A way to alleviate my fear of flying.

When I was a little kid, I flew pretty frequently, two or three times a year, and I was fine with it. In April of 2001, I flew to Vegas. It was the worst flight of my life. I have never experienced such severe turbulence, the plane felt like it was falling out of the sky. (I think the pilot was drunk.. no evidence, but the airline had several pilots get in trouble for being drunk a few weeks later!) Shortly after that, September 11th happened, and that increased my fear of flying even more! In 2002, I ended up taking a cab home from the airport, and skipping a family reunion because I simply couldn't get on the plane.

I have flown a few times since, but it has been with the aid of Xanax. Now, I can no longer take Xanax, because I am an alcoholic in recovery, and Xanax and similar medications trigger the same receptor sites as alcohol.

I would really like to be able to fly without fear, and without medications. I have done a free program online, but the fear and panic is still there.

This is a truly naughty wish!! I would like an ebook reader. Maybe the one in the video, maybe not. I read 3-4 books a week, and even thought I usually buy them used, it's getting expensive! Plus, when I'm done, I usually stack them up by my nightstand before moving them into the office/library/storage room. Last time I moved them, there were about 40. It's a fire hazard! Also, my fiance has a reader, and so many more cool toys than I. So I want to get a nicer reader than he has.. that's really naughty, too!

Although this could be considered a nice wish, it's also self serving, so I decided that it is better off as naughty! I would like to take the exam for my gerontological nurse certification [ link ]

I have done all the necessary preparation. I have attended numerous conferences and classes, relating to the care of geriatrics. I work with geriatric patients in an inpatient psychiatric setting, and positively love it!

The other reason that this is naughty, is because my employer will reimburse me if I pass. However, I'm getting married in two months, and I can't spare the $370 right now, and would like to get the certification as soon as I can, as I'm being considered for a promotion.

If I win, once I pass the exam, I will give the entire amount back to the fund!

And the video? I've always loved this!!

I'm making this wish on behalf of the walrus, as he has a hard time typing. You see, some time ago, Mr. Walrus had his bucket stolen, and he has been very sad since that time.
This is the last picture of Mr. Walrus with his bucket, as well as the crime of his bucket being stolen. [ link ]

Although Mr. Walrus put up a good fight, the thief has not been apprehended as of yet.

Now, with new video!!

I wished for this last week, and got a really positive response, so I'm trying it again. But, with a new video of funny older people.

Wedding crutches for my fiance

My fiance is an avid rock climber. Yesterday, he had an accident, and fell off the rock. He broke his talus into two pieces (this is the bone that connects the leg and foot), fractured his fibula (back ankle bone) and dislocated his calcaneus, or heel (it was 2 inches away from where it was supposed to be). He had surgery, but will most likely end up with arthritis in the foot, and other complications are possible down the road.

We are getting married on June 15th, and he will be on crutches until at least August. I'd like to surprise him with some snazzy crutches! The crutch link: [ link ]

Had to cancel my honeymoon, for now, as we were going to Dominica, and planning to do a lot of hiking.... sigh... and yes, I do know that climbing can be dangerous. But so is driving a car, and most of us do that!

If I'm not able to get the crutches, then I'm going to try my hand at being crafty... and I'm not crafty!! But last round some people suggested spray paint and decorations. I could certainly give it a try!!
