For the cost of a sheet op paper and some ink, an envelope and a stamp, or even cheaper, a few minutes typing on an email, you can get the word out that the public at large is tired of a very serious disease being largely underfunded by our government for researching a cure. Cancer get many many million, as do many other diseases, but Lupus takes as many lives, and gives people a much lower quality of life than does cancer. And just so you know I have lost two very dear relatives to cancer, My grandfather dies in a979 from Brain cancer and my Uncle died last year from prostate cancer. here is my blog entry about that [ link ]

LUPUS, is so misunderstood and so very badly researched due to lack of federal funding that there just isn't the manpower to find the cure, I know it is out there, we just need to find it.

So I wish you each to write a few letters and send them to the representative in your area, he/she will be listed in the yellow pages. And if this wish earns any money at all, I will donate it to a good group to further this research and ask our government to revamp their funding policy to give Lupus a fighting chance.

This is a family that I personally know. I can help them by trying to do any mechanical things to make her car go a bit further, I can install the lift, I might even be able to put a 2" lift kit on it so her husband can more easily get in and out. What I cannot do, though I wish I could, is provide the funds to do this.

A Family Membership At Fossil Rim

My son is 6 and keeps asking when we are going back to Fossil Rim. I hate telling him we can't afford it anymore. So I am hoping you guys can make it happen.

2 years ago, when we were able to afford it, we had a membership for our family to the most wonderful Drive Through Wildlife and Endangered Species Refuge I have ever been to. I was in complete Awe at the Greater Kudu male who stood over 6ft tall, not counting his horns. One of the most magnificent animals and so Majestic, his mere stance was one of Pure Majesty. I have loads of pictures on my busted computer, I will have to get them off there, but I digress.

My whole family had such wonderful times there, and we miss it a lot. But aside from how much we enjoy it, most of their funding comes from Membership fees. This place does wonderful work in breeding and Helping to insure the survival of a number of endangered animals. So, that is why I am asking you guys to help me get a 1 Year Membership.

It's a great time for my family, and it's a great cause for the Animals. And I will get lots of great digital pictures to share in the Forum area. maybe even make a YouTube video of my own. Once I got bitten by a Zebra who wanted me to feed him, when I didn't get the food out fast enough, he tasted my arm. It was funny, but it hurt. Would have made a great little video though.

Happy Music with my Kids

My son has had several guitars, but none of them have ever been real, with the exception of his latest one, the First Act Flamed Guitar. This one however is real hard to keep in tune due to the cheap way it is built. Of course First Act is a great company and do build some good quality guitars, but this one is the entry level. My son loves music, and he shows a real aptitude toward rhythm and a desire to play. He has had his eye on this electric guitar for some time now.

I have not had an income for several years, am in a fight with Social Security that I hope is drawing near an end with the result being several years of retro disability payments. At that time I will be in a position to get this thing.

The rub is that I am in the process of teaching his older sister some chords and soon we will be able to play a few songs together. My son wants to be in on that as well. And I want him to. So what I am asking, is you guys help me get this stuff for him now, and when I am able, I will make somebody else's child's dream a reality.

The guitar is about $70, and the book is about $13, so I am asking for $85 which will not quite cover it with taxes, but I am sure I can handle the difference.

What is in it for you? Glad you asked. When both of my kids learn to play the chords we need, we are going to make some Videos to put on YouTube, and I will post them here for you guys to enjoy. That is like getting tickets to our debut concert. Not a bad deal for a few stars, eh?

What are we going to play? Well, we are going to start with an old favorite, The Star Spangled Banner in 2 part Harmony. Then we will likely do some John Denver (Country Roads, Annie's Song, Dreams etc...) then maybe a few Old Time Gospel tunes (Amazing Grace, Old Rugged Cross, Were You There etc...) and then we will try an original tune. I am working on the lyrics for our first original song, and maybe I can finish the Score for it about the time I get them taught to play. It will be geared as a children's song with a target group of like 4 years to 14 years. I have all these possible song lyrics up in my brain, no telling what might fall out next. The $1 is only because I had to. As the title says. I so much wish that the air would be filled with positive energy from positive thoughts coming from everyone. If everyone in the world would think, and act positive for one day, I really believe that the energy created would cause the pain of illness and sadness to go away for as long as that energy lasted. For this reason i am wishing this.

And I will start by being positive that each person who reads this will carry a smile all day and tell people they meet to have a great day. And they will tell people they love that they love them. And whether or not you believe in the power of positive energy, really won't matter, because belief or not, the energy will still escape from your body to join that of everyone around you.

It will not wipe out world hunger, or stop drought, nor will it ease the tension in war torn countries. But it may well be just enough energy to stop pain in it's tracks. And I know that so many of the members here are in pain, some battling painful and crippling disease, others are dealing with emotional pain for one reason or another. And I wish for that pain to abate, if only for 24 hours.

Zachary'sMommy put up a wish last week for $100 to get a gift basket for the RHF Staff. You know, those fine folks that make this place run? Well when she did it, it was a way of saying thank you, but I don't think she ever thought it would win. As you all know, it did.

So, she set about to find the right basket, and considering it had to ship to Calgary Alberta Canada, you can imagine what kind of hoops one would jump through to pull that off. After a lot of shopping on line, and deciding, and 2nd opinions, she decided on a basket.

This basket however, went a bit over the budget, and i think the choice was great, and our Hosts here will be joyful. However, this leaves Zachary'sMommy footing the extra bill which after taxes will be about another $35. That is something I am hoping we as a community can help her with. Materials to build 2 sets of stilts

I have short legs (no jokes, please, LOL) and I want to be Taller.

At 6'1 if I build stilts with the steps 24" off the the ground, than I will be 8'1. Now that ain't short.

Truthfully, I want to build 2 sets so my son and I can go walking together. I remember having a set with the steps 8' up when I was young. I would get on the stilts from the roof of our Garage. It was a lot of fun. So I want to share that fun with my son.

I am going to estimate the cost of materials because I don't know how to determine exactly what it will take until I actually start building them.

I plan to build them using 2x3 lumber, and steel straps bent to make the steps.

A Happy Place for Sheila

We all know that a very sad person will often strike out at those around them. It comes from depression (clinical) as well as from being Stressed (environmental) and I am sure there could be many other reasons, both environmental and emotional as well as chemical. We have a member here who is certainly very unhappy. And out of this unhappiness, I believe, she strikes as if her life were in danger.

Many have been hurt by her, as she has also been hurt and/or is hurting. Thus, my wish!

I wish for Sheila to find a "Happy Place" in her life, her heart or in her conscience.

I believe that if she was able to be truly happy, she would find happiness here and she could put her GoN life back on track and while we may not be able to forgive all she has done, we might at least be able to get past the hurt, and on to the healing.

The first step in that healing is hers to make, nobody can make it for her, but maybe, just maybe, in this wish, we can all find a spot in our hearts to pray that she finds her "Happy Place". (more)
