for my computer.

The game is 19.99 without a subscription, but cheaper if you promise to buy a few more games over the next little while, in addition, for the price listed, I could get a back up CD mailed to me.

I want to get this game and surprise him by installing it onto my desktop computer so that he can play it too instead of just watching it on my laptop.

Yep, I changed my wish... the reason? See the forum...

At the end of next summer, PeterH, EDelong, RSVP914, myself and a couple of other friends are planning to hike the West Coast Trail. [ link ]

The weather on this trail is often damp if not soaking wet, so I will need a good synthetic sleeping bag (down loses it's insulating ability when wet). I also need to find one that is light weight and compact. This is no easy feat. Most within my price range are either heavy, puffy, and have bad reviews... now I already have a tent that is heavier than I might otherwise have chosen, so weight is a serious consideration.

I need a reliable bag (I have had a mild case of hypothermia before and do NOT want to re-experience it on this trip.) the bag I have in mind [ link ] fits all of those requirements,is under 3 lbs, has some elastic flex bands in it so that it moves with your body while you sleep and does not let cold air in, and as a bonus, the insulation is eco-friendly and is made of recycled plastic bottles!

The full cost of this bag is $219.00 US. That is quite a bit of money... but for what it is, and for a bag that light, the cost seems to fit the market. This would help me to be able to enjoy adventures, not only with my friends but with my family and children as well for years in the future.

Thank You for your support.

We have been informed that the zombies that have made it into the USA have been arriving fromt he direction of Southern British Columbia. This makes sense. Located on the Western Coast of British Columbia's Vancouver Island is a secluded wilderness park which is the home of the West Coast Trail. A gruelling trek with such amazing views and reviews that it attracts hikers from around the world.

A PERFECT place for the mastermind behind this zombie virus to plant his or her disgusting infectious monsters. The people who hike this trail have conditioned their bodies and minds for the task... what better quality zombies could you ask for? In addition, once they get off the trail they will be boarding planes to head back to their home countries all around the world.

We have assembled a team of 6 well trained agents who are ready and willing, not only to take on the trail, but also to assume the responsibility to rid the area of zombies and protect the other hikers, and the world from this menace. Now, we just need to get there...

I have been working hard to collect up all the gear that I need, to save money for the trail pass and plane ticket, and money for incidentals. I also want to try to bring along my best friend. I'm making progress... I just got 2 packages in the mail today, one contained an awesome sleeping bag, and some gaiters and the other a thermarest Z-lite pad, a couple of triangular bandages, a rainproof pack cover, and some bright yellow rainpants, but... I will still need a few more items, and of course my plane ticket to get there.

I promise, photos, and stories of fun, friendship and the mental and physical challenges of pushing one's body to it's limits on the West Coast Trail.

That picture is the sunset over the Pacific as viewed from one of the beach campsites along the trail... Please, help me get us there!

This summer I will be spending most of July and August in Southern California working for food and a place to pitch my tent on an organic farm and couchsurfing. I do know people in the area, but I will be mostly on my own, in a new city, and living in a tent. I feel that having the phone is both a matter of safety and a matter of being able to keep in touch with my children while i am away.

I do have a cell phone with a canadian number but to use it in the USA costs about $2.70 per minute... even if I were to be using it to call 911!

Someone has sent me a Virgin Mobile phone. It is waiting for me at my friend's house in California to be activated when I arrive there. The minutes for Virgin mobile seem to be one of the best priced ones available and ... I got the phone free! Thanks to a member of this site. :)

As a mother to 5 children, I need to take my safety very seriously so that i can return to them in good health. I have been scoping out health insurance and have found that Blue Cross Ontario has a summer plan that is discounted... it is only $49 for coverage from July 1st to September 1st. Most other similar plans I have seen are around $120. The information I was looking at said "limited time advance purchase offer so I may have to act fast on this one. After experiencing what was likely a small blood clot in my lung during one of my trips out of the country and being lectured by my doctor about not seeking medical attention right away and how I could have lost my life, I am wary about the idea of leaving Canada for 2 months without coverage.

zM has started up a chip in for my travel expenses so I am linking that chip in to this wish.

thank you for your support.
